  1. I've never seen that before so a million thanks for posting it. Still now brings a big smile to my face when i see his goals (and the Dell) but what stuck me more was the fellow ex pros talking so highly of him, the last bit with Joe Royale, a very respected player/manager, where he said about his goals and "thats what makes him a legend to me" makes you even prouder that he was a Saints player
  2. Yep it was a **** film, the team was called "The Saints" if i remember rightly and Ian McShane looked as fit as Neil Ruddock after a night out at McDonalds. Tried to find it, not for the oscar winning performances, but as a piece of Saints memorabilia, only ever saw it on VHS (thats video to you youngsters)
  3. Very good shout, forgotten all about him. He wasn't the most skillful player ever to wear the red and white, but he did put his head where it was going to hurt (post at the Dell still shudders at the mention of his name) and scored some vital vital goals in relegation flirting season.
  4. Have to admit, mine was Jimmy Case, when we signed him I remember thinking, WHY, hes past it, ex liverpool player wont be interested/go through the motions/heart wont be in it etc etc. But how wrong I was and the fact he played more for us than he did Liverpool spoke volumes for him. Gave 100% every match, looked after the young players, flattened anyone that flattened them as their "minder" and was quite a player too! Also what a nice guy too always happy for a chat, remember thinking "whos the old guy with the hearing aid" taking so long at a cash machine in Warsash, for him to turn round and it was him.
  5. Ok I'm old enough to remember the Kevin Keegan signing and that really was a "shock and awe" transfer, a real mouth open (probably drooling), eyes wide open and shaking the head moment. But after that I can't think of any other, certainly recent transfers, that have made me go WOW.
  6. Must have been the Davis issue being sorted, shame as I was looking forward to another signing!!
  7. Just subscribed to it, am I the only one that thinks its value for money, I love having saints news when i want it, I grew up in the 70's when there was 3 match highlights on match of the day, and hardly ever Saints, and that was your weekly fix, now I can watch highlights of pre season friendlys, I'm impressed
  8. Yes the 76 cup final is something i can never forget, the whole day etc etc, but in truth the happiest was at the JPT final, standing with my 15 year old son, not only proud of my team and the wonderful supporters that day, but being happy because my son stuck by his team through the crap of 2 relegation's and administration and he saw his team win at wembley just as i had, what a fantastic away day shared with my family.
  9. Every parents ultimate nightmare and makes you appreciate your own. Full respect to the both of them and good luck for the continued success of the LJS foundation
  10. They did "look into" Saints away game v Coventry, we conceded the first goal when BG was stranded on his penalty spot and lobbed, in court they did say that if this match was fixed then no other Saints player knew as we ran out 3-1 winners that day. I remember BG making some good saves during the match as well All all-edged of course not proved on our match
  11. Reading what the rangers fans think of him, ie ****e player, turncoat, ****ing useless ****** etc etc, can only mean one thing, He will be one hell of a player!!! Sadly way of the world when a team is hardup, sharks circle and feed off them, this time we are one of the sharks and not the floundering fish! Rangers fans have bigger worries than a player coming to us
  12. Up at Stoke, think it was the first season we were down, won 2-1 (only shot if i remember for them) took them apart in every department, it was a "sit where you like" in the away end AND won a couple of quid on the correct first goal between 10 -21 mins Also a good one but with the wrong result was an Ipswich away we lost 2-1 but dominated the game they had a dodgy penalty and when we were walking out the ground I said to one of the lads with us to watch out for his undone shoe lace, to which an Ipswich wag said its OK if you trip over it the ref will give us a penalty, had to laugh
  13. copied it and put it on my phone, looks smart, i'm well impressed
  14. I think he is up for the fight/job, we are helped that there are weak teams in the prem, Norwich and Swansea will also struggle now they have a change in manager. If we play some of the football we are capable of then i think we will be safe. I hope NC give NA the season and that we dont get any knee jerk reactions if things are going astray, hes earned his shot and i have confidence in his ability
  15. With going to the Rose bowl he would have known that there was a good chance he would have been greeted by a good few Saints fans, yes it would be nice to leave him in peace but if he wanted a peaceful day at the cricket he could go to Lords or another game anywhere in the country. As long as people approach him politely then i wouldnt see him having a problem. Fair play to him for meeting and greeting people and the firm handshake is always a good sign, but he was a physio!!!
  16. Nooooooooooo, that is a good sign, we need a few bad ass bastards to sort the "superstars" of the prem out, as long as he takes a pay cut I'm sure he will do a job, and he doesnt fit into westspam plans because hes not a striker
  17. This is true!!, West Spam have first refusal on all strikers FACT!!!!!!!! or just made up!
  18. When has fairness and portsmuff gone together, I'm sure if theres a way out of any trouble then they will be given it.
  19. No great expectations so we'll probably win it!!
  20. Anybody and everyone, so 2 cup wins and the prem title it is then
  21. Its the price of success, I'm going to find it hard to get me and my lad an ST, BUT I'm glad we are in the prem and have the chance to see us up against some of the best players/teams in europe. Think anyone can find fault in prices/concessions/terms etc, me i dont like the £50 per ticket on the installment plan, but if thats the way i have to go then I will do it
  22. His rant against NC was as much in support for his friend Matt Le Tiss, so i have no issue with that, his lads have been mascots at a saints game before so hopefully being watered off Harltepool!!!, he is as decent in real life as he appears on TV, nice bloke and approachable
  23. Craig Gordon, no fee needed and an experienced keeper and not a bad one too (for being Scottish and all)
  24. Although I'm really glad we weren't in the lottery of the play-offs, it makes you wonder that is winning the playoff with the Wembley appearance, walking up the steps, lifting a trophy to your fans etc "the best way" to go up Nothing can be guaranteed in football but winning at Wembley (as we all know) is an amazing feeling and something that can't be taken away from the players Having said that Losing at Wembley is ****e too!!
  25. Well said you mythical Greek monster you
