Probably gonna get shot for this, but I dont think we played well in an attacking sense, but were miles better defensively. If Pardew is building the solid foundation first he has in my opinion succeeded. I thought the first was a pen & the second a joke, but I aint complaining. Many of us have suggested a winger with pace & I think that is where we are lacking as we dont have any pace or a man that go can past the outside of a full back. I love reading other peoples marks for players as I thought Saga played well in a way that Lambert does not. He chased everything & did not give defenders time on the ball. Hammond was our best player on the day, but IMHO only Morgan has a real touch of class. His passing is better than the rest of the team, but maybe he does not have the defensive strengths of a Case or Horne. They had a lot more shots than us, but most of them were from outside the box which does not worry me to much as the only way they are gonna is with a 25 yarder as they dont happen to often. Happy with the win & we will never know how much not winning was weighing on us so bag the points - move on to the next game & improve little by little.

Very very disapointed. 3 league games at home without a win - not good. Even worse when they have 10 players. I dont want Pardew to go or anything like that & I am not expecting miracles, but 4 points from 18 is not good enough.

Even Brighton are winning.

FWIW my middle nipper has been up at Stoke training & I was told by a couple of coaches up there that there was talk of Pullis coming down to us as manager, but that was at least 18 months ago. Pretty much from that moment on Stoke went on a run that got them promoted & we almost got relegated until Pearson came in. They also reckoned Pullis jnr could do a job in Div 1! Shut up Corky!

Couple of other things from yesterday. Why do we not have anybody up when the opposition has a corner. It bugs the hell out of me as when the ball is cleared all they needed to do was hump it back in our box. Even they kept a striker up the park when we had a corner & they were not at home. Not impressed by the ref today. Am I ever?

Been back an hour now & I agree with what Minty said earlier. We lack real width & pace. We lack composure when teams press high up the park. I am convinced if Murty had been playing that they wouldnt have scored. We needed someone to put the full back in row Z as he ran through where as James, Thomson & a couple of others just watched. Exactly what Hunt did to Morgan just after we scored. I thought Trotman played well. Brentford.....Hoooofff. The only time they played football they bl00dy scored. A bit to early to have a dig at Pardew, but I have to say I was hoping for a better start than we have delivered. There are signs of improvement, but I wish we had a proper winger who ran at defenders & crossed! (Probably costs £20m in this market). I think we can learn from teams like Brentford though who press high up the park & work right til the end. I was impressed by their left full back & keeper. 6 out of 10 performance for me.

I thought that the first time I saw him & if anything he has got worse. Every time i hear about Matt Mills I get angry - he could & should have been playing for us right now.

We have seen more managers come & go in the last 12 years than I care to remember. Without doubt Pardew has his faults, they all do (Strachan & Telfer), but IMHO its far to early to pass judgement. I wasnt there last night so cant judge that, but its fair to say that the vast majority of fans who were there & have posted on here have said both he & the team were poor so I will believe them. However I have been to the home games & I saw some positives. I dont understand why Holmes & Gillet are not playing, but I think Harding, Murty & Lambert are decent signings. I will not pass judgement until after Christmas & even then its probably to early. What he inherited was so bad even the best motivator in the world would struggle. Lowe legacy will haunt us for a while yet I am sorry to say. Lets hope we put in a cracking performance on Saturday.

Very disappointed with the result. They had not scored all season as well. We have to give Pardew time. He inherited a crock of **** & we want instant results. Well it was never likely to happen. FWIW we dont just need a centre half we need some pace & width. It will be interesting to see how Pardew responds in the media.

TBH cant say I have seen much of this guy, but I have faith in Pardew & the fact that CU fans are so disappointed. A CB & a winger & I will be a happy boy. COYR!

The only thing I regret is engaging with you! So you worked in the city, with jonah maybe? Then you should have understood exactly how much of an imbecile Rupert was. The biggest mercenary in football & that is saying something. From what I hear, he only has a couple of supporters left at WH Ireland - so he wont be there very long either! (I work for a city company too 19C!) Why dont you take some advice from me? - Dont judge my kids & I wont judge yours. Mine are doing rather well thank you very much. Based on sound parenting. FWIW Oldest boy is performing above average for his age & middle boy is about to get enrolled on the gifted & talented programme with exam results 2 years above his age & a reading age of 10 years & 9 months. He has been training up at Stoke & has more determination & enthusiasm than most if not all his peers. Hasper - his grandad tought at various universities & I have 2 degrees! I am a terrible example for my boys - get up & go to work, play with them, read with them, spend time with them, tell them I love them - absolutely f'ing shocking example - call social services! Its real simple. If someone calls my boys a 'scummer' they will call them a skate. They dont go shouting skates at them first - its me calling them 'fish *****ers'! They understand the consequences - well as much as 6 & 8 year olds understand the consequence of anything. Chill out!

So 19C is judging my boys? My lads have respect for everybody whatever their creed or colour. The oldest 2 (8 & 6) know what scummer means as we have heard it from many of the blue few when we are in the states on holiday. The immediate response is to respond with 'Skate or you must be a skate'. If the 'fish ****er' (which is what i would have called them) says something like 'oh its a saints fan' my boys would say you must be a member of the blue few. Speak as you find i think we call it. Its a fine line 19c between being bullied or being a bully. My boys know where that line is & are some of the most polite & honest kids you would ever meet. Still not sure why I am justifying that to you mind? I reckon the car with dice was probably my sisters who was visiting for the weekend. I have seen Saints fans all over the place. The States, Dubai, Monte Carlo. If you go to a couple of the bars in Minneapolis you will find saints stuff behind the bar. And my local in Orlando had a saints flag behind the bar as well.
