  1. Does anyone remember Len Stansbridge, he and Sam Warhurst were goalkeepers immediately after the war. He let in some easy ones but stayed with the Club for years as groundsman. I used to see him going to the Dell on his pushbike as I walked to school, he always had a gardenjng tool attached. Probably never learnt to drive, not many people owned cars---different age but good fun.
  2. Absolutely true but in view of Ings popularity at the time it took cool nerve of the Club management to cash in on him. Then they repeated it with Vesty--two good moves for us, we are reaping the benefits, Villa and Leicester are reaping the whirlwind among their fans
  3. It's not just time he was given. After waiting years and being mocked on here, he has at last been given a squad rather than a team
  4. Couldn't understand a Southampton born fellow in the form of his life, the highest wage earner in the club, wanting a move. Sad really but he brought it on himself and we are better off.
  5. Good news, wish the guy the very best
  6. Is that historian fellow called FF, or something like that, still wanting to get rid of him?
  7. I see even Villa got rid of John Terry, where is he now (let him stay there) Not our type and where is Hughes? Also not our type. Haha we now have our type=from Semmens and Crocker down.
  8. WE have a manager who is a coach and has improved those willing to learn. Some managers are coaches, others are just dealers--remember 'Arry'-- and leave coaching to others. Broja and others are on to a good thing here.
  9. Big difference is Ralph has a proper bench for the first time with all the rubbish gone and some depth to his squad --good management team at last.
  10. The bottom three have gone, N'castle are safe, sad but true.
  11. Wise words! Some fans call that 'lack of ambition' and get upset, even angry. Seems like realism to me. Big clubs fans expect to win everything so are usually disappointed. For a small club we are doing well and I believe this is much admired by others.
  12. Well, what reasonable suggestion have you to make?
  13. If a manager doesn't answer the questions put to him, he would be in trouble for that. Maybe if the panel don't approve comments on the other team, they should not ask questions about the other team. Simple.
  14. Agreed, apart from the fact they only 'thought ' they were our best players.
  15. Couldn't put it better myself, thank you
  16. Theirs are expensive showmen, ours are workmen (still quite expensive, but not so much) Win or lose I prefer our setup
  17. I guess he will retire from football management and all the intense pressures, don't blame him, but there are loads of other football related activities without the heavy responsibility. Sounds like common sense to me.
  18. Roy Keane did a lot of personal harm to several inc that guy Haarland (?) when he broke his leg deliberately, he should have gone to prison but he's become a legend and now a TV pundit. Don't think I hate him but I certainly dislike him, of course Fergie idolised him.
  19. Our transfer method nowadays is a bit more sophisticated than pulling something out of the bag--that was old Harry's style. The present squad is shaping well, the bench is stronger. A GK is promised in the summer. OK by me!
  20. I agree but Ralph has also shown patience with us. Many would have quit. All the Gao years he had no investment and was left with a limited squad, inadequate bench and several wasters from previous regime hanging around.
  21. We have improved on him with clever scouting which is why a good offer may be accepted, If its N'castle a good offer should be £30m+ nothing less.
  22. There's only a day to go and no sign of others ready to come. if Delle feels welcome and loved he could well recover the form he has shown before. Mourinho has a lot to answer for with several players.
  23. We had to big him up to get rid of him
  24. This is what we have avoided and the dividend is beginning
  25. There's a big difference between his attitude and Theo's, a prima donna and a professional
