  1. Renewed mine & my oldest 2 lads this morning & bought 1 for my dad as a thank you for all he does!!!!!
  2. All that does for me is confirm what I have always thought about Graham Taylor, Terry Venables, Glenn Hoddle & the English media.........that they would not know a quality footballer if it hit them!!!! You never hear of any overseas international saying "when I was a kid i idolised Sherringham or Anderton"
  3. Southend fan at work reckons Francis is good going forward & can deliver an excellent cross, but lacks defensively. Gets caught out of position & not the best tackler. Just sharing..........
  4. Interesting. I though Mills has done a cracking job at LB when called on. I could see him pushing Harding next season. He came on at LM & was substituted last season so I am a long way from being convinced he can compete with Lallana.
  5. I really like it. Wife just said its going to be a buggar to clean with 9,7 & 3 year old lads!!! Women eh???
  6. Quality response!! - A professional is at work, at last at our football club.
  7. It is normal to have review meetings!!!!! Does not mean you are gonna get fired. These chaps (NC/ML) are professionals - they will expect AP to articulate a plan for next year & a summary of last..............
  8. NC was a private banker. I deal with them all the time, indeed spent a decent amount of time with them in Geneva. IMHO they are a certain breed. They are mostly fiercly bright, very conservative & their priority is to look after the primary needs of their clients. I would summarise them as control freaks if I was pushed. They are very conscious of keeping things private & will provide information on a pre-determind & agreed before hand basis. Who are/is NC's client? Is it us the fans or is it ultimately ML? FWIW I think NC is looking after ML's aspirations & objectives. If they are both disappointed they will share that with AP in a very civilised are organised manner. They will expect him to be able to articulate in some detail what has worked out & what has not & indeed what he intends to do to improve things. IMHO they will not fire him on a whim. They will express concern/disapointment with certain things & offer an upcoming period of review (maybe Christmas) for him to deliver on their objectives. By their very nature they are not public figures or will not go out to court publicity. Things will be kept 'off the radar'. They will not be too triumphalist in success & equally not be too aggressive in disappointment. Cards will be held close to their chests & shared when they see fit. Believe me, even though there is frustration with season ticket details & lack of public support for AP there will be a plan being upheld behind the scenes. I think we are getting carried away with a number of little things (some may think they are big things) & that they are conducting their business behind closed doors & simply dont feel the need right now to say anything else. You can come up with as many conspiracy theories as you like, but I aint buying them. If they want to fire AP - he will be the first to hear once the decision has been taken by the executive (NC & ML). IMHO NC was expressing a genuinely held view that we should have made the play-offs when he spoke in March/April. I dont see what is wrong with that. That in itself does not mean AP is going to be fired. Without thinking about NC, ask yourself what your view of a Swiss private banker would be? Would you expect him to be mouthy or loud? Brash, arrogant? From my experience they are far more considered & retiring. Absolutely they can be ruthless, but it normally comes after a period of reflection. I have a client who NC is a client of. They tell me, off the record that he is a ba$t@rd to deal with. All over them, asking questions, keeping them on their toes. In theyre opinion it is not at all pleasant, but they keep taking him back to his agreed objective & then he may moan a bit, but he is back on track. Does anybody remember RL on MOTD after we beat Blackburn talking about how Sturrock was not facing the sack?? What did he do the next day? Fired him. NC would not do that. He has let AP know, publicly that he is expecting more which IMHO is letting AP know that he needs to deliver - if he does not - he will be fired. The time table is the point of question. As I say, this is all my opinion & whilst I dont want AP fired I do think NC/ML have a plan that they wish to execute & they will do all in their power to deliver on it.
  9. I love Portland - spent a week there working 4 years ago. Ace place, just like England should have been!! Sorry this aint about football.
  10. Me & 3 lads aged 9, 7 & 3 currently singing 'Super Ricky Lambert' on the beach at Anna Marie Island!!!! Americans looking at us with blank faces!! COYR
  11. Is he your new pet hate Dave? You gave me **** about Maddison & Telfer as well!! He is the best we have available at the moment, but no, I would not keep him for next season. I think AP has a player in mind. Dont know who, but his comments about producing a team that can compete in The Champ makes me think none of what we have are good enough at RB.
  12. Poor performance today, but the win is all important. A bit disappointed with Pardews post match comments & his substitutions. I thought Barnard was running his heart out & was offering double what Lambert was. What does Pardew do? Take him off & bring on Antonio to create a formation that worked so badly at Brighton. Whilst Puncheon & Lambert were key to the second goal, I thought the rest of the time they were pretty poor. He then says in his post match comments that Barnard was not at his best & Puncheon was a class above. FFS Pardew, give Barnard 90 minutes & realise that even very good players like Puncheon & Lambert can have off days. I am also totally confused by his desire to bring everyone back for corners. We dont have an outlet. He even does it when we are 3-0 up. Scowcroft had won loads in the air today so to leave Lambert marking him for their corners was ameturish. He lost him quite a few times. I am not saying I want rid of Pardew or anything like that, but he confuses me some time with his some of his tactics & substitutions. I thought Seabourne did well with the basics in defence & of course Lallana was outstanding.
