You didn't have to mention the word Muslim when you're advocating blowing up a group of Muslims! Blimey. The rest is typically stupid. I've never defended the murderous Hamas in the way you've defended the murderous IDF, but I wouldn't want to see a group of their leaders blown up.

The images that he was sentenced for were mostly of kids aged 13-15. Without knowing the details of what each of these blokes had (frankly I don't want to know) it's impossible to draw any kind of comparison.
-
I'm not sure you'll find too many catholic or protestant Hamas members. Regardless, it was a disgraceful comment. You'd have rightly been up in arms if a similar comment was made about "murderous idf leaders" or similar.

"Israeli media is reporting that the names of the captives have now been handed over to Israel. The mechanism of this is that Hamas informs Qatar, the mediator, and then Qatar informs Israel. It looks like this has now been done. What we understand is that these are three women that are not soldiers – possibly over the age of 50, or minors – so this should technically mean that the ceasefire is now officially on. Usually there is still some form of delay in terms of attacks, but there was a feeling that this was simply going to be a delay, that this wasn’t going to be a derailing of the ceasefire".
-
Not sure both sides have been fighting for a while.
-
It's not a ceasefire until it's a ceasefire so yep they'll carry on. My gut feeling is it won't hold, and at best, it won't reach phase 2.
-
That's a considered response, thank you. I can't agree that there wouldn't be a delay, unless your suggestion is to implement now what has been suggested, then investigate, then alter our approach as per the findings and recommendations of any further enquiry. In principle I see no issue with that, but my fear is that what's been proposed won't be implemented pending a new enquiry. If that's so, we get delay which potentially exposes more poor kids to harm. Your post office point is a very good one, and the civil enquiry has started to right wrongs and give accountability. You're winning me over.
-
That was my initial thought. I moved away from that as I think they'd want to leave decision making to any new enquiry, but perhaps leave them to use Jay's proposals for discussion and consideration. I'm still in the "what more does the enquiry" hope to achieve camp. We have had years of enquiry, solid recommendations and need to implement them. We then need ongoing review, accountability, and more action when needed.
-
There's been enough delay imo. Vulnerable kids do not need that. They need action. More enquiries just get in the way of the solution. Devils advocate questions. You say that we need blame. What will blame achieve that is positive? Is there a danger that it'll throw fuel on the fire of racial divides
-
I don't disagree with that, but, where does highlighting the ethnicity of the perpetrators, and having enquiry on top of enquiry, take us? Is the solution to an obvious problem to a) retain focus on the already established problem, or b) implement the recommendations made after years of enquiry and hard work by Professor Jay?
-
Although I think the messaging from Starmer is naive and unnecessary, fundamentally he's right that this issue is being politicised, and people seem to want to focus on the race of the perpetrators rather than just getting on and taking the already recommended actions to reduce the prospect of more kids being violated. The focus needs to shift to action rather than blame.
-
We know there's a problem. Professor Jay investigated and reported over almost a 9 year period. Why do we need more than her final report, and implementation of the recommendations? Jay herself says we just need action, and yet more enquiries surely delays action?

It's a half way house, and I'm still waiting for the Tories to explain why a national enquiry has only become necessary since they left power and Musk piped up. All of this took place on their watch.

Charles played in the championship last season and looked poor so people wanted him to go on loan. He's played half a season in the championship this year and apparently is now a PL player. Smallbone played for Stoke in the championship the year before and looked decent. He also did pretty well last season. Bizarre how half a season in the championship makes someone a PL level midfielder.

It's like an mfi closing down sale back in the day. Always threatened, but it took years to bloody happen.
-
As I'm not sure where to start with that, I won't.

That's Trump's influence right there. Indirectly, or directly, his pending appointment has played a part in this agreement. I agree in the next part. Trump is as keen on a proper two state solution as he is on banning fake tan.
-
He's one of those players who appears to have improved in people's minds by being away. He wasn't good last season, and there was almost universal support for him being loaned because he hadn't been good enough. My original point though was that coming back and playing a small role is pointless if he could stay there and play. Our season is over, and it's better for the lad and us next season for him to be playing 90 mins each week for the rest of the season. I'm surprised there's disagreement on that.
-
Please don't confuse my acknowledgement of his effectiveness with any respect or support for the idiot. That I think he'll broker a solution on Ukraine is no endorsement of the man, and far from a belief that he'll do the right thing morally or by the people of Ukraine.
-
I'm a hater, but there is no doubt about the man's influence. Throwing his weight around and getting results before he's got the keys to the door is a sign of things to come. Let's see who controls the Panama canal this time next year, and whether there's a McDonald's and Taco Bell in downtown Nuuk.
-
Based on what? He was atrocious last season. Take the Liverpool cup game last season as an example.
-
Poor decision imo. He's better off playing up there than sitting on our bench or getting cameo's here and there. It'd only make sense of big Les was going back, but that'd make no sense.

Having a loon as the boss of the world has to have some perks.

To be fair, he pretty much has. Gaza should have been done months ago, and it's no coincidence it's happened now. Directly of indirectly he's got it over the line. We've confirmed that Chagos has stalled pending his input. Ukraine won't take long.
