  1. Chaplow, Chaplow, everyone says Chaplow, yes just what we need but is he injury-prone and going to be another Holmes? Remember Charlie George and quite a few others, just what we want but on the pitch not in the treatment room.
  2. Yes Badger, I'm seasoned and I was there and another speciall feature was that our goaly (think it was Ron Reynolds) was carried off in the days before substitutes and Cliff Huxford had to go in goal, we led 4-0 at the time but Leeds made it 4-4 with a penalty close to full time but Reeves won it with almost the last kick of the match with his fifth goal at about 10.30pm!
  3. There is even a chance now we have a properly structured club with ambition that we may hold to them when they mature, that would be the best of all worlds and we're on that path, thanks ML thanks NC
  4. Strange that people call Guly crap, useless and other things when in fact he has scored in open play three times as many goals as the chief striker even tho' he only gets on the pitch for short spells
  5. Half time made me so happy to think we have got our family club back after years of downward spiral. The future looked assured, its a time to celebrate and seeing NC giving them his backing was great. I had no idea all that was going on in the background.
  6. It was just great to get an insight to our Saints Foundation and see what is going on behind the scenes to make us a real family club, given another couple of years it will be the best in the land .
  7. I reckon its a good sign when old players come back for Testimonials and Steve Williams came back for Danny Wallace when he developed multiple sclerosis, so he's a star, not one to hate.
  8. I dislike any one who moans about us after they've left, that means Kevin Phillips but has anyone else?
  9. I don't understand the rush to sign another, maybe Punch was just surplus to requirements, why upset OXO and all the young hopefuls we are meant to encourage?
  10. He's been up to getting us a top young manager to win football matches, that's what, and its ok by me.
  11. Sorry to say Marain Pahars is there too

The more things we say against him the more sure he is to get the winner against us so lets start praising him, trouble is there wasn't much to praise, he had attitude problems IMO
  13. Has Holmes left us? Or is he injured (again) I thought this was tio be his season
  14. Lot 849 History of Southampton 1924 by AE Jones. 32 pages and on the next page of the on-line catalogue: Lot 854 Golden Jubilee Brochure 1885-1925. 48 pages How can 40 years be golden?
  15. And support our Club's new lease of life
  16. My worry is how the Barnard fiasco will be handled and what effect it will have on both morale and performance
  17. 'nipping in the bud'? you mean the night club drinking and all that is new? I doubt it ,and PA will have a helluva job to stop it. How can you control the habits of grown men, its hard enough with kids
  18. Born 1935 lived at Westrow Gdns with a garden that had a hole in the hedge straight into the County Cricket Ground, bombed out Nov30th 1940 and exiled to Plymouth for three years (bombed out there too) back to Westrow Road in 1944, 200 yds from the Dell in time for the last of the war games and then the old Second division. Now I have to come each week from Dorset/Somerset border
  19. If Holmes starts, how many minutes before he is off injured?
  20. I loved MLT the player like I've never loved another Saint, he was magic and when he did the lap of honour at the end of his Testimonial I shed a tear and wanted to see him play even if just one more time, but since then, oh dear, after the fiasco with that guy who was all talk and no money that delayed the Liebherr take-over he should be thankful the club was rescued, bad mouthing the rescuer is very strange so is the admission in his book that he was spot-fixing or whatever its called in Premiership football. All hell is let loose on cricketers for doing that.
  21. Excuse my ignorance but I live in Sherborne Dorset and never see the Echo, why is it that the local paper seems to be so opposed to the local Club, campaigns against it and gives space to unrepresentative critics, what's going on?
  22. Have to admit I hadn't heard the name till a week ago so I was underwhelmed at first, but I can see Nicola is building a Club (not just a team) and he is breaking the mould of English football which is much needed and so a young intelligent guy with progressive ideas is a load better than all those well known names who have been knocking around club after club, having moments of glory and the sack in equal measure. Well done Nicola and keep up the radical renewal, we needed it!
  23. Has it been a difficult season for injuries or did the injuries bring on the young and local talent and make it a better season?