  13. My oldest 2 lads, my sister, my nephew & my dad had a cracking day. Loved every minute. MLT behind us made it even better. I thought Saints won at a canter, but Carlisle actually played some neat tidy football at times, but simply did not have the finishing or solidity at the back we had. Well done AP, the players & all the loyal Saints fans!!!!!
  14. Tottenham - Cup game we lost 6-2! The 180 mile drive home that night was f'ing awful. And Grobs was f'ing shocking! Then all the Hoddle, Dean Richards stuff..........BUT then when we beat them 3-0 in the cup at SMS where Andres Svensson was f'ing awesome & getting Hoddle the sack at WHL made it all feel a lot better........but I still dont like them!
  15. Its been bothering me for a while. AP's plan 'B' is to bring on Waigo to add some pace, but Waigo is offside more than he is on & Barnard looked a lot more of a threat at Tranmere than Lambert did, but he is untouchable. I feel for the lad & IMHO I dont think AP is handling him very well. VFTP reckons he has to 'like it or lump it', but different people respond differently to different styles of management. He has had a full 90 minutes once for us & that was against Norwich.
  16. Jaidi & Font were awesome. No-one in this division can live with Lallana & Puncheon when they are in full flow. Morgan is absolutely f'ing awesome. He pulls all our strings. Ref was shocking. Only negative for me is Pardew keeps on subbing Barnard. Give him 90 minutes please!
  17. Interesting watching that. Lallana's shot cleared off the line for the goal & that was never a pen. He fell over!! Interesting they never showed the free kick & the 2 pen shouts for us & their first goal took a massive deflection & people are moaning about AP??????
  18. Barnard was pushed in the box. He did not try anything - he was pushed. I was right in front of it. I understand the need to be balanced, but I am sorry you are wrong about the Barnard one. What about Broomes arms accross his chest then he back passes & the keeper picks it up? What about their free kick for the goal. There were so many mistakes from the man in the pink - eventually as an individual who is passionate you get frustrated. Lambert is fouled more than most & rarely goes over & gets next to nothing. For me their chap went over & he gave a pen. I dont think it was a pen, but I was miles away so will bow to the TV as & when I see it. And if Puncheon & Lallana simply hugged the by line they would not score like JP did against Walsall & Huddersfield & AL did against AL.
  19. In fairness to Tranmere they pressed the ball well. I was not sure they could do it for 90 minutes, but they got every decision going from the most inept referee I have seen for a very very long time. By the way - Davis made a save at 1-1 when the linesman called for a foul - ref played on even though almost everyone had stopped & they had a shot. Top top class save. 4 incidents in the 2nd half he got wrong. Both pen shouts. The foul on Barnard as Broomes held him off - then he back passed to the keeper who picked it up. If Mr Quinn ever refs again it will be a disgrace to the integrity of the game!
  20. IMHO the way we played at Exeter which was 4-5-1 ish was worse than today - loads worse. That day I will place a large proportion of the blame at AP's door. Today was completely different. Puncheon & Lallana did not really get going, but part of that was down to the numerous times they got played before the ball & the ref ignored it. It was not AP's fauly today. I have never written to the FL before, but if I were ever to do it about a referee it would be today. He was absolutely inept! Actually as NorthernSaint said earlier I think he was a cheat. It was his hand gesturing saying everything was an accident as they continued to go through the back of us. fair play to them - they got away with it.
  21. Just back - 2-1 to the referee!!!!!!!! We did enough to win - JUST. Lallana & Barnard missed 2 good chances. We had 2 defo pens. 1 for a push & Fonte was clipped. There was also a clear foul on Barnard by Broomes as he is running through whose arm is accross his body stopping him from getting in front of him. He kept saying to Saints players that the players were coming together! Utter joke. The ref was shocking totally shocking. In the first half Tranmere were repeatedly all over us for headers often watching the man & not interested in the ball. Their first goal did not look like a free kick in the first place, but we defended badly leaving their centre half to be marked by Puncheon. A number of players did not play well including Puncheon, Lallana & Hammond. I dont know what Lambert has to do to get a free kick? As far as I am concerned our play off push is over & we win need to learn to win ugly.
  22. We play everything through him. At Leeds we missed him terribly. Is he ready for the prem? Not sure, but time is on his side & i personally I have little doubt about his ability to be able to play at that level. For me he is every bit as important as Rickie Lambert. As you can tell by now, I think the boy is top class.
  23. He is simply deflecting from what is happening at the blue few to try & get some sympathy. Absolute muppet.
  24. No. He has undoubted pace, but the first touch of seal!
  25. The boy is quality & IMHO is going to be a Premiership footballer some day.
