I think a manager should get more out of a team than the sum of it's parts - we have a strong squad capable of beating any team in this division and yet our results are not consistent. Any member of this list could have made a decent job of managing this season given the resources Mr Pardew has been given - the main difference to last season is 3 or 4 very good players he has signed who are suited to this division. The Dutch guys would have succeeded last season if they'd had the new owners. This isn't a sudden change of heart for me, I've not been happy with the appointment since day one - he has a history of jumping when he gets a better offer and I've always thought he do OK for us and then leave. Wembley was fun, but the JPT isn't the Holy Grail. I'm not here to start a Pardew out campaign. Love you all!

Tonight's display was down to a poor manager making bad decisions - don't make one of own a scapegoat.

Guys, what I was trying to say was that, due to work I may not be able to get to as many games as I'd have liked to. It's possible that I may have to miss at least 6 home games - I'll probably see about 10 away games - if the ticket was, for example, £250 I'd have got one, and one for my 15 year old son. If the tickets had been that price I think we'd have sold a lot more already - especially if it was an early bird limited offer. I also stand by comment that SMS is never going to become a fortress with crowds of less than 20,000. The crowds will come with good results but this is going to be a very hard season. We played Ajax with just over 20,000 people (many of who were on free tickets) and half of them left before the end as we shipped goals - if things aren't going well by week 6 or 7 of the season I hate to think how many people will be watching. Yes I wanted cheaper prices but whatever happens, like many of us, I'll be spending more than I should afford yet again - I just hope this season it will be worth it, because for the last 3 years it hasn't! COME ON YOU REDS!

I think the figure is a little disappointing. I let my season ticket go last year so I don't get the cheap renewal and work means I might not be able to get to as many games. A price somewhere between our price and the Bradford price would have been a no-brainer but I can't afford to buy a ticket (and one for my nipper) at these prices - it'll be pay per game. The thought of under 20,000 people in St Mary's fills me with fear - it's horrible, there is just no atmosphere - at least not enough to create a fortress! Maybe this Saturday's game will change my mind.

Well, I know this will make me sound like a tight wad BUT ... I didn't renew last season because times are hard and I wasn't prepared to pay the asking price for more of the miserable football we had seen in the previous 2 or 3 seasons. Now the new prices are out and yes, they are cheaper and maybe the future looks brighter, but I still can't afford to take the gamble. I think pricing them lower and selling more would have really got us off to a great start. I'll be there for at least 50% of the home games and a handful of away ones too - I wish they'd have made a "no brainer" offer I couldn't refuse!

I'd love to see Malcolm Elias back at Southampton - I'd love it - I'd really love it! Seriously, he did a great job with us and I'm sure he could again. I had the opportunity to watch him in action a few times at Staplewood and I was very impressed with the way he spoke to the nippers.

I was one of the original Dj's right back at the beginning - 1981 or 1982 I think. Merv, Quinny and I got dumped at the first refit - got asked back eventually though. Good times - memories of Saints players up at the top bar. It wasn't always the dump many of you remember, Jim Conway ran a great club - I worked for him on the dark side of the county too. Cheers Saint Nobby (aka Paul Leighton!)

Well I reckon that puts all the speculation in proportion. Happy birthday mush. At least we've got something to celebrate today. Cheers Saint Nobby

We all know how hard it is to wait, we have no control over the situation, we might not get any more information for days, BUT it takes as long as it takes. No mater how much we want it, and no mater how hard people are working to make it happen, it will take as long as it takes. Over recent seasons we've craved a hero to save our club just as Matt did for season after season ... guess what, we now have one. Thanks Matt.

Season tickets bought over 6 months interest free

If they make season tickets really cheap they will sell loads. I think £200 for adults (£100 concessions up to the first game and then put them up to the average for the division. Surely that way the stadium will be over half full. It may cost the new owners in the first season but I'm sure it will get the fans back. Yesterday I found this on http://www.hotdeals.com ... For the third consecutive season Wigan Athletic have maintained the lowest possible prices, in an effort to ensure that Season Tickets remain affordable for all. Adult prices start at the remarkable price of £250 - just £13.16 per match, and every seat in the Stadium remains under £300 (excluding hospitality tickets). Under 16s Season Tickets are again available from £140 - £7.37 per match, while Under 11s pay the equivalent of an incredible £4 per game. Premiership football for £250 a season, surely £200 for Division 1 is realistic. As Flybe are still our sponsor I'd also consider keeping the same shirts for another year as a gesture to all the fans who supported the club by buying it last season. Stock for this year could be priced at a slightly cheaper price than last year - say £35 for an adult. I appreciate this represents a drastic reduction in income but the increased take up should help and it would be a fantastic gesture from the new owners to wipe away the public relations disasters of recent years. Flame away! -
I didn't renew last season because I wasn't going to spend that much upfront following two seasons of - well let's say if I'd been served that up in a restaurant I'd have sent it back and expected a free meal and a refund. Once things are sorted out I hope to buy our tickets for next season. If whoever takes over really want's to make friends and influence people I suggest they offer tickets at £200 for one month to anyone that wants to buy them (£100 concessions) - that would get the stadium over 50% full and put the "Spirit" back in our club. Obviously they'd have to bankroll the season but I think it would be worth it.

I don't post much - but I read most threads. I just wanted to say that Drew has been one of the only players worth watching for the last 2 years. His attitude on and off of the pitch has been excellent. Yes he's had some hard games and sometimes hasn't delivered but I don't think there have been many (any?) others who have fought so hard to keep this club moving forwards. If he is sold I wish him the very best for the future and hope that one day we'll be a big enough club to get him back. We've frequently had to watch a load of rubbish for the last 2 years served up by players that really don't care about our city, our club or us. Who knows what the next few days, weeks, months will bring? One thing's for sure, there's never a dull moment following the Saints (except sometimes between 3 and 4:50pm on Saturdays. back to lurking ...
