The immortal lines...'they think it's all over......it is now'

We will go down to League one. Glenn Hoddle is the person to start the rebuild next season. He is our best chance if he can be persuaded to come to SFC. Much will depend on the fans.

A very comfortable 3-0 win to City.

Le Tissier suspects we'll be relegated before last game of season

Hey, CB, I wrote this with a great deal of irony in mind. -
everyone has accepted we are in league one next season

I appreciate your honesty ie over the Glenn Hoddle incident. Ironically, one of the reasons given for not appointing GH was that it would split the fan base. IMO it would NOT have split the fanbase but it would have upset a vocal minority. In a reaasonably short time this would have faded away. -
Apparently the titanic was the safest ship ever built, unsinkable indeed.

I know, how about a Hoddle -Le Tissier management partnership ? -
Here we go again. Some fans re-writng history, others airbrushing issues out. Some edging away from one viewpoint to the next. Others, burying their previous statements. Only a few are left to tell it as it truly was.

The sale of SFC - could it have happened years ago?
Dalek2003 replied to Saint Fan CaM's topic in The Saints
Yep, that is just about right. 2003/04 was the turnimg point. -
Hoddle was a great tactical manager.

Saints Greatest XI - The Best Managers Nominations

Lawrie, Ted, Gordon. Glenn and Chris on a par. -
Something along those lines. However, because of the involvement of a certain minority of noisy fans, there has been an attempt to airbrush this issue from the clubs history, due to embarassment on those fans involved.
-
Our players are not that good, but the squad should be good enough for mid table atleast. We need a good manager, simple as that.
-
Hang on, it worked with Hoddle.

I can't help it but I feel likeI am on the stern of the Titanic watching the very last lifeboat rowing away. I'm afraid that I am preparing for the cold clutches of the Atlantic water. So watford, biggest game in the clubs history ? No, I think it's all over this season.

I think we were a realtively stable but unspecatular mid table team under Nichol. we got some good wins against Liverpool. Football generally was going through the doldrums and was becoming unfashionable and even tarnished to an extent. Certainly, there wsn't the money about and many players came to Saints to live on the South Coast and enjoy the family atmosphere of the club. What would i give now to be a mid table top league team.

The only thing to save us will be a time machine to take us back to may 2003

We are more disunited now than we ever would have been had we given HODDLE THE MANAGERS JOB IN 2004
-
The name of Hoddle has been linked with SFC for many years now. A sizeable amount of fans realise that the failure to appoint Hoddle in 2004 was the beginning of a series of events that led to ur decline. Many of the fans have msigivings over this whole sorry episdoe and recognise that Hoddle has many of the qualities needed to turn this club around. There are many that can see this and are willing to welcome hoddle back to SMS. Hoddle enjoyed being at SFC and still has many admirers who hold influential positions in the club. The return of hoddle is very likey, as Hoddle has something to prove as well.

Nick Illingsworth on SSN - wouldn't be surprised if Hoddle returns
Dalek2003 replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
I think a SMALL minority of vocal fans are the very ones who fear Hoddle's return. They fear his return because they FEAR that he may be successful and that their narrow minded vindictive actions in 2004 will expose them to the part they played in the mess that we are in now. -
The fans spooked the board. Hoddle was put off by a divided board.

Hoddle would be a fantastic appointment. Even if relegated he would be able to work with our young players, he knows the English system, he is tactically astute. Hoddle has the experience of the lower leagues when at Swindon, and at the highest level including international. Hoddle has plenty of contacts for loan players needed to get the balnace. It all fits, Hoddle our new manager. A new dawn for SFC
