Yep, Mason, Clattenburg & Madley are the worst by a long shot. Heard a story that Mason was booted out of the Midlands League for being totally rubbish in the past. Howard Webb was also really bad for us. So many penalties he gave to the oppo, but ignored our calls.

Monk. What would you describe as 'talent'? Be interested in your definition. Have 2 lads playing at Tier 3 academies, both been at level 1's before & have been let go. Older one for insufficient pace (physical) & younger one for 'not wanting it enough' (attitude). Neither of which has anything to do with talent. Both have 2 feet. Most lads I see in academies have only one foot. I have come to the conclusion that I clearly know nothing about football........................

Not sure Howe is the man to be England manager. I know a couple of lads who were at Burnley when he was there. A senior player & an academy player who thought he was not the type of bloke to be trusted. 'Back stabbing bastard' was the phrase used. Wouldn't surprise me if he is one of the implicated managers.......................

So lets get this clear. People at other football clubs, probably academies criticise Saints by suggesting we are racially profiling................. One of the most, if not most successful academy in the PL & Champ is being criticised by people who don't achieve what we do. Sounds like academy directors are being asked why they don't deliver what we do & are looking an excuse. I have experience of academies. I have come to the conclusion that they are all looking for Messi. Youngest was at Man Utd. All they want each year is one player to get close to the first team or be good enough to get sold on or be a Rashford. As an FYI, Rashford signed for Man Utd at 17/18 I think. Very few of the players Man Utd sign at 6, 7 or 8 are defenders. Its all about the ball & how they master it. Defenders are recruited after age 11 or switched from other positions. Stoke is different. We filled a form in with the history of height, illness & injuries when middle lad was 11. I think its actually quite naïve to think that things like this actually don't go on. It may even be subliminal. As for the author, he wants to write something to stimulate the purchase of his book...........................simple....................its worked, we are talking about it.

Hearing that Stoke are getting Indi Martins & Berahinho in today. Would have liked those two TBH. Certainly makes them stronger.

Listening to Pardew this morning, it sounded like Spurs were up to their usual tricks, tap up players agent, tap up player, unsettle player, offer rubbish fee & wait...............

I haver a feeling (hopefully wrongly) that we are being used to get someone else to stump up the cash...................................

I think Benteke would have been great for Saints personally. I reckon we are waiting for value. Prices are silly everywhere so we wait until other teams need the cash & we trade then. Not saying it's not risky, but wouldn't be surprised if no one else joins in this window. Hojberg looks excellent, Redmond has great potential, Pied is a bit of a no brainier & McCarthy improves our squad. Wanyama, Mane & Pelle are all very good footballers, but all of them went through periods of poor performance. In fact Wanyama was a liability on occasion. Mane went missing & sometimes looked like a park footballer. Pelle had the touch of a tree too in games. I worry teams are moving in front of us with some of their transfers, but TBH there is absolutely nothing we can do about it....

Ordered kits for my 9 & 13 year olds. They arrived yesterday. 9 year old is tall & slim so ordered in Youth XL. Shorts arrived & are bigger than the Small Mens I bought for 13 year old. Thought it was weird so checked sizes. They are 4 inches bigger. I tried them on (I'm 6ft 2in & 16stone) & they fitted me. Called the store & they are replacing them for medium boys. The guy measured them & said 'that's a bit strange' so be warned. If buying for kids - try the stuff on before you buy. We couldn't do that as we are 200 miles away. Have to say, club not really bothered. You would have thought that they would recall all of the oversized shorts...................... Not great PR & Service SFC!!

He was such an important signing for us 2 years ago. His contribution outstanding. Long took on his mantle & did superbly well. He will be missed, but I see why he has done what he has. Good Luck to him. Still think we need another striker though...........
