Taking the 2 youngest out of school for an hour..........................naughty!! to arrive early for some food. All I really hope for is an energetic attacking performance....................................I am not expecting one though.
-
I was hoping for top half. For me this season was/is about introducing more of the young players into the team & squad. In fairness to Puel he has done that. What I was also expecting was an offensive style of play. I think we will achieve the first two, but the offensive style is not to be seen anywhere.
-
Very disappointing. Conceding 9 goals in 3 games & 6 days is awful. If the stories of about a dressing room fall out are true then we have big problems. I want to give Puel a chance, but the dull, predictable & pedestrian football we play is not attractive to watch. Problem is I don't know what the alternative is?? Fonts today after the 3rd, VVD last game & no Bertrand today suggests something is wrong.........
-
It's not the formation that worries me, its the pace we play at. We are predictable, pedestrian & dull to watch a lot of the time. We have many players underperforming too. Even before his injury Tadic was pretty awful this season. Long hasn't scored in 21 games. Forster doesn't look like half the keeper he was. Fonte's contract nonsense. Redmond being very poor. Reed not buying a striker when we lost 2. There are many things to cause concern, but only some of it is Puel's doing. Like all managers he needs time. Yes, I would like us to switch back to 4-2-3-1 or even to a back 3, but that is unlikely. We were poor against Spurs, no doubt, but I think we were worse against Liverpool in the cup last year under Keoman & against Sunderland in the cup when Potchetino was manager. I am concerned, but really don't see what the better alternative is...................

We were great for 15 minutes then totally rubbish. We went too deep & back to the slow defensive style we have played a lot of the season. JWP & Redmond are not good enough. Thought Romeu was dead on his feet, but you can't excuse him fir losing Kane fir their goal. Also thought Hojberg was terrible when he came on. Seriously lacked effort. Tadic was poor too. I would go with McQueen & Sims against WBA. We didn't lose because of the ref, but he certainly helped them. If Redmonds us a red card then Rose should have got one too. He made no effort to win the ball & we were away down the wing & only got a yellow. How many times did they roll around looking for a free kick & then get straight back up? Dean got the big decision wrong & ignored Vertonghon smacking Jay Rod in the face. That is red in the rule book too. I know we won't get Schniederlin back, but he would walk into this team. We are too slow & very one dimensional.
-
I would take him back in a heart beat, but can't see it happening. Everton can maintain his wages & that's why he will go there. Also don't think he fits into the profile of the kind of player we sign.

Just in from the game. Sending off looked nasty, but we were a long way from it. Clearly changed the game & we were pretty predictable thereafter. There were some really poor performances. Redmond, Ward Prowse, Tadic, Jay Rod & Long in particular. Redmond is so easy to defend against. Simply show him left because all he can do is stand on that leg. Ward Prowse free kick was embarrassing. Long looks short of confidence. I was supporting Jay Rod on Sunday, but the miss tonight was awful. Long wouldn't have got there, but it was easier to score. As soon as he missed the whole teams heads went down. Getting fed up saying this, but we move the ball to slowly to hurt anyone. Corners were total rubbish. Special mention for the referee who decided to not award anything to us after the sending off. How Ward Prowse got booked for boot up when Whelans head was a foot off the ground was beyond me. Stoke did what they had too. Got bodies behind the ball & wasted as much time as possible. Pretty niggly nasty team as ever. Joe Allen dived at every opportunity too. Very disappointing & starting to get worried about Mr Puel & his tactics.

Hearing that Stoke have defensive injury concerns & Shawcross is having a fitness test. Also both full backs doubts. So it looks like a weakened Stoke defence V a weakened Saints attack + full strength Stoke attack V full strength Saints defence. I will go for a 0-0 then.................. See you there!!

