I dont post much at all any more on here [to be fair dont have loads to say] but i do read posts quite often. Sometimes, rarely there is an interesting post as Dubai_phils is and sometimes some news from connected supporters. I feel that the forum has been hijacked by posters like nineteencanteen [sorry to be personal] and maybe 4 or 5 others that regular readers will all know, who simply want to peddle there vile opinions. Now as soon as i write this i will get comments fron these select band no doubt. Let me predict phrases like happy clappy, free speach, or even comments alluding to there superior intellect for having such original thought. In the past i have allowed my self to get wound up by these people, which is pointless as they are clearly iether attention seekers or total losers who try to project their misery on to others, any way they can. So, thanks Dubai for a worth while post and mr. nineteen, why dont you go somewhere else.

First of all, no panic. Obviously a poor performance and it wont be the first time a decent team gets beaten after a new manager takes over the opposition. Almost expected....... Comments i would make, are 1. Could we or should we have made better use of the squad over 2 games. 2. Should Thomas have started. [easy comment with hind sight i know]. 3. Is Connoly totally ready yet, hes obviously a good player but didnt do enough today i.m.o.? 4. Think we looked weak on the left. I think we are putting too much on Harding and although he is one of our best players i think that is affecting the team. Hopefully this can be addressed in the january transfer window. Now 2 very tough games, lets hope we dont lose all the benefits gained from our recent good form. Yet again next few games pretty much deciding our season, ie play offs or no play offs?

delldays over reacting............never!
-
it just struck me that when nickg listed our last 7 games[and why not, nothing like some good reading on this forum], you reacted a bit like when that priest sprinkled water on the possessed girl in the excorcist? Would you have been happier if hed quoted our worst run from last season?
-
i would have thought the difference is thas those people that were being honest and commenting on our poor performance, were missing the point at that time. Why were they stating the negatives at the time of transition, why were they questioning A. P when clearly it was early days in a long journey. So no, Trousers sorry but i dont give those type any credit, but i am enjoying the fact that they seem to have slid back into there holes, no doubt waiting to decide how long a bad run needs to be before they can all come back out and start saying i told you so..............
-
sorry dont agree. I would say Pardew has not got one signing wrong. Come on give him the credit.
-
Id agree with that. Shows how well hes done that we are all talking of several names [pretty much all his signings] Would add Lallana as he could have gone?
-
i noticed at southend that Papa gave the ball away in dangerous positions. He may get away with that in this league sometimes, but if he doesnt sort that out he will have a short career in England i reckon.
-
2nd place in latest form [last 6 games] league, only colchester above..
-
Can not quantify if Lowe was worst ever chairman of a football club, but certainly the worst ever employee of southampton fc. in terms of negative impact etc
-
I think you feel about the same about A.S. as i do, infact he one of maybe 4 posters that i think drag this forum down to the point where i rarely post anymore. I think you will find that people like him are totally inpenetrable, and is almost psychotic in his negative destructive opinions. I firmly beleive it is this type of persons way of feeling noticed and i would imagine in real life, ie off the forum they are probably used to seeing people walking the other way when they are out. Although, probably foolishly ive commented, i think your best bet is put him back on ignore and maybe if we all do that these type will eventually give up. I think this forum should be for true saints supporters and not sad trolls that get there self esteem strangely by posting negative comments about our players ,management etc.

If we average 8th place [currently 6th] in the current form league, through the rest of the season we will end up with 60/61 points, which last season would have had us in 13th place. i reckon this should be about par.I dont think we will do worse,[but maybe that is natural optimism]. to be relegated we need to be around 11 points under par. To get play offs we will need to be around 15 points over par. Neither option, ie relegation or play offs are impossible but i would put my money on ending up between 15th and 10th.

i think we have maybe 4 posters on here that are pompey fans. I dont want to get into names but i reckon one has posted on this thread today... Dont want to say names because i guess i could be done for slander?

based on?

Interesting how people can be so different. For instance i find it arse-achingly boring when the usual moaners come on after a loss to pull the team to pieces. Or to make snidey comments about Pardew or what ever takes there fancy. If you need to grumble and moan feel free, if it makes you feel better then good, but dont insult the majority of us that are simply happy with the obvious progress being made by the new regime.
-
Totally agree, watching the match and before that the coaches preparing the players i came away with a strong feeling that something good is starting too happen. Can only see us moving forward from here. I would say we are now becoming a team in the true sense of the word. Cant wait for next game.

Just got back from game. Got to say i watched a team tonight. Defenders that defended, midfielders that passed and chased all night and forwards that looked like they could score given half the chance....Could see a real spirit and good signs like the defence talking to each other, encouraging each other, very disciplined. Up front Lallana and Lambert starting to play really well together. Papa on a few occasions scaring the defence, should have scored. Loved the way the defenders didnt mess around, clearing the ball out of play not trying any thing fancy. Harding again was brilliant, having said that they were all brilliant. To be fair Southend werent good but was a real good team performance tonight. Most pleasing thing though is seeing the progress, dont get me wrong we are not the finished article, but for the first time in too long i can see a team coming together. Second half we pretty much snuffed the game out, couldnt see them scoring if we were still playing. Also our support was awesome 8500 crowd and we made more noise than the rest of the ground. Absolutely brilliant.........
-
Papa was good as was the whole team. Definately gives a new dimension to the team, made some telling passes, missed a very good chance, but shot was well saved. Did give the ball away in dangerous positions a couple of times and against a better team this could have cost us. Would give him 7 1/2.

we returned 200 tickets so should be enough. im buying tickets on the night and have been assured by there ticket office that there will be tickets left.

Time for our season to start / league table to watch
glkdcdes replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
Thats where stats can be used to make any point you wish. if we take off the first 3 games we are in 10th position and mantaining that form we will be around mid table. So do not understand why you feel that the only stat that is worth a damn is 9 points from 1st 9 games. What about our goals against is about 5th best in league, now thats surely as important a stat, normally the relegated teams have by far the worst goals against. I dont think any ones celebrating one point, but trust me, the signs are more positive than negative at the moment......... -
10th place in form league, last 6 games and one of only 3 teams to have not lost in last 6 games......... Early days but some promising signs
-
Obviously would have prefered three points, but at least we are not losing and our defence is looking fine for this league and should only get better. We are about half way in the current form league [last 6 games] and if we mantain that we will certainly be safe and lets face it thats the first priority. Still very early days but not too far away from moving up the table. We really need a couple of wins how ever we can get them, because the biggest thing we need now is confidence. As always the next, lets say three games are so important........... Why is it so hard to be a saints supporter..........
-
Thanks for that, im sure your right.

listening to the forum, it was obviously pleasing to feel that the club and supporters are united again, as they certainly had not under the previous regime. i thought that nicola came over as a very honest ,unflappable and competent person. I must say though although A.P was given rave reviews from every one their were a few of his comments that slightly grated. Mainly comments like mentioning Schneiderlins inconsistency, i know he qualified what he said in a positive way but not sure that was great. Also saying Davis would always be captain while he was at club, while alluding to having an outfield player wearing armband. Slightly dangerous to commit to some one allways being the captain, things can happen. Also is it normal to have disciplinary matters [ie fines] being dealt with by player? AP also mentioned that Kelvin took these small things away from him. The way that came out would not have motivated me. Also when AP said that we were searching for an identity and that would emerge. It didnt sound like he was deciding what the identity should be, surely one of the main parts of his job as the team leader is to decide what he wants our identity to bE. Maybe i am reading far too much into his words or even misunderstang them, so just interested if anyone else shared my reservations.
