Saints 0 Reading 7. Jp resigns within the hour after full time. Feverish speculation begins as to our new manager.
-
It is all about winning. At the moment we need to get ugly and grind out 1-0 wins. Simply, we need a new manager.

Branfoot did what was neccessary and IMO was unfaily pilloried.

Just getting into my time machine. I know that you should not interfere with history but this time i am. Rupert holds his nerve and ignores the vocal minority who protest at the appointment of Glenn Hoddle in Spring 2004. Hoddle is appointed. With his experience he is able to hold the dressing room and does not lose their respect. We start a slow rebuild...... Back on 2008. OK, we have just beaten Liverpool 2-0 to go 6th in the Prmier League.

I don't think SFC will ever disappear, but i do think we could stay in the third or fourth div for a long time. Also, I think that many other clubs could go the same way creating a sort of level playing field.
-
Some big, big isues that need we ned to get to the bottom of: 1. The RAL reason for WGS leaving in 2004 2. The REAL reason for not appointing Hoddle in 2004. 3. The Paul Allen issue.
-
I think the return of glenn Hoddle and some inspirational football could revive spirits and create the feel good factor Gelnn Hoddle could unite the club.
-
I still have not had a reply as to the truth about the failure to appoint Glenn Hoddle, but I am still on the case.
-
Glenn could be the one, but in the circumstances that we are in I would think Paul Ince is the better choice.
-
This choice of inexperienced league 1 managers ( or Dutch Div 2 managers), over experienced English and indeed international managers started with the appointment of Paul Sturrock in 2004, and was at the time celebrated by some of the very same fans who are now lambasting such decisions.

But...it WAS the catalyst that began our downturn. It was at this point that we begin to make a catallogue of errors. PS had lost the dressing room before he even got inside the club and did not have the ability to gain the respect of the players. No doubt in my mind that if we had appointed GH we would have stayed in the PREM

Lloyd James is a very very poor player as I have said MANY times before.
-
I was no great fan of Branfoot, but he did what was necessary to keep us up. He had paln, an ugly one, and had the guts to stick with it. Jan P....he has no plan and has lost direction. It is clear that he has lost the dressing room.
-
I have no doubt that many were the same bloody idiots that kicked up a fuss and stopped the appointment of Glenn Hoddle in 2004 and started this sorry saga !
-
Will Glenn come and save us ?
-
The problem that Blackburn had was taking a League 1 manager into the job of a Premiership side. The jump is just to big. Can't think of any other club that would make such a stupid mistake.
-
Those of you have asked for Hoddle. Not the right sort of manager for the squad or the predicament we are in now. We need someone who can buid a team that can 'strong arm' us to safety. Billy Davies would be a good choice.

Burnley 4, Saints 0. On our way down to Div 1
-
Do you think it was possible ?
-
That was the reason.
