Credit and respect for admitting it.
-
Yes. But isn't that the case and indeed the beauty of supporting a club. People have different theories and ideas. Of course I want SFC to do well. I admit that I am obsessed with what happened in 2004, probably traumatised especially as my predictions for the club came largely true.
-
I ma not feeling optimistic. Hope we get a win though, we all need a lift.
-
Yes, I am always amazed how the little crumbs keep football supporters going. I can't imagine what it must be like to be as spoilt as the likes of Man U fans. There again I take my hat off to the fans of clubs like Hartlepool.
-
Not telepathy, but a deduction made from the things that people sometimes say.
-
I'll admit that my theories are not based on any form of hard evidence. Like many football fans it is just stuff that you pick up going round the circuits. Whether there is anything in writing ie minutes is crucial to getting to the bottom of the matter. IMO it is still to soon after the event for many, ie becuase of the chain of events that were set off, resulting in relegation, perhaps too many people still in positions of power could be exposed,. However, exposed it will be ie after many years or if someone blows the whistle.

Were you part of the anti-Hoddle protest group in 2004 ?
-
The fact of the matter is this. I am still hurting about what has happened to SFC. It never should have happened and the real tragedy is that the majority of SFC fans never had a chance to stop it happening.
-
Ah yes, ridicule. Another tactic designed used to deal with people who had a view that might prove dangerous to the status quo.
-
Or if only Rupert had walked and made a stand for the good of the club. I think that the majority would have backed him.
-
Ah yes, always the choice for the likes of eastern bloc dictators when they wanted to stop dissidents from exposing the weakness of their own ideas and arguments.

Well, Lowe wanted Hoddle. Other members of the board rejected Hoddle due to the grudge they still bore when heft the club in 2001. The small but vocal anti Hoddle campaign gave them a perfect excuse to veto Hoddles appointment, for some others there was genuine fear that Hoddle would split the fan base. Because the Hoddle takeover had been assumed , there was very little done in obtaining or courting a decent alternative to Hoddle. PS was not RL's choice, where he came from is a mystery. Now, this is where i have the problem. At this point RL should have been principled enough to see that PS was just not of the right calibre for SFC. He should have sacrificed his role as Chairman, walked out, sent the club into a temporary flux and allowed the silent majority to voice their concerns at the possible appointment of such an unsuitable candidate as PS. The fact that RL instead stayed and tacitly supported the appointment was in the best interest of RL ( ie keeping his post), but not the club. If i was being charitable, it may have been that Lowe had predicted that PS would not be accepted by the players and he could then bring in a more suitable candidate at a later date. This was a dangerous strategy to play. SFC was always an unstable ship and could not afford to ship too much water before getting into trouble. Some have mentioned here that the appointment of Wigley was an even biggger mistake. I agree, and still do not understand why.

Oh please, who is going to admit to such a thing.
-
Not quite, their were far better options than Sturrock, Hoddle being one of them. We did not rush to appoint a manager after WGS left, so why did we appoint PS ???
-
Yes, it is time for you to wake up.
-
Sadly ther are some people that would accept this club going down if it meant settling their vendetta against Lowe. After all, they were prepared to push us down the hill of destruction so that they could stick two fingers up at Hoddle in 2003. Oh, but they will never admit it after the event. No, they will have moved on to villify ssmoeone else. A sort of sport I suppose, or some very clever blue noses.
-
Biggest mistakeLowe ever made and he knows it. The tragedy of course is that the club and fans suffered most. The irony ?, when it was the most important occasion for Lowe to remains stubborn, he did not. If Lowe had walked away at this point then the real culprits ie the fans that derailed the Hoddle deal and the members of the board that gave way to the mob would not have been able to hide behind the scapegoat that was made of Lowe.

It is hard keeping the beacon of truth alight when so many would like to extinguish it so that they can crawl away from their shame under the cover of darkness.
-
If you think that understanding the reason for the mess we are in now is a 'sad obsession' then so be it. I would argue that negelcting to understand is a sign of ignorance. Alternatively, your insulting remarks could be evidence that i have struck a raw nerve. Any regrets ???

Mark Hughes would have been a fair appointment. The appointment of PS was a a last minute and ill thought out decision. Why ? Because GH was supposed to be the manager but decision was made at the last minute by some weak members of the board who panicked at the sight of a VERY VOCAL BUT SMALL MINORITY of fans. Thus, at perhaps one of the most crucial points in Saints History we ended up with a League 1 manager and a Rookie in the Premiership ! A big gamble. It will be intersting to see how Ince fairs this season. Although i think Ince has much more experience of top class players than PS, purely from his playing experiences.
-
1. It was a minority. The majority did not have to cahmpion Gh as it was already in the bag. 2. Hoddle would surely have been better than PS who had lost the dressing room before he even walked into the door 3. GH was one of the most successful SFC and England managers !
-
Depends on the weather and the surface of the pitch. Heavy pitch and poor weather 3-0 to QPR
-
Explain ?
-
It was a minority, but a minority of gob****es. They will never apologise because they have either airbrushed their part in our downfall from their minds or they are too guilty for what they did. One thing they would like to do is conveniently trivualise the event and thus detract away from their part, the most imprtant part in th downfall of this club.
-
And perhaps if a few mouthy gob****es had allowed the appointment of Hoddle instead of pursuing their own purile vendetta, we would have stayed in the Premiership and Walcott would still be a Saints player now !!!!
