I heartily agree, I will never forget the abuse Mane got on this Forum. I don't know how these people can think of themselves as supporters. They aren't, they are self appointed expert critics who will rubbish anyone JWP has had a basin full of it for years, Forster was Enemy No1 for a long time. Now our present goaly get it in the neck what ever he does. And the manager gets rubbished as well. Reallyu they all performing a miracle to jkeep us in the Premier year on year when we haven't really got the resources to compete, but we manage it. Time some flags came out. Do other Clubs have moaning 'fans' like this, or is it just us?
-
WE are stronger in both full back positions-and have cover as well. I doubt we are weaker in attack, Danny was not always available and when he was not top form. AA will bring energy we lacked and Roja has fresh fire power, in fact the cover is so good there will be competition for every place, last season we had to play people out of position to get a team on the pitch. Of course we are stronger, the season promises well.

Who in their right mind would pay any of these players, not just Walcott, tens of thousands a week? Its obscene, it turns football into a parallel universe, one day the bubble will burst because it is unsustainable but meantime market forces dictate and so the players take the benefit. I don't blame Walcott he's worked hard for years, kept fit despite injuries and deserves the benefit as much as anyone else, more than most

Why all the fuss, disappointment and hostility? The Club's clear policy is to purchase young players of high potential which is more exciting for the fans and a better business model for the Club. Expensive stars have brought us near to ruin and produced next to nothing. Happy to back Lyanco and all the young hopefuls--a good season coming!
-
WE don't need him. We don't want more overload. No more over priced pricey stars, we've just got rid of them. Semmens and Ralph are rebuilding the Southampton Way: young and hungry stars in the making. I am now looking forward to the season, I was dreading it a month ago.
-
Yes that would be good but it has been a brilliant window anyway. Once we got rid of the dead wood from the era of errors we could start building with the money from sales and the wages freed up. We have a leadership working to a clear strategy and they are building us a proper future. The signs are very good. Better window than I dared hope.
-
Sad to say the days when any player for any club--not just us-- signs and stays are gone. I would like to go back to days when loyalty was at least a possibility but let's face it, there's no going back. So signing players with future value is the only way for a poor club like us can survive at top level--and our management are making a good job of it.
-
Reading these posts it is really embarrassing to see fans writing off a guy who hasn't even arrived. How do they know more than Crocker Semmens and Ralph? I believe this 'window' shows a consistent policy and that they are building a strong base. Lyanco deserves a big welcome-all the best young man, ignore the pessimists, shape your career with us.
-
Are fans beginning to realise that Crocker and Semmens actually have a policy and that Ralph is the man to make it work? It just took them a while to get rid of past failures and open the way but now we are taking shape, and I like the look of it.
-
Ralph has overseen-with Semmens and Crocker-the necessary clear out of past bad buys. He is at last getting his own young team to mould his way. Now is the time to get behind the manager, not the time to consider a new one who would want to rebuild all over again
-
Our buy small, sell big policy is beginning to work well. It has taken a long time to clear out the bad buys but the Crocker/Semmens/Ralph combine has done it. The young and hungry newcomers are giving me hope for the coming season. I think I may enjoy it after all. No more £20m wasters to ruin us, thank you, £5m youngsters are far more enjoyable to watch and pay us a dividend on and off the pitch.

Stuart and KWP got my 'Player of the Year' votes last season. Where are they?
-
Wasn't his career killed by off field issues? But while he was with us he had great energy and knew where the goal was-they all did in those two lower league years.
-
Exactly right! We will never compete with the clubs owned by billionaires (don't ask how they got their money) and the Semmens/Crocker/Ralph combine have done the best with limited resources, they have given us a good summer even if the latest isn't as well known as we expected.
-
Glad to hear it! The Ralph-Crocker-Semmens combine has done us proud so far, without any owner support. They and the player deserve our support not criticism even before the guy has set foot in the country
-
Oh dear, you do sound depressed. It's been a good window so far, no reason to think we've suddenly gone back to the bad days. Just think how well we have done on our tiny budget to still be in the same league as teams who can spend hundreds of millions on copious players ans pay them accordingly. We can't but we're still in the same league. Does that make you smile and feel proud?
-
it's bound to be a budget option. We live on a tight budget, that's the sort of club we are. That's why it's an amazing achievement to have stayed in the top flight as long as we have. We should celebrate our achievement, not moan about our limitations
-
Ralph and Semmens have had a good 'window' and possibly more still to come.Dead wood gone is a big achievement at last. Fresh blood in--young hopeful and hungry--and all on a mini budget. Please can we stop the gibberish about sacking Ralph, congratulate him on the achievement and support the young team heartily---but I would like a proper goalkeeper
-
Exactly! Wise words. We should be proud, not complaining, that the manager and the team continue to keep us among the elite without the financial means of the elite. The Club's policy means no Harry Kane for us, and that's a good thing. The rich are always so unhappy, Spurs Arsenal etc are always moaning. COYR

Wanyama was despised on this forum 'not fit to wear the shirt' and all that talk 'faking illness and never fit' but now he is suddenly better than JWP who hasn't missed match for two years. Why don't some fans appreciate players while we have them?
-
He's ours and he's valuable. If we are offered £60m I would think about it, before I said 'no'.
-
You're right, we have thrown away points from winning positions again and again. Most pundits on this forum bemoan the fact that we 'go all defensive' and play too deep, that we don't go for the second goal that would seal the win. Now you are recommending the opposite 'get an extra CB on, play deeper' etc. Poor manager! What ever he does he will upset half the fan base. I doubt 'play ugly' will win any matches, I am still hoping to play as Poch played, and that was anything but ugly.
-
Eddie Howe? God forbid! What are our fans thinking about? He's got a nice smile and he likes the South coast but we need more than that. Our problem is not the manager it is the ownership which doesn't finance the manager in the way the Premier League needs. What would Eddie--or anyone else--do about that?

Jannik Vestergaard - Official: Signs for Leicester
Dellman replied to ChiefScummer's topic in The Saints
I wouldn't touch him with a barge pole, accident prone, slow as Vest and as a result gives away free kicks
