Finally got the kids in bed & read everyones comments. Agree with most. I though Lallana was awesome today. I thought Morgan was great as well. We were always gonna be suspect to the pace they have, but we should have been 2 or 3 up by then. Some people have gone on about Lallana's chances, but the miss of the day was Waigo's header at the back post. Grant's & O'Hara's comments post game will come back to haunt them. Both of them are sanctimonious ****s. Make no mistake even though it was 4-1 they were very very lucky today & Calamity had his best game of the season according to some of the blue few. Not as convinced about O'Hara as some of you. If Huddlestone gets a game in front of him he cant be that good. I thought he was OK, but only came into the game when we were chasing it. Only nagatives were Ricky taking the corners & once again our set piece delivery was poor again. I cant deny that it does not hurt, but I reckon most of the fish ****ers were still surprised to see more than 30000 at a game of football in Hampshire!

Nicola wants better League Results

For me its all about motivation. IMHO & trying to keep it as simple as possible there are only 2 types of motivation. The first is the carrot (toward). ie, win bonuses, public accolade, professional respect etc. The 2nd, more powerful is away. ie, the stick. It has been proven many times that you are more likely to run faster from a pack of lions than you are from simply trying your best. Maybe NC is just letting AP know that standards have dropped & he is expecting more. Making it public means that AP cant hide behind rubbish pitches for poor performances. I have a client whose client is NC & they say he is all over them all of the time. Admittedly they are private bankers & he was a private banker so knows a lot more than the average client, but often in their opinion they have to go back to the agreed expectations to manage him. Maybe that is what AP needs to do? But maybe ML & NC agreed new expectations with AP when they spent the money they did in January? I dont think anyone wants AP to be sacked. I certainly dont, but it appears from what I am watching we have gone backwards in recent weeks & I think it reasonable for me as a fan & NC as chair to be able to comment about that. -
Just looking at the programme with my nipper & noticed that Taylor who scored yesterday scored exactly the same goal at St Mary's earlier this season. That worries me as we have made the same mistake again & that in a professional sence is unacceptable.
-
Mills & James!!! Just checked BBC site - we had 45% possession. I know stats can be mis-leading & we had more chances, but Exeter were the one trying to play football today.
-
To be fair you cant blame AP for the shocking delivery at set pieces today. Corners & free kicks were absolutely shocking.
-
1. Why was he the one behind Lambert at throw ins & when we were attacking (& defending) 2. Gillet, Wotton, Hammond, Morgan even Puncheon or Lallana OR either of Exeter's 2 central midfielders........ 3. No he went alongside Lambert, but was then told to go wide when Otsemembor went off. 4. Not when Antonio could have played there & you contradicted point 3 as I thought he was playing on the wing? Lallana was on the left by the way so dont say left wing or did we have 3 wingers playing on the wings?

I dont think anyone is saying we should sack him. Having seen 4 out of the last 5 games & 22 this season - I think we have gone backwards since our win at Walsall. We were awesome that day & it would be churlish to think we could have kept that up, but today some of his decisions were very very strange. Someone was mentioning Mills & Seabourne versus Jaidi & Harding & he was right they were injured & got replaced, but what did Perry do wrong? He was great at MK Dons & has not played since. Sorry to say & I hope I am wrong, but the 4 times I have seen Seabourne this season have not filled me with any kind of pride. I just dont know why we signed him. He does not look any better than Jaidi, Perry, Trotman or even Thomas as a centre half. He may come great, but he looks like a non-league hoofer to me James was shocking today. Again I hope I am proved wrong, but every time I have seen him play in the middle of midfield he looks shocking. He played Ok in a 5, but in a 4 man midfield he looks lightweight & we simply carry him. Gillet deserves his chance over him IMHO. I hope Pardew is here for 10 years & is very very succesful, but we do not appear to be improving. Surely as a paying supporter I can question his substitutions & tactics? I played to a reasonable standard. I am not a numpty. Remind me, what standard did Mourinho play? Lawrie Mac? Even Wenger was not a particularly good player... Come on Pardew......lets start working on the set plays & building the momentum & desire to perform again!!!!
-
We were awesome at Walsall & I think we have gone backwards since then. Its not the results - its the performances. We were poor at Brantford, Millwall & against Stockport. I believe we were better second half against Ipswich, but TBH I was away for the weekend so missed it.
-
Just read his comments - excuses if you ask me. Little honesty about how we were the poorer side & the only thing I agreed with him was how poor our set plays were. Shocking. Who was marking Taylor for their goal? Was it Lambert or Fonte? Poor defending whoever it was. AP - we were ****!!!!
-
I am looking forward to AP's comments. It will be interesting to see how honest he is in his assessment??????

