  1. Can we catch Brighton? What does it matter?
  2. Our 'new' club no longer a sellig club (three cheers) but neither is it a buying club, we are learning to breed and train our own, which is better by far. to sign a rejected has-been like Wright in preference to using our own very loyal and capable Bart would send out completely the wrong message
  3. Saints are on the way up and want players on the way up to make a future with us, Beatts is from the past and on the way down.
  4. Beatts had his day and it was along time ago, since then he has been around causing trouble after trouble, he's now a rather sad figure and not what we want in our dressing room, NC has got rid of past problems on and off the pitch
  5. Well said
  6. How many changes have Norwich made? Not many I guess and they are going from our league into the Premiership at the first attempt, so maybe our squad with some youngsters coming through will do the same, togetherness counts for a lot and I sense that is getting strong after not existing at all for about 6 years. Well done NC/NA
  7. Lowe must be high on the list but I don't reckon he was a villain, 'Arry was and is an absolute cheating bast ard in a different league from the duckhunter, the only fraud to match 'Arry might be that chap Askham
  8. Chappy's got energy he runs and runs but a bit like a headless chicken, Stephens looked calm and used the ball well, first choice on current form
  9. I go with the FA Cup replay at White Hart Lane when we smashed first division Notts Forest 5-0, after two drawn matches 1-1 at Forest and 3-3 at the Dell. In the third game the Spurs officials had closed one stand thinking there wouldn't be a huge crowd but there was and by the time they opened it we were 3-0 up and loads of our fans had missed it
  10. Oxo is more solid physically and that matters at the top level, Theo is injury prone and that has put his development back again and again. My money would be on Oxo and this time because we have a proper set-up there's no need for him to move, he can prove it with us
  11. this sort of premature speculation is a waste of space and doesn't serve any useful purpose whatsoever.
  12. Will we do an Arsenal and collapse at the vital moment and see the season dissolve to nothing but tears? there's a risk but I think this lot are tougher and more resolute and it will all be ok. IMHO
  13. The chickens haven't hatched yet, this is so premature and inviting trouble
  14. Fonte and Lallana, probably tipping to Fonte because he's played more. Hammond had a bad spell early and got dropped can't be him if we judge the season over-all rather than last few games
  15. In those days he was known as 'Mac my enemy'
  16. He gave Terry Paine a free transfer, just to get rid of him and establish himself
  17. Yes, Charlie Wayman was injured scoring the winning goal against Spurs at White Hart Lane and as they were our chief rivals we thought that was it, we were up, but it was the opposite. Yes, Alf Ramsey (who once scored four for Saints) was tried as centre forward and also Bobby Veck the left back! But there is one big difference, in those days there was a team of eleven and no subs allowed, now with a squad injured people can come off instead of staying on and damaging themselves further and the subs are good cover. We made our signings for cover in January, why the panic for more cover? In NA we trust!
  18. I know the guy got us relegated twice and also led us into bankruptcy which is a pretty terrible record but there is one thing to say for his integrity- he wasn't like the lot down the road, we didn't owe anything to local firms or charities or schools and we didn't owe the public purse so he had paid the bills as far as possible, no I'm not a fan of his and don't see how anyone can be but compared with the cheats he was a model!
  19. So we win and go second (hopes) but before we play again Peterboro will have plasyed twice, so we're not second for long

    Chaplow

it seems to me he follows the ball, up and down, up and down and gets a kick occasionally. I used to be like that!
  21. I'm very old and I can tell you, you're spot on, he was the hero of the time, 'Down the middle for Charlie' was the battle cry, how we managed to get him from Newcastle when we were poor and they were thge Man U of their time, still amazes me
  22. Yes Keegan's was the most spectacular and unexpected and the best stage managed but he didn't stay long, we got bigger return from Ron Davies and even Jimmy Case and David Armstrong than from Keegan who upped and left, the way he does
  23. The way the current Executive works in a leak-free manner with very few ITK people (much to their dismay) I won't be surprised if the name is a surprise, and that's how it should be!
  24. The current squad is good enough and will get us out of Lg1 please don't get even more players in then we will have even more players not playing and that's bad for morale and spirit and everything else. Whether the sqaud is good enough to get us out of the Championship in an upward direction is anoter question and that will be the summer challenge, meanwhile don't panic!
  25. We're not looking for has-beens
