Its not about scoring another goal - its about taking pressure off your defensive line further up the field.................... Mourinho used to go on about how shallow the tactic is. It allows another player from the opposition to be in your box as they would never leave AOC 1 on 1 with a defender. My god - some times I worry about our fans footballing knowledge????

What a stupid remark. Because if you have no-one up field the ball is just flung back into our box causing more problems.............It also allows them to leave just 1 person on the centre line not 2. I reckon some people on here are abso****inglutely clueless!!!! Most managers think it is a very narrow minded defensive ploy that simply does not work........AOC did well whilst blocking the shot at Peterboro didnt he?????!!!!! .........Oh!!!

I find it funny that Adkins is getting so many plaudits for his substitutions today..................He should have started with Morgan & Barnard in the bloody first place!!!!! Also - why do we have no one up for corners???? Come on Adkins, 3-1 up at home & all the men are back for one of their corners.............

Just in. Some very good goals. Cant believe some people were giving Hammond a 6. I thought he was a 4 at best until Morgan came on & then maybe a 5. We have to start with Morgan & Barnard on Tuesday, leave out Hammond & Guly. I thought our passing first half was terrible. Other thing that made me laugh is all the people on here going on about Butterfields distribution. He must have given the ball away at least half a dozen times first half. Good win. Need another Tuesday.

Not good IMHO. Adkins does not appear to be a brave manager to me. Substitutions are strange too. Time to give Guly a rest me thinks.

You have some very valid points. But there are many people who earn similar amounts in the private sector who either pay into their pension or dont. They have on the whole money purchase schemes which are linked to equities or bonds or other types of fluctuating assets. Personally think that pensions linked to contributions rather than service has been required in the civil service for years. Its what we have had in the private sector for many years. Dont forget any pensions in payment are taxed at your marginal rate. So if you save & contribute the government is gonna get their share............AGAIN! The new system looks fairer to me. Its the same for all of us.

That woman is without doubt the most useless & stupid politician I have ever had the misfortune to hear speak. She is closely followed by Gove. I hate her. Small point, but does anyone remember what interest rate people we were paying on credit cards when base rates were 4 or 5%????? 14/15%......is the answer. What are we paying now when base rates are at 1/2%????? 21, 22%??? The banks have simply doubled the margin on credit cards. Most people still dont pay them off. They pay the minimum or a bit more. If banks cant make money when base rates are so low then they should be shot!!!! The banks dont pay the current level of corporation tax. They send profits off everywhere to tax shelters etc. Why is it in the governments interest for this to happen NOW??? Simple, the bigger the banks profit, the sooner the banks start paying dividends, the sooner the government can sell their share back to the market for a profit. The government want to be able to raise multi billions just before the next election to bribe us with a few tax cuts to get another 5 years!!!!! Simple economics shows us that the private sector has to be bigger than the public. If the government had not replaced the 70000 people that leave the state every year they could have made the message a lot more tolerable. The cuts are too deep too soon & the liberals know it, but will do anything to cling to what little power they have. And by the way, any state employee moaning about paying more into their pension is absolutely f'ing clueless...............I will happily pay into a final salary scheme given the opportunity!!!

I thought he was a cracking player. When Boozy Burley let him go & signed Idiakez & Jermaine Wright I knew that he was a very poor manager.

I keep looking at the predictor on the BBC & I cant get us past play offs. I think the most we can lose is 2, but as has been stated elsewhere the Charlton, Brighton & Bournemouth games will be the ultimate decider. But we will probably end up losing at Hartlepool or Colchester or somewhere like that. Those early season games & Brentford at home & Tranmere away are the ones that will cost us IMHO. That said, we have the ability to beat anyone in this league, but time will tell if we have the desire?????? Hope we do!!

There is a really simple way to stop this. Stop all religious based schools! Muslim, Catholic, Christian - all of them. That may well drive this kind of extremism even deeper into the under world, but IMHO religion has caused more death than any other man made or natural catastrophe & the sooner people actually live with a very simple moral code the better.

I think we will finish 4th & lose in the final. Teams know that if they keep us at bay & play the counter attack we can be vulnerable. The other issue in the play-offs is the refereeing lottery. I have seen some truly shocking officials & if we end up with one like the Brighton, Peterboro, Tranmere games etc we will lose out. Unfortunately...................

I think KD knows he could have done better with the first. He knows the same about goals at Tranmere & was it Brentford. I would not drop him. I would however make it clear to him that his standards have dropped & he needs to up them. It happens to every player. They have an off period. Work harder........ FWIW - If (when) we get promoted I think we will look for another keeper.

Agree with you mate. AOC kept talking to someone on the bench about where he should be & what he was doing etc. Also made me smile when they had the clip board out before Fraze came on. As if he is gonna take a blind bit of notice........ Ferguson is a real tosser. That interview was embarrassing. He made himself look like a total tool. Their right back could have easily been sent off. I think what ****ed off Saints more was not that Chaplow got booked, because in fairness it was a booking, but that the right back went through the back of Branard twice. Gave a away the pen & then caught Harding & Dixon & never got booked. He could easily got sent off. As for Fergusons comments about Chaplow. Clearly no love lost there. Chaplow proved him wrong though. He was our best player last night. I wonder if we could play a 4-5-1 formation with Morgan the deepest central midfielder & Chaplow, Hammond, AOC & Lallana breaking from midfield? The kind that Hoddle had us playing in the prem??? Jaidi would have been worse than Seabourne yesterday as he has no pace whatsoever. What it shows for me though is that if or when we do get promoted letting Jaidi & Seabourne go & try to sign the best central defender in the champ. Not sure who that is mind........................

I was raging in the seats when we started singing that!!!! 37 years of watching Saints teaches you never to wallow in our success until at least 6 months after we have had it & only then when you checked that it has actually happened without any doubt 10 times. I have left it until this morning to make my comments as it was very late when we got in last night. Interesting some of the comments about drama queens, but it feels like a loss not a draw. Ultimately in my opinion Adkins takes the rap for tonight. At 4-2 all he needed to do was switch to a regualar 4-4-2. Take Guly off as he was very poor today. Put Oxo on the right & NGueson on the left. He said in his interview he put Richardson on to shore things up......well that didnt work. Harding had to be taken off as he was going to get sent off. Same for Guly. When he put Oxo in the middle he looked totally lost. He made 1 good run all night & we got a penalty. Its as if someone has told him not to run with the ball any more. Forte added nothing, but is a bit harsh on a chap who has 10 minutes. Kelv made an outstanding save at 0-0 then was beaten at his near post for the 1st. Seabourne was worse last night than Harding was at Carlisle. CMS did him for the first. That came straight from our crap corner by the way. We should have done the cross for the 2nd, but then Seabourne & Harding fluff it. Seabourne for the pen. Looked like one from the opposite end, but have not seen the TV replay. He has to be left out now for a while just like Harding was. Martin needs to be moved above him in the pecking order. Where was Morgan? Pitch was poo. Ref was shocking. On the whole very very disapointed.............

If Lambert goes to Newc I can see us getting Best or Ameobi on loan..................
