  1. Let 'Arry pay him, he's not gonna do anything here
  2. I'm with doddisalegend, we have a rapport with this sqaud and what is even more important is that they have a rapport with each other. That is very rare in the modern game and will count for a lot among the mercenaries of the Premiership who couldn't care less what shirt they wear.
  3. When you look at what's happened down the road NC looks like an angel or at least like the perfect business man, I hope even his critics now believe he knows what he's about---and it's the good of our Club
  4. I am surprised by Lambert, he is a different and much better player than when he joined. Credit goes to the coaching staff as well as to Ricky, they've seen the potential and exploited it. In Pardew's day he was just a goalscorer who always looked a bit lazy...not now!
  5. When we are in the Premiership Guly will be in his element---I hope and believe
  6. In the loan window we need to get a good few out, not in
  7. I can't believe the power and the energy he has brought to the team since the reconciliation, it's like getting a new million pound player in the trasnsfer window: well done NC and NA
  8. the mistake was ever to make him captain in the first place but he is clearly a guy who is impossible for any one else to lead, those types are best out of the squad altogether
  9. It doesn't bother me what date he signed, it does bother me what date he will be fit to play again. Anyone know?
  10. On reflection Lowe behaved well compared with everything we have seen going on down the road
  11. Not to most people but look what the tabloids do to people, and Fashanu's fate wouldn't exactly encourage anyone
  12. He's fast and we need that, but a brain would help and I don't see much evidence of one. The worrying thing for me is that he keeps blaming his own team mates when the ball is not just as he wants it, there was plenty to moan about on Monday but that is not the way NA has built a team togetherness.
  13. I would love it, just love it if Pompey pop and the re-arranged league table got us promotion--justice at last! but I doubt it will happen because Lumpitt knows too much from his old FA job about many corruptions for FL to risk moving against him, there's a can of worms in what used to be our lovely game
  14. He was agood player once but a journeynman now

    De Ridder

De Ridder is not up to Championship never mind Premiership if we get there, as for Holmes sooner he is injured and back in the physios care, the better
  16. I just don't believe we do our business in such a public way
  17. A lot of the players mentioned were signed in the years of general decline and boardroom conflict which was largely the Burley years, sometimes the fault is with the whole club structure nor judt the player, I am constantly amazed that Delap (for example) has done well in the premiership for several years when he was such a waste of space here.
  18. Don't think he was ever on the radar, sights are set higher
  19. Bart's error was no worse than the England goaly in the World Cup, it happens to the best and doesn't make them a bad goaly, the trouble is it may make them a more nervous and short of conmfidence goaly
  20. Hope he is on his way, how many games has he started and finished? He's got several years pay for very little so doesn't need too much sympathy, but who will take the risk?
  21. Yep, like loads of other posters I was there the day Shilton scored, it's not the sort of thing you ever forget, I remember exactly where I was standing --under the old halftime scoreboard penned in the Archers corner, always a brilliant view but that was something you wouldn't want to see, nightmare stuff, and soaked to the skin as well. What else would make thousands of people stand for two hours in pouring rain?
  22. I remember Stevie Williams debut (yes, I'm very old) he came on as a sub not many of us even knew who he was but within a few minutes he was shouting orders at older players and I thought 'Blimey, we've got a special sort of guy here' and so we had. but I agree with OP we must treat the youngsters generously and not demand immediate success, it's normal to take a year like Channon and Shearer
  23. Alf Ramsey (as in Ramsey McDonald)
  24. I got my first season ticket as a boy when Alf Ramsey was our right back (I once saw him score four goals for us as a centre forward) so I've seen plenty of good years (when Ted Bates took us from 3rd to 1st divisions) and plenty of bad years (we all know about them) but I do not believe there has ever been a year when the whole Club has been so clearly a secure unit, stable financially, in playing staff and in every other way and it shows on the field. I'm pleased I've lived long enough to see the recovery following the total implode that looked like finishing us off
