Nowhere near as commanding as last season, but its very early days in the champ so confident he can improve.

I actually thought our passing was very poor first half. Burnley pressed hard & we struggled with little or no space. I thought they won the first half & we won the second so fair play. I thought Fonte was not great today. He got skinned by Rodriguez a couple of times & he seemed nowhere near as commanding as last year. Joos was moaning about the goal & being fouled, but the ref had none of it who was for my money pretty poor all match. You can see why we like the look of Rodriguez, he looks excellent. I thought our best player was Frazer Richardson. Adam could has scored 3. Its a good point earned & lets no forget we are only 8 games into a season of championship football & at some point we will lose. It could have been today, but the fight back was very good indeed.

Completely agree. I think the club has missed a trick here. They could do a limited run even as a loss leader.

I dont think he had a good game, but that does not make him a bad player. A couple of things should be considered. He was playing alongside a centre half who was also making his debut for Saints having not played for ages. The Forest right side is one of the strongest in the league. The Polish lad can play, he is an international. Gunter IMHO is the best right back in the champ & is also an international. Both Guly & Lallana were left with little space as Forest played with a very high line which meant they were going inside to see the ball which left him exposed. I was listening to the radio the other night coming back late from work & they were saying how Leighton Baines is one of the most improved players in the prem as Moyes had been working on his defensive capabilities. Once Fox has been with us a while & played alongside the same players I am convinced he can improve the defensive side of his game. Well lets hope so anyway.......as £1.8m is a lot for a player!

Great result, poor defensive performance. Whole of back 4 not great today. They were s h i t scared of Miller who has now joined a long list of players I love to hate. His moaning, slapping the pitch, pushing Fonte into Davis & disrespect for everyone on the pitch including his own players was embarrassing! Take the 3 points & move on.................the bus, as one whilst we are in the building!!

I did not think he played well, but that was in the context of a poor defensive performance. Thought Fonte was at fault for goal no 1 & about 4 of them for no 2. Derbyshire also had a free header & Fox got skinned a couple of times. He also lacked a bit of pace, but the guy has played just 90 minutes so to make a decision about him is a little premature. The first 3 or 4 times I saw Trotman I thought he was excellent - he now plays for Rochdale so what do I know??

Terrible for the lad. Something similar (head injury from a fall) happened to a mate of mine in Bournemouth 3 months ago & for a while they thought he might not survive. He now has some movement in his right side & is hoping for the left to respond to physio. The reason i mention it is that we should expect a very long period of recovery for him. Best if luck Dan!!!

My boss is a Celtic fan & says he cant get in a very poor Celtic side which does not bode well for me I m afraid. Still, only time will tell.

I wrote something similar on the Baldock thread, but i dont think he is any better than Barnard!!!

It must just be me as whilst I think Baldock is a decent player I genuinely dont think he is any better than Barnard..................So I am not at all worried about us not getting him. If you were to offer me just 1 more signing then it would be a centre half not a striker. As for not getting our first, second or even third choice......not at all bothered. We appear to have a genuine team spirit & that my friends can not be bought for hundreds of millions of pounds!!!!

Comment on their forum about him being the 2nd centre half which worries me. That is what Fonte is. We need a dominant ball winning defender IMHO. I dont remember him playing so to comment on his ability is a little early, but he not what i was expecting............

Always struggled with Kilgallon. I used to work with a chap whose nipper played for West Ham. He & Kilgallon went in for a tackle & the lad broke his leg which ended his football career - forever. Not saying he meant it, but he was not exactly full of concern afterwards....... I dont think he is particularly good either.

Stephen Lansdown is no numpty mate. Equity stake in Hargreaves Lansdown, a business he built with a fella who is a numpty was/is worth £650m. He was the brains behind that business & is a decent poker player. How do I know? He has been a client for 20 years!!!!

It was always gonna happen. Just like Bridge, Walcott & Bale - I thought all of them should have had a season longer with us, but the cash was calling. He is clearly an excellent player now with bags of potential. I feel his development would have been better served with us, at least initialy, but his big mouthed father got what he wanted. Good luck to him, but better luck for us. If we can get 2 or 3 quality players in as replacements that will be great........................

Excellent. Very pleased with some of the football.

I personally think that our CD as it stands will be totally inadequate for the Championship but it's just my opinion.Seems it is that of several sporting journalists as well. I have some sympathy with that. CMS did us last year with pace, but I dont think that there are lots of guys with that pace AND the scoring touch he was in last season. FWIW - Top 10 would be great with a sniff of a play-off place.

I cant find it anywhere, but does anyone know if the player numbers are staying the same for next season? My nippers want Lallana & Lambert on their shirts, but I dont want to get the current number & have it changed. Club shop wont commit & they want the strip before we go on holiday. Thanks in advance
