  1. Swansea starting off this half a bit brighter.
  2. Wigan have had all the possession, but hadn't created anything clear cut until the goal.
  3. Swansea need to get Dyer on, get Moore on and haul off that donkey Shechter
  4. predictable Garry Monk decides to just let it go past him
  5. Nice dive from Maloney
  6. Swansea starting with a striker that has scored no goals in 16 appearances...
  7. Wigan: Robles; Caldwell, Watson, Scharner; Boyce, McCarthy, McArthur, Espinoza; Maloney, McManaman, Kone SWANS: Vorm; Tiendalli, Williams, Monk, Davies; Britton, de Guzman, Routledge; Rangel, Hernandez; Shechter
  8. I don't know if I'd say he was much good on Saturday, but he did more than Mayuka & Puncheon so you're probably right.
  9. Think we'll get a draw here, Sunderland may not play appealing looking football but they will fight and make the game scrappy which is something we need to show we can deal with more effectively. Problem is who do we play as the three behind Lambert? Davis/Rodriguez & ???
  10. We need more physically gifted players up front and at CB, players with both pace and power and AMs with the technique to play a more effective final ball.
  11. Lambert hasn't become a bad player overnight, but the big problem we have is that if opposition CBs can beat him in the air and limit the time he has on the ball so he can't pick out the passes he poses no threat as he lacks the pace and footwork to run at defenders or get in behind. You can't really blame Lambert for lacking pace or mobility as it's beyond his control, the only bit he could work on is trying to curb his tendency to drop really deep when things aren't going his way. It seems harsh, given Lambert has scored 14 goals and probably got the most assists in the team, but in a system where there is a lone striker you need a player who has pace, power and a decent range of passing, basically the complete package. Can't say that Lambert, or any of our current CFs fit into that description.
  12. Didn't he say that Cagliairi had suspended talks because their owner is in jail a few days ago?
  13. Draw is a decent result, but Stoke's performance particularly after the sending off was abysmal.
  14. OTOH a draw doesn't really make much difference to us to be honest. a draw would still be good enough most likely as it is hard to see this Sunderland side beating Spurs at WHL.
  15. 1-1 Stoke are causing themselves all sorts of problems with their panicky defending.
  16. Johnson looks like the only player Sunderland have that seems to give a ****.
  17. Gardner was also the top scorer amongst their available players.
  18. gardner off excellent decision
  19. Good start. A Stoke win would mean a draw Sunday would probably be enough given Sunderland's last game is away at Spurs.

    Guly

You probably made your mind up over his performance the moment the teams were announced. Guly did very well yesterday, put in a good defensive performance and the moment he went off Spurs started having all the play.
  21. Old quote, no real information on the supposed deal. misinterpretation of a recent article (The bit about two players being close to signing was added by the author of BBC article and was not a quote from Pochettino himself) Ruiz is a decent player who CDAJFU, but there's very little substance to the article.
  22. If we stay up, or perhaps even if we don't I would not be shocked if there is a bit of an overhaul regarding our attacking options. Despite scoring more goals than every other side in the bottom half, you could certainly argue that with all the possession we have in a lot of games, especially since MP came in and implemented the pressing style that we should have scored more. The players we have at the moment can pen teams in their own half but their inability to create and finish chances from this territorial dominance has been made more apparent. Everton at home QPR at home Norwich Away West Ham at Home Swansea Away Spurs today We should have scored more than one against West Ham and QPR and had periods in the other four games that we should have resulted in goals.
  23. I can't see Newcastle losing to QPR or even drawing. It's about as close to a free win as you're likely to ever get. Then again... few would have called an already relegated Reading putting four past Fulham this afternoon.
  24. Last two or three fixtures for every team now, defeat today and the Wigan victory right back in it means things are getting edgy once again so may as well make a new run-in list. Not going to argue over who is and isn't in trouble, just going to post every team with 40 points or less except Reading and QPR as they're down already.