I am just back from the game. This has to go down for me as one of our worst performance of the season. I am a big supporter of Pardew, but today he got about everything wrong. Firstly playing Puncheon as a striker alongside Lambert was wrong. Then playing James in central midfield was wrong. Then bringing Waigo off & playing Antonio as a striker was wrong. Then bringing Thomas on & playing Otsemebor as a winger was wrong. Then leaving it so late to bring on Barnard was wrong. True, the pitch was shocking, but for me that was an excuse because Exeter were loads better on the same pitch. In the home game Exeter played some of the best football we have seen at St Mary's when they went down to ten men. Today they were looking to play the pretty stuff while we hoofed it to often. Ratings Davis 6 Good save second half - not much to do Otsemebor 5 Woeful first touch Mills 6 A lot better 2nd half, but some poor passing Fonte 6 Reasonable game Seaborne 5 Honestly dont know why we bought him. I have seen him 4 times this year & Trotman, Perry & Jaidi are all better Puncheon 6 Lots of effort, but wasteful James 4 Terrible. He can not play CM in a 4 man midfield Waigo 4 Pardew - he scores if he is a striker Morgan 5 Did not like the conditions, but at least tried to pass the ball Lallana 6 Quality goal - the rest was average at best Lambert 4 Very poor game. Barnard won more in the air in 5 minutes - needs a rest Why Pardew did not bring on Barnard earlier is beyond me then to play Puncheon & Antonio alongside Lambert before him was a very very poor decision. FWIW - no play-offs for us!

Not from Shropshire mate! It takes 2 1/2 - 2 3/4 to get to home games 180 miles each way. Thank **** for Nintendo's & chocolate or mine & VFTT's boys would cause havoc!
-
Very interested to see which team AP puts out in light of the JPT & FAC games coming up. I bet he plays Lambert & Barnard up front though & Puncheon starts as he cant play in either. Really looking forward to it tomorrow, but not the 3+ hour drive to get there!

Jason Puncheon to Saints according to SSN

I think there is some value in what you are saying. I think AP is looking for a more fluid system where he can change the set up of the team mid match. i.e. going from 4-4-2 to 4-5-1 to 4-3-3. -
Sensible comments from Pardew - as ever!
-
Will be my nippers first Saints - Poopey match. I cant wait. All the pressure is on them. If we work as hard as we can as a team & commit to every ball I will have no issue whatsoever if we lose. Co on you ****ing red & white machine!
-
Saints were professional if not unspectacular. Morgan was playing very well, but the 2 who stoof out for me were Wotton & Thomas. Both showed experience when required. James did well playing alongside Morgan & Wotton. Also worth mentioning Mills who was subbed as a sub last game. He did the defensive work very well. Did not bomb forward like Harding, but a good performance. Ref was shocking! Thomas gets studded on the chest - no booking, we point a finger - yellow card. MK are a typical Ince team - they do have some quality, but you just dont like them. Gleeson is a prize **** as well.

The Semi-annual 'Would you want David Prutton back?' thread
corky morris replied to Arizona's topic in The Saints
Utter rubbish! Quashie is a complete waste of space. His attitude stank when he was with us. Danns is a different player altogether & Stock could compliment Morgan. Morgan is one of best players & is probably the best passer we have. Back to Prutton. I was gutted when he left - And Oakley because the replacements we had were a lot worse, but from what I hear from a few Leeds supporting clients he is their best paid player on £12k per week & he does not earn anywhere near it. So No - I wouldnt want him back. -
I think he is a decent player. I remember him playing for Crewe & Norwich against us & thinking he was decent. Good deal IMHO for free.
-
Or we subsidise them like Chelsea did with LeSaux when he played for us.

Looks like Norwich are in for Whitbread! I thought we might try for him, but would prefer Ward if we can get him. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12874_5837402,00.html

Personally think he is a decent squad player with little risk as his contract is out in the summer. He has bags of pace & potential - just hoping he can lift his game a few more notches like he did against MK Dons at St Mary's earlier this season.
