Rupert Lowe did Good Things while he was at the club - discuss
Dalek2003 replied to dubai_phil's topic in The Saints
Round of applause !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
RL played a good game of poker and for a while it worked but like all gamblers his luck ran out and he made many mistakes, perhaps the most of all with his managers...should have held his nerve !!!!!

Good reply. In answer to your question , yes I am serious about the whole issue in 2004 when we failed to appoint Hoddle because i really do believe it was the most pivotal point in the clubs history and unfortunately began our decline. I DO NOT THINK Hoddle was the only choice, but Sturrock was definitely the wrong choice. However, I agree with most posters that now it is just history and not relevant to the future of saints FC. I agree we have to move forward. Yes many of my posts are very tongue in cheek and I suppose I should give them up. I love the banter on this site and am often brought to laughter by some of the wit on this board. I agree with most that some posters are just hostile, but i just ignore them. As for Alpine, he is very endearing and I think I have conceeded weeks ago that he was right. IMO an evening with Alpine droning on would be quite a laugh and i am sure he has a great sense of humour in person. I am not sure that we have turned the corner as a club yet, we may have many dark days ahead !

Your obsession with my obsession is something that you should be seriously worried about !

I wish him the best but i think we may regret not going form a bigger name manager. Still I trust in the chairman and give NA my full support.

Dalek here, feel honoured to get a reference ! Have to say most of the comments flung at me where OK and the abusive ones where just like water off a ducks back !
-
Still think this is the best Saints forum...by a mile !

OH dear, probably just a silly immature minority getting very excited because they were away from mummy and daddy for the day.
-
Pardew is in the past. No point in going on and on about a manager that was only average. Get over it and look forwards !

Secret strategy ?

A long way to go, but so far so good.

I want us to go back to leagues called Division 1, 2, 3 & 4 I want us to go back to 2 points for a win and 1 for a draw. I want us to go back to turning up at the turnstiles and paying cash on the day to get in the ground. I want us to go back to terraces behind each goal, one for away supporters an the other for home. I want to see the return of serious banter and heartily sung club songs I want to see footballers playing football on muddy pitches or those laden with snow and orange football. I want to smell the waft of smoke from rollies, of black and white programmes and number scoreboards. I want to see hard crunching tackle and footballers picking themselves up after receiving the magic spongue. I want to see the return of the magic of the FA Cup...the excitement of the early rounds in january. I want to see woollen football scarves. I want to see wisened old men in the stands pouring soup from tartan flasks at half time But most of all I want the return of the rawness of football its authenticity, a game for the ordinary man. Today the game has lost much of its charater and has been replaced by a sterile plastic.

Agree totally. If you dish it out, be prepared to take it back !
-
Why not just enjoy the game against one of our neighbouring clubs !
-
I've already said that.
-
Whatever people might say they have DESERVED bragging rights at the moment. A good solid victory is needed to put them in their place.
-
Oh please...I've heard it all before.

We need more post about the failure to appoint Glenn Hoddle as our manager in 2004

Proper Uni's ? Sheffield Uni, Leeds Uni, York Uni, is Huddersfield an old or a new Uni ? Got a feeling its ben around for a while. Some towns have new Unis now ie ex poly's...in fact even tiny towns have a Uni now !
-
Quite frankly after the start we have had i am just going to think about each game in turn. Don't want to start thinking ahead like we all dared to do in the summer and have then my hopes dashed again !

Perhaps Lambert is having a confidence crisis. We all know that strikers thrive on confidence, probably just needs to get that one goal and then he will be up and running again...I hope. -

Got the rub of the green today. Some hard fighting and character play. Maybe it is easier for the players now we have been written off, as the pressure of expectation is reduced. Heads down and start taking each game one by one....not getting my hopes up but let us at least have the play-offs as a target ! -
Norwich City have spent modestly and will have a real chance of getting to the Premiership.

There is a small minority that personalise their attacks on individuals and carry on their own petty vendettas at the expense of the club as a whole. This happened in 2004 against Hoddle, and since then it has happened again. If those same people cause the Liebherr family and NC to leave the club you can be sure that they will blame everyone but themselves.

I have been on this forum (and its regenerations), for about 10 years and I have noticed it has gone quiet. Glad someone has mentioned it because I thought it was just me. Are Saints moribound, like a ship LOST in the middle of the dark deep Pacific ?
