Let's also not forget him assuming the role of "voice of the fans" and talking utter bollocks on our behalf back in the lowe era...
-
That's his job.... If he sorts the shambles out then he's done what's expected of him, if not.... Unfortunately football tends not to work like the rest of the world... Managers seem to bare the brunt of bad decision making above them.
-
McCarthy shouldn't have been anywhere near our first team for most of his time here, but despite major flaws has played far more games than he should have done. If only we'd have gotten rid and kept Forster this season may have turned out slightly different... (although baz would have had to be dropped too) - I'm not saying Forster is great just better than McCarthy and Baz. Fingers crossed we get rid of McCarthy this summer
-
Doesn't look too bad a squad - seriously? Janny B, Djenepo, McCarthy, Aribo and Lyanco have all the attributes to be just as shit in the championship. Difficult to say whether Larios and Tall Paul will be good, bad or meh. Bazunu may come good eventually, but I'm not sure it will be for a few years yet. That squad is so light on quality we will need a significant number of new players especially to play possession football.
-
I seriously hope there is someone with a lot of experience who will join his backroom team. At the moment we have a young manager, young squad (unless we buck the trend and bring in some experience), an inexperienced DoF and an interfering lunatic overseeing it all. What could possibly go wrong???
-
I'm happy to give Martin the benefit of the doubt, but we now have a relatively inexperienced manager who hasn't achieved much in football yet, working for a DoF who has never been a DoF, who is working for Ankerson who has already shown to be inept. Seems like a very brave move. When everything gets a bit tricky there's no experience to fall back on so fingers crossed it all goes well from day one.
-
My point was all those mentioned had achieved more than Russell Martin. It's a bizarre gamble at a time where I'm not sure we can afford the risk.
-
David Jones - promoted Stockport, Ian branfoot - promoted reading, lawrie - won the fourth division with Grimsby Russell Martin - achieved the square root of fuck all Not sure what point you are making?
-
If this is remotely true I'm not sure what wankerson is seeing in his magic stats, but if we're after someone who has lost more than he's won (yes I know there is one game in it) then we must be desperate for mediocrity. Another "trying to be clever" appointment - looks like wankerson has learned nothing.

I was old enough to know better last time round
-
I can't believe how little I care about our relegation; we've dropped from a league where in the absolute best case we might be able to finish 7th or 8th and we'll never be able to compete financially with the big boys. Last time I was gutted, this time I couldn't give a shit. Roll on next year's rebuild and hopefully a season with more wins than losses.

Adam Armstrong.... Goals goals goals
-
Down we go.
-
McCarthy is such a turd of a keeper, might as well replace him with a traffic cone. We are so utterly shit and deserving of relegation. Forest are content letting us have the ball knowing full well that we'll mess something up and gift them the game. Ive never disliked a saints side more.
-
This hopefully is a unique opportunity for a major clear out of the dross we've kept for too long: McCarthy, Bednarek, Stephens, lyanco, moi, djenepo, A Armstrong, Walcott can all go as far as I'm concerned. I can't see us keeping ABK, KWP, Salisu, JWP, Lavia and by the sounds of it Perraud. Hopefully we'll be able to keep che, Livramento and Alcarez. In which case the first team is going to be a bit threadbare: Bazunu; Livramento, 2 * New CBs, Larios; Smallbone, New CM; Sulemana, Alcarez, Edozie; Che. With the likes of Ballard and Doyle coming through, I fully expect us to neglect a striker unless Che goes. Should be interesting...
-
I think you could keep McCarthy or Bazunu in goal, bednarek and lyanco at the back and Armstrong up front - better to have proven failures in position to guarantee the result 😉
-
I think I'd pu lt Jones, wigley, gray and Pellegrino ahead of him in the shortest category. Arguably branfoot too
-
Fundamentally while Selles has his problems I can't really see any manager doing any better with these players; we lack the fundamentals to win games - goals, determination and character. Nathan Jones was a disaster, but not getting a decent goal scorer in January was a bigger calamity. This isn't going to get any better until Ankerson and semmens are gone.
-
We've been heading down for ages nothing has changed. Embarrassingly we've just lost to an absolutely shit team at home. Changes needed throughout the club, the biggest of which are Ankerson and semmens
-
Being shit is the new good??? 🤣
-
Goody we've set up not to score again. When will Selles learn that you need to score goals to win matches...
-
Down we go. No point thinking otherwise. Major clean out required for next year
-
Unfortunately we've not got enough goals I'm us to win and Selles knows it - so it will be another cautious performance hoping to keep a clean sheet and nick a goal from a mistake, set piece or penalty. We've got too many mistakes in us for this strategy to ever work so sadly I think this will be the game that kills us off. For some mental reason I've still got hope that I'm wrong...
-
We did a goal thing - not much else to say
-
xG and xGA so frequently bare no resemblance to the result of a game that they are pretty meaningless stats. They seem to have been created to support narratives rather to give any sort of insight. Selles has more points than Jones from fewer games against arguably tougher opposition - that's the only stat that matters for me.
