I’ve slept on it, and done half a days work and I’m still totally pee’d off with this result. That Brighton side was about as weak as we will come up against this season and we still surrender a 2 goal lead. I thought after we got the second that even we couldn’t mess this one up. Sure enough, hold my beer.. pathetic. Why oh why did we bring on JWP / Davis? If you want to try and see a game out then Romeu is surely the obvious choice in that scenario, or Armstrong. Baffling. It’s got to the point where I just don’t see how we ever see out a game, we are so soft it’s embarrassing. 5 games in and we’ve already conceded two stoppage time goals, given up 3 points from winning positions and the only side to not beat rock bottom Burnley so far. Wonder what treats hold in store in the coming weeks. God help us. Oh, and 1 win in 14 home games; almost a whole season of home games is just unbelievably shambolic. It just never feels like we’re ever making any progress.

To mess that up, as always was pathetic. The amount of late goals we concede is so gaulling. Awful second half. Stuck a tenner on the equaliser, it’s free money nowadays.

Really the kind of games we should be winning. Brighton are a good side, very organised but just think we should be targeting home games like this as good ways of getting wins, in the same way they would be in vise-versa. Two wins on the trot would be so refreshing, it’s criminal it’s been about 18 months when we last did so. Also it’s my birthday today and I’d quite like to win this to make it even sweeter.

This article isn't wrong. We have completely lost any sparkle we had, we sold it all down the river. This is certainly what irks me the most, when we came 6th that was our chance to go for it, instead we sold up again and have gone downhill ever since. Carry on as we are and we will go down within 3 seasons I'm sure of that. The reality is, you can apply this article to anyone from 7th down. We all live a fairly pointless existence whilst we watch the media love ins for the big clubs who sell off any players after the first half decent game they have.

Personally I enjoy watching these, love the highs and lows of it. It’s a bit different and it’s an amazing opportunity to get to watch Saints home and away for you. Great stuff.

Love threads like these, and the stories that go with them. Personally only including the ones I was physically at or watching at the time. - Shane Long at Liverpool in the Semi final. The general hatred of all things Liverpool and being up against it all game, to break and score to put us in the final, I just went ballistic. - Lambert away at Millwall to make it 3-2. Was just mayhem in that away end, and we all left knowing we had what it takes to go up. Incredible day. - Gabbi at Wembley. - Billy Sharp v Pompey. Can’t deny that what happened about 2 minutes later was about as high a man can go to about as low, but in that moment it was magic nonetheless. - De Ridder v Reading. Wierd one this, but I just remember going absolutely mad when that went in. So did everyone. Proper explosion in the away end!

Fantastic win! So happy about that. Watching soccer Saturday and hearing there was a second goal at Selhurst I nearly collapsed, but buzzing to get the win now. Hoj rights his wrong, clean sheet and two goals away from home. Seems like 442 and hard working from the top is what we’ll be seeing. Fine by me. Great win, into the international break with a win under our belts.

Can't see us getting anything here tbh. Benteke always seems to score, Zaha will cause us all sorts of problems and we'll probably struggle to score ourselves. Prediction: 2-0 Palace.

Woeful first half, barely anything happened. Ultimately we won the game as we wanted to win it, and Hughton obviously wasnt that bothered. Glad we made the changes to go for it and they made a big difference. Redmond & Gallagher really changed the game. Went more direct, turned the defence, worked the channels and had some pace and quality. Nice last minute winner away from home and well deserved in the end. Hate picking players out but Stephens just looked leggy from minute one. Had a horrible first half defending and added nothing in attack. Thought Targett looked really decent and Gabbi looked like he was trying as best he could. Good effort to take 2,000 of us by the way.

Certainly hasn't been helped by us handing out 5 year contracts to players who really aren't offering much (JWP and Forster spring to mind). Those wages could surely be put to better use. What baffles me is after all the amount we have sold and replaced with cheaper options, we still seem to be unable to compete financially. Ultimately, when we finished 6th that was our chance to go for it - we didn't, and have paid the price ever since.

As soon as we went down to 10 men I put money on us losing. Says what I think of the state of this current Saints side really.
-
It seems the vast majority can agree on the same 11, here's hoping Hughes will deliver it. Without Vardy this is a winnable game, and can we please win some of our home games this season. That will be the difference between another battle against relegation or comfy mid table.

Once I saw the lineup I accepted defeat there and then. Hoedt and Stephens are really our 3rd & 4th choice IMO, and a clean sheet was never going to happen with them playing together. Not sure why Long made it on to the pitch either. I will let this game go as not being able to select either of Vestergaard or Elyonoussi left us in the lurch a bit, but I think it showed us that Lemina and Austin are very disposable. Neither are really offering anything near their ability shows.

Any idea when these tickets go on sale?

Have only just about got over that absolute sickener at Goodison last season. Possily the most gutted I've ever felt watching Saints that was. We never do well here, would definitely take a point, and am more positive of doing so from that second half performance yesterday. That said, this Everton side will be much tougher this year so really won't be easy.
-
Cardiff, Hudds and Watford. Think Newcastle will struggle as will Bournemouth.
-
Mccarthy Cedric, Yoshi, Vestergaard, Bertrand Lemina, Armstrong, Romeu Redmond, Austin, Ely

We've had several managers and none of them have him as a starter. £15m can you get you plenty abroad. For me personally, I just think we can get better. He is a squad player who contributes little and who we have been waiting to 'kick on' ever since he was part of the first team - perhaps it's time to accept this is about as good as he's going to get.
-
To me, he's replaceable. He's not strong enough or quick enough, doesn't dictate games. The only obvious thing he has is a good set piece / delivery. I think £15m would be good business, get a replacement in and i think we would get over it pretty quickly.
-
Strange one this season, in the sense I don't really know what to expect from us this year, but I'm not expecting too much. Style of play, even formation wise I think there's question marks. I'd imagine probably 12th-15th depending if we have a good start or not and if our new guys make a decent impact. We were so dreadful last year, one win in six months and still stayed up, so not worried about that side of things. Elsewhere, I'm going for Cardiff, Watford & Huddersfield to go down.
-
That was unbearable. What a relief. Brilliant from them all.
-
Hasn’t felt so gutted by a late goal probably since, well the last time Everton scored a last minute equalise against us. Difficult to keep putting up with so many injustices against us. If there were some half decent refs in this league we’d be safe already, it’s sickening now to be honest. Gutted, but we can beat Swansea.
-
I take no pleasure in this..
-
I still think that was the lowest I've ever felt after a game. My dad, brother & I didnt say a word to each other for hours. Can remember it so well.

Is anyone else worried about a re-run of the Marcus Bent moment? Similar time in the season. Playing Everton, live on Sky, we desperately need the points and they have nothing to play for.. Eek.