Just back from the game. Saw it differently than some. The 3 stand out players today for me were Clasie, Boufal & in complete disagreement with some of you Jay Rod, who got my MOM. Why? Think he chased absolutely everything. Was even defending on the wing when Tadic went missing. Yep, he didn't look much of a goal threat, but my god his work rate was outstanding. Said it a 100 times, we play too slowly & without intensity. Crowd got on the players backs for going backwards, but when we kicked it long it came straight back. Thought Ward-Prowse was awful. Caught in possession, mis placed passes, not tracking as he should. I reckon Reed should be above him in the pecking order. Really pleased with the win. We needed it!

No point bollocking Puel, the players aren't good enough

It's Puels fault we move the ball so slowly. Seriously rubbish football. -

Absolutely rubbish. You can go on about the lack of a striker as much as you want, but IT IS his fault we play so slowly. I hate the fact that we move the ball at a slower rate than my lads under 10's team. Redmond was shocking again. -

Geeeeeez, we are the slowest Saints team in a long time. Not helped by a number of players giving the ball away constantly. Redmond, Romeu, Sims, Hojberg, Davis, Yoshi all pretty poor tonight. Getting p'd off with Redmond blaming everyone else & taking zero responsibility. Big change needed, very poor. -
Enjoyed reading that. Thanks.

Also shouldn't underestimate his attitude throughout his time at SFC. Not only does he looks like a model professional to me, he also appears to be a genuinely top fella!

Very pleased. Completely showed RK up. Start of the season I said Sims was the one to watch...................feeling pretty smug now. Happy..................

Its patently obvious to anyone with a brain we need to score more goals & take our chances. All well & good saying get a new striker in in January. The problem is who?? We went after Slimani, but the price went to £30m. Its just not what we do. Jay Rod is struggling. Badly! He looks a pale shadow of the player he was. Why are we surprised? With all the injuries he's had he deserves some time. IMHO that time would be better spent on loan in the Championship. Long has been out injured too. He's never been prolific, never will be. He's a nuisance & excellent at that role. Redmond isn't a striker. Lets just accept it. We lost Pelle & Mane. Yep, we got £50m for the 2 of them, but we simply haven't replaced them. Not sure who we can get to even try. VVD was poor last night. Not saying he is a poor player. He had a bang average at best game. That stands out as he has been so good this season. Martina simply isn't good enough to play in this system. I can think of so many goals conceded that have been from his side. I have been wanting to give Clasie a chance. Think last night was my decision made that he needs moving on in the summer. Not even close to Schniederlin. Can we stop saying JWP is a set piece specialist please. His delivery last night was rubbish. 3 times his corner didn't beat the first man. Rubbish. That was a really poor performance. Cant dress it up we were s h 1 t e! Worst of all is the pace we play at. I have been moaning about it all season. We are so slow. We move the ball slowly. We lack pace. We are one dimensional. Thought Hull was bad, this was worse!! -
We play so slowly.......................we desperately need to find some energy from somewhere. No doubt, today is a bad result..................
-
That was a game of 2 halves if ever there was one. Thought we were pretty poor first half. We were so slow, lacked energy & a number of players were playing poorly. Jay Rod really struggled, Romeu misplaced more passes in 45 minutes than he has all season, Tadic was as frustrating as ever, worst ive seen Redmond all season, Martina has such poor body position when defending. On the flip side, VVD, JWP & Yoshi were very good. Pleased with the win & think we can get even better!
-
Never a pen. Tadic takes a Burnley away penalty again, total s h I t penalty. Never let him take one again! We are so so f ' ing slow! That was rubbish Saints, rubbish. We can't stop giving the ball away, very poor.
-
Martina was very poor. Similar poor defending by him against Inter & City. Worst game Davis has had for a long time. Could also say the same of Tadic & Redmond. Big problem for me is just how slow we are.......
-
Apparently my lads think I am a perv............................for constantly looking at some of the most beautiful backsides I have ever seen!!
-
Great result. Romeu excellent. Think Tadic has been poor last 2 games. I would rest him for Sunderland. Last 2 goals conceded both came from right back. Martina could have done better imho. Well done Saints!
