  1. He loves being different. As a Saints player we loved it too. But when it comes to basics of living he deliberately chooses the 'different' and just looks daft. Such a shame.
  2. No, Gareth Bale is nowhere near the best UK player. John Charles was capable as a titanic central defender who could turn into a free scoring striker but he never looked for glamour. Also, Duncan Edwards was shaping to be the greatest player of all time anywhere when he was killed.
  3. John Charles seems to be the forgotten man, he excelled in every position, in UK or abroad.
  4. All it says is that he is near the end of a great career, begun here and finishing here. Be proud of him
  5. In the old days we used to say 'never change a winning team'. I still believe that is a great principle but 'squad depth', 'benches,' and substitutions have changed all that, there are so many players to keep interested and happy so 'rotation' takes over. We are not so good at that.
  6. I like Salisu and have big hopes for him but last two games he has been completely off the pace, I don't see why Bednarek gets the blame its Salisu who suddenly become casual
  7. That's what I thought about Newcastle.
  8. He has probably had too much praise, too much publicity and is beginning to think the work is done, he is now the finished article who everyone wants. Management skill required!
  9. Is it on TV anywhere?
  10. Quite right, never thought I would support them down the road but I would against Liverpool, they have an even greater sense of entitlement than Man Utd in their prime and it all began when they raided our club--slimey snakes
  11. Agree with all that and couldn't have put it better but my greater dislike is Liverpool because of the way they wrecked the team we had built and won the title with our players Lambert first followed by Lallana, Lovren, Clyne, Virgil, Mane. Has any club ever destroyed another so completely? Its amazing we have recovered as well as we have
  12. Matty didn't really have a place in the football of his day---judging by the way England bosses ignored him (nine caps in all, I think). Saints played round him, he was the pivot, no England manager was willing to do that.
  13. When I saw the team s election I was annoyed but when I hard Ralph's explanation I understood--he is training them hard and telling them they are valuable to him and that he trusts them etc and so he has to prove his words by giving them opportunity ==and it worked perfectly!
  14. Impressive the way players I would never have chosen are fitting in and doing their bit, Smallbone and Djeneppo surprise me
  15. Good news, thanks
  16. Where can I see it on TV? Sorry if it has already been discussed
  17. Another cheap joke at Redmond's expense, sad, he's a Saint
  18. Sure that is the worst sub of all time, nothing can rival that in stupidity--why take off a goaly who is playing a blinder and has a clean sheet after 120 mins?
  19. I think we all know Broja is a work in progress, in fact he is not much more than a beginner, it is very early days. We can also see terrific potential and Ralph is as likely as anyone to polish the rough edges and that's what he needs and we need, I hope we are not doing it all, just for Chelsea's benefit.
  20. I think he does, as a Jew he claimed Israeli citizenship and that meant no visa required. That's the last I heard. It happened when UK govt began checking how the ultra rich had made their money and tried to refuse him entry. He took Israeli citizenship and that gave him entry. That's my memory.
  21. How many times have they done that already? They have become a club to avoid. Ralph inherited a mess here and its taken three years to sort out. Would he want to go through all that again--and under intense media scrutiny? Better to enjoy the fruit of his labours here, supported by a proper Board of football people. Cheers at last!
  22. He will (I hope)
  23. That manager had no coaching ability, no tactical skills but inspired man management--until he went to Leeds. It was his mate Taylor who did the real work
  24. W Wasn't number 11 shared by Wilf Grant and a guy called Hassall?
  25. The state of the pitches was unbelievable. From November on, the goalmouth was a quagmire, any shot on the ground would stick in the mud; now its like a billiard table all winter.
