Totally agree. Some people need to see the bigger picture here. I hope the vocal few do not make the same mistake as they did in 2004 !
-
Bit strong, don't you think ?
-
You are absolutely right. I think that we are on the verge of an outstanding era led by an outstanding manager. Happy days are here again !
-
Oh come on ! Like this is uncommon in English football in the 21st Century. Surely you are not that naive.
-
That comment is completely out of order and worthy of an infration...mods please !
-
Just to think, 4 weeks ago in pre-season it all seemed so simple and straightforward and quiet. Never a dull moment supporting the saints. Time to put on our safety belts again, turbulence my friends, turbulence !
-
Hod on his way ?
-
My point is that the 'voice in the wilderness' may prove to be the voice that people will one day begin to listen too. That some may try to bury the truth but that one day it will shine brightly for all to see.

When some of the fans played their part in blocking the appointment of Glenn Hoddle in 2004, do you think they were acting in the best interests of the club ? Of course not, they were acting on a misguided vendetta. So why are you surprised now ?
-
Are you mad ? Hoddle should be one of the favourites. Clearly you are having a bad day !
-
I am pleased some of you see me co called 'obsession' amusing. Well, they say that every dog has its day. There are plenty of so called 'eccentrics' in this world who after mocking and vilification are proven to be right. Twenty years ago people were mocked over the idea of 'climate change' and look at us now. Glenn Hoddle as Saints manager ? Why so hard to believe ?
-
Rumours of the return of Glenn Hoddle building up ! Fantastic appointment if it happens !!!!!!!!!!
-
brmbrm you appear to take the idea of Hoddle returning lightly, well maybe you will be thinking again by the end of the week !
-
eastleigh is right. Glenn has a point to prove with the Saints. I can see his appointment as a very real possibility. The vast majority of supporters where aghast when Sturrock was appointed in 2004. It would be perfect if Hoddle came back and took us back to the premiership. That would shut up the vocal few who opposed his appointment in 2004.

"Unfounded" speculation and rumour in the Echo.....
Dalek2003 replied to CB Fry's topic in The Saints
CBFRY has absolutely NO credibility and hasn't done for years. His post just confirms this. -
Prefer Hoddle, although could it be Lambert from Norwich ?
-
There is a steady groundswell of opinion moving towards Hoddle as our next manager. This is a real possibility.
-
Makes perfect sense to mappoint Glenn. We are gradually repairing the damage caused by the failure to appoint in 2004, influenced by the vocal minority.
-
Glenn the next Saints manager...got to be in the running.
-
In a way, continuosly attacking and pinging the ball into the opposition make their job easier. They just have to stoutly defend and frustrate us. We do all the running, get tired and lose our shape then the opposition have a sudden surge of energy and snatch a win. We need to be patient and play clever football. We need to draw the opposition out and try and create a more open game. In these conditions we can begin to use our superior skills and we will have the time and space to create chances. In essence, we are trying too hard !

When was our most successful era ? Mid 80's under Lawrie Mac. What was his philosophy on signing older experienced players for a year or two ?
-
Players thrive on confidence, so how can booing help Puncheon ? I go to SMS to 'support' my team, not destroy it. We have had a poor start, but we are only 2 games into the season.
-
Another surprise ? Can I cope. Not to worried about tonight, if we lose I will be happy with a respectable defeat and no injuries. Saturday, it would be nice to get that first win and really start the season !
-
Agreed, could we not quietly slip out of the back door with quiet dignity and everyone intact ? Say a 2-0 defeat ?
