  1. Connolly was very good against Exeter. The forwards got very little service & he chased everything. Trotman is a defender first & foremost. He does not have great skill on the ball, but he defends well in my opinion. Antonio has potential, but is still young. I dont know what people expect for division 3, i really dont. If you were at Leeds you would have seen a big side with 1 or 2 decent players. Kisnobo has failed in the divisions higher & he was their rock who did not really give Lambert a kick. Not many of their players were house hold names & they are top of the league. I am starting to get really ****ed off with some fans who just moan & criticise all the time. FFS we didnt exist in the summer - or nearly didnt!
  2. James's best match for me this year was at Walsall where he played right midfield & in my opinion that is where he is at his best. He wont go past players, but he is capable of delivering a good cross, but as someone else said on another post for every good cross there is a bad one. If you play Lallana on the left playing James on the right makes sense as he is more defensive. He is awful in central midfield as I dont think he is creative enough & at right back he is too slow. All in all he is a decent squad player & an important member of the squad.
  3. FFS we lost! From where we were in August we are miles better, but we still need more work. We were not good on Boxing day, but this is not the end of the world. We still have a slim chance of the play offs, but I think this & the Leeds result gives Pardew more ammunition to get better players in. Onwards & Upwards.
  4. We won. I thought we were great for 15 minutes after half time & pretty poor for much of the rest of the match. I know a lot will disagree, but Exeter pressed harder than us, won more second ball, but simply dont have a Morgan or a Lallana. That said we are winning when we play porly so onwards & upwards.
  5. Whilst it was easy to see why Leeds fans dislike him, he was clearly down on confidence as the crowd boo'd him before kick off what he has in abundance is pace & skill. IMHO he would be a quality addition to our squad. That said, it aint never gonna happen!
  6. We were clearly watching different games mate as I thought James was terrible. His passing was poor, won nothing in the air, odd decent tackle & created nothing! Football really is a game of opinions.
  7. Just back myself. We missed Morgan. He has the ability to spread play & keep possesion. Lloyd James was shocking. I am not one of those that give him grief every week so dont think I am having a go for the sake of it because he was outstanding at Walsall, but today gave a 2 out of 10 performance. Passing was poor, odd decent tackle & zero creativity. Waigo was terrible too. Jaidi & Perry were excellent. Leeds were the better team on the day. Both teams resorted to a bit of hoof ball. I thought Pardew could have been braver & rather wait for them to score & make subs, change it at 0-0. I would have put James on the right, Wotton in the middle & taken Waigo off, but All things being equal we have to accept that today we were beaten & move on to beat Exeter on Boxing day.
  8. Dont start the 'I aint coming if Lowe is around' debate again!
  9. P.S. My 'funny of the day' had to be the tannoy announcement after about 50 mins... "Attention Mr blah blah, your wife has phoned and requested that you call her IMMEDIATELY, repeat IMMEDIATELY" - ******* superb! Nothing will ever compete with the meat draw at Oldham! It was like a working mans club in the seventies.
  10. Thoroughly professional performance from Saints. Special word for James, Morgan & Connolly. Female lino was shocking! I wish Bart would dominate his box more. I was worried about Perry, but he also played well. Absolutely no downsides today - as we always win 3-1!
  11. I couldnt believe we were out numbered in midfield in the first half & we had 5 players in there. The 2 goals at half time flattered us & I thought we just relaxed too much when the 3rd went in. Mind you, I dont know what Lallana had to do to get a free kick today. Ref was very poor. I thought there right back looked decent & one to keep our eyes on. Good result though - onwards to round 3 we go.
  12. You can put me down for 3 places! Just let me know where & when. Corky
  13. No thanks - I heard he was a terrible influence & i didnt think he was a team player. Lost count of the amount of times he blamed other people for mistakes & took absolutely no responsibility for his own failings. IMHO he was one of our worst signings ever.
  14. We were due a beating. Probably kick up the arse we need. Saints = Hoof. Only players to come out with any credit are Davies, James, Antonio & Thomas.
  15. I have a client who has one at The Walkers Stadium. He leverages it to get new clients. Not sure I would do it, but an increase in revenue for Saints at the moment is good news.
  16. This is off topic now, but I have a number of Bolton fans as clients & they are starting to get fed up with the PL. They are not gonna win it, they dont look like going down - in their words 'its all a bit boring'. They miss the promotions & relegations. They dont expect to beat the top 4 at home or away. They look forward to about half the home games. Maybe it is something to do with Megson & Alledyce's style of football as they often moan about that too. Maybe they are simple northerners who just moan a lot?
  17. Thought it was interesting how Cortese mentions that the academy has been 'neglected' for the last few years!
  18. For me the 2 players I remember most from being a kid are Phil Boyer & Ivan Golac. Pudding MacDougall as my dad called him was not a favourite. Stevie Williams was top quality too.
  19. MK are shocking team. They never looked like scoring & were all about chasing & bullying then hoof. We on the other hand passed as much as we could, but they held a very very high line which limited the space in the middle of the park. The 2 guys in centre mid were simply bullies who could not play football. That guy is simply bitter at having his arse kicked.
  20. For me it reads Trotman, Hammond, Harding, Lambert. All of them have been excellent. I was in Leeds yesterday working & as you would imagine we got onto football. All 5 of the guys i spoke to said that Harding was poo for them! Couldnt believe they were talking about the same player.
  21. I watched all the show - as I normally do, but have to say I was left disapointed. As somebody has said earlier. It was a witch hunt. The only person to come out of it with any credit was Bonnie Greer IMHO. I thought the tory lady was appalling. She never listened to a word any of the panelists said let alone Nick Griffin. I dont agree with the BNP on any issue with the exception of one (I would certainly consider monitoring immigration more closely would have a maximum allowable each year which takes into account those leaving), but to listen to the others trying to out point score each other was laughable. It was also quite interesting how the BBC had Bonnie Greer sit next to him & the tories rolled out a female muslim. The reason BNP won seats in the European elections was because politicians from all parties were & are untrustworthy & have been milking the system for years. East Lancs & Yorkshire where they won seats are riddled with racist tensions. The BNP played on that as well. What all parties should be doing is taking a long hard look at why this has happened & show some regret for the way they have acted & show humbleness to the average voter for tolerating them for so long.
  22. Quite simply the very worst newspaper printed.
  23. I would put signing him in January as priority no 1!
  24. I think Morgan is a class act. He makes mistakes, no doubt, but he sees a pass well before most of our players & makes himmself available anywhere on the park. For me possession of the ball makes it impossible for the opposition to score - I think he is our best player in that kind of environment. Lallana has always had loads of potential. I remember the finish at the baggies & thought the boy can play. Lets hope they can maintain their current form. Although a wet day in Oldham might make a difference - cant wait until Saturday!
  25. I think its fair to start judging a manager after 10 games. The facts are we have won 9 points out of 30 & that is not good enough. I dont want him fired, but he & the players have to take a look at themselves & say are we doing all we can? I dont think they are! Pardew has forgotten about Holmes & Gillet which is a mistake IMHO, but i dont believe either to be a world beater - simply better than the players that are given chances week after week.
