Davis - 7 - Didnt have much to do, but what he did do he did well. Harding - 7 - I really rate Harding. On the wrong side of defence and whilst there was a patch when their winger looked lively, he kept the left side pretty quiet. Fonte - 8 - He is very, very good. Looked a class above. Jaidi - 7 - Wins everything. Looked a little nervy with the ball at the feet, but what an absolute tank. Mills - 7 - Looked really solid. One great clearance too. Antonio - 8 - Was all over the place causing problems. Deserved his goal. Looking much more well rounded compared to when he joined. Hammond - 7 - Misses Spiderman next to him, but did hos job. Wotton - 6 - Didnt do badly by any means, but unspectacular. Lallana - 8 - They couldnt track his runs into the box and was very lively. Waigo - 7 - I had a dream he'd score in that exact fasion, wierd. Lambert - 8 - Makes it looke easy, great penalty and lead the line extremely well. His link up play is very good. Thought it was a nice touch to give Perry a run out too. Was great to win in such easy fasion even though I've seen us play a lot better. Quality result. Could't believe those Carlisle fans leaving after 50 minutes, but fair play to those who stayed and kept the spirits up!

Completely agree. Gutted at the scoreline, but a the same time I don't think you could asked much more of the players. I honestly wouldn't give any of them less han a 7/10 and everyone gave it all they had.

I was expecting us to lose, and even at 3-1 I was alright about it. On the basis that we had given it a right go and just gone for it, bu been caught out a few times as a result. But 4-1 ? looks like we were demolished and it was far, far from it. We were he better side for about 70% of that game but missed our chances. That was a 2-1 game and as a result from that scoreline I feel pretty gutted about it.

Top half, I always thought as long as we give it a real go which we have. Unlucky to not be ahead, David James has shown himself in his true form, making op saves and also fumbling a cross. We can win this, keep it up.

However, we need to use our pace on the wings, I think thats where we can get at them. Get lallana in the middle if we're going a bit more defensive as I still think his best position is a kind of second striker role. That way with a 451 we can still use the wings as a real threat. Have to start 451 though, the crowd will be buzzing, get straight into them and maybe get an early goal. We just have to start positively. I sense magic tomorrow.

For the 638th time on this thread, I agree, heart says saints, head says P*mpey. But, its the FA Cup, were at home, they have injuries too and i think we'll be so much more up for it than them. 2-1 either way i think. For some of our players it will be without doubt the best atmosphere they will have played in.. One things for sure, Im sat at work placement fairly bored, but I cannot effing wait! Having this to look forward to is keeping me more than awake..!

For me, I've accepted we are not going up this season, it's not going to happen. 15 poins adrift of 6th is way too much to ask. To be honest, I'm ok wiht hat, it was always very, very unlikely wih the team we had at the start, -10 points and the awful start we got off to. There was a glimmer of hope when we went on a real good run a couple of months ago. Right now, we've made some new signings, good ones at that. I don't care about going up this season, we could get some glory out of our season to make it worth remembering. We can still go to Wembley, put together an F.A Cup run and in my opinion I hope we can finish the season strongly, get 8th or 9th spot and have some real hope for next year as tha is when the pressure will be on Pardew. Next year isn't even about playoffs, it is about automaic promotion, but by then we will have a team that will have had around a season to gel with each other and possibly some more signings.

Jeeesus christ I cant believe the reaction.. were rebuiliding, were almost on our way to Wembley and the only League 1 side officially through to the FA Cup 5th round. We started extremely slowly this season and that has held us back. It is pretty frustrating that we are leaking goals still, but lets not forget how far we've come in so little time, if we don't go up this season we sure as hell will next season. 5 year plan is still on track aint it? Football isn't predictable, thats why we love it. Just coz we forked up money doesnt mean were guna coast it. We can still go up though!

This will be a very good deal if it happens, we get a player who has scored one of the most in the league in an average side and who other clubs are clearly interested in. He's clearly got something about him! Shame for Paterson, I think he could have come good, but the only way he was going to do that here was to have a loan for a good amount of time, hes not gunna get infront of Lambert and Connelly.. so I guess its best he moves on for his sake. 175 + Paterson is cracking business for a goalscorer, considering Ricky cost us £1mil. Plus the fact that were getting a real English spine to our side is something I really like.

We have a quick team lets face it.. and why some are iffy about us hopefully signing one of the top scorers in the division for a tiny fee is confusing. He's playing in what is a fairly average side and still getting goals.
