Strachan was a winner with Saints in the past and he could be a winner again !
-
That would please me as much as Hoddle returning !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
For once I agree with you totally CBFRY, we need a big name manager. Gordon Strachan ?
-
Agreed. BTW I would love WGS to come back !
-
Bournmuff have one of the weakest squads on paper, but they seem to be doing something right.
-
Best post for a long time. Sums it up perfectly. But the next question is who was responsiblr for at least some of thos problems ?
-
Paul Sturrock was a league 1 manager. Obviously some forward planning went on there.
-
It's whether he can get us out of League 2 that i am becoming stressed about !"

Why Cortese has learnt from one of Lowe's Mistakes

Yep, we were lucky to get Luggy. We have never looked back since. -
Why did you bother replying then ?
-
Agreed

This is going to be the big decision for the new manager. Is it a matter of motivating an essentially good squad of players and achieving promotion via the play - off's or is it a case of a total rebuild ? If the latter option then we are looking at another season in League 1, at least.

Not Adkins and not Howe.

At this rate, nest time at SMS we 'll be singing that old favourite 'Always look on the bright side of life'

Probably true !

Are you talking about the appointment of Luggy in 2004...because he was preferred to a high profile manager and that decision definitley marked the brginning and the root of our decline. -
SOS to Glenn Hoddle. RMS Southampton FC (St. Mary). Position 22, sector League 3. Sinking fast. Immeditate assisstance required. No power available and loss of direction. We are shipping water at a steady rate. Many soles are abandoning ship whereabout of Captain- unknown. Many in denial, and few lifeboats available. Please make assisstance available as a matter of urgency. From Mr Dalek....look for the bright shining flares from port side.

Just looked at the League table, elt sick to my stomach. What a car crash. In all seriousness, time to make the call to Glenn Hoddle !
-
LOL x 4 !!!!!!!!!!!!
-
gree totally. The inexcusable thing is that all we needed to do was keep Antonio and Papa....we had the option but there didn't seem the will from the management ! Bizzare.
-
Smebody that is able to attract quality players to the club.
-
Hope you are right. Adkins has a hell of a job on his hand make no mistake.
-
This is exactly what we failed to do in 2004 when we brought in Luggy. Would have been a different story if we had brought in a high profile manager. Hoddle was one choice but there were others as well. IMO we really need a very high profile manager now that can lift the players out of the **** !
-
It's not good at all. That is the truth and we must face up to it. If we don't get the right manager the club could be in real trouble.

Indee. I am sure that it is me getting misty eyed, but we appeared to get either more rain or more bitter winds in the old days. One of my enduriong memories was standing in the ****ing rain against Brum. poss 79/80. The pitch was a mud bath but we won 1-0. Went home soaked, cold but happy as it was 2 points away from the relegation zone. Jeez, tears to my eyes !
