Just got home. First ha;f we were battered for 30 minutes. Gaston looked very light weight, Puncheon in a different time zone & Fox on another planet. Love to know how many times we maintain possession from our own throw ins. The first goal came from ours. Never a free kick for their second goal & not sure if Rooney was offside. Second half much much better. We pressed very high up the park & Utd could not cope. Davis is a decent player, but gave the ball away a couple of times in dodgy places. Rickie was very very good today. The odd wasteful pass, but a real handful. Clyne was excellent defensively, but a couple of times delivered very poor crosses. Morgan & Cork gave the ball away a few times, but worked tirelessly all night. More important to get something on Saturday.............cant wait!!

Transfer Deadline Day Who's in Who's out?
corky morris replied to Horton Heath Saint's topic in The Saints
Heard a journo say that you should ask the following question at the end of the transfer window - Does the team look stronger compared to our relegation competitors?? Have to say against Villa we do, maybe Wigan, QPR is a no especially if they get Samba & Crouch, Reading about par. If someone is to drop from the pack - West Ham look stronger, Fulham about par & Norwich about par. I think we need a winger with pace, but have been saying that since the summer. I dont expect another signing and understand that there is no point in signing anyone who does not improve what we already have. I can see some players going out on loan. Butterfield, Forte, Barnard spring to mind. -
Not got a great feeling about tonight. In the corporates (Man U Exec Club) with 2 of my nippers & dad. Lads keep asking me when they can sing Saints songs!!! Reading the article mentioned above suggests to me that we will see more of Chaplow. He presses pretty much non-stop. Not great with the ball though. Negative view - thin we might get beat 4-1 (sorry).........................
-
Very poor player...................
-
I really hope we don't go back to that 4-5-1 nonsense from the start of the season with Jay Rod out wide! If we do it tells me exactly why Adkins was sacked.
-
Absolutely!!!
-
Thank you Mr Adkins. Thank you for all you achieved, for your honesty integrity. Thank you for the way you made my boys feel so welcome when they were mascots at the Stoke away game. Good luck to you Sir & may you come back to St Mary's & prove to Mr Cortese just how good you really are.
-
Utter madness!! But i predicted that Cortese would remove him when he thought he (NA) could not take us on to the next level. He is ruthless, but today makes me a very sad & embarrassed Saints fan. Part of me wants us to get relegated. I just dont think this is the right way to run a business, football club or treat people.

Then you se Van Persie & realise he ain't (Rooney)as good as the press make him out to be!

Villa 0 v Saints 1 post match chat & MotM
corky morris replied to SOTONS EAST SIDE's topic in The Saints
I thought we played OK, but the important thing is we won. Shaw was excellent. Boric made some very good saves. Don't like jay rod going down as he did, but my god The BBC have milked it. When Shaw went down Wieman ran half the pitch to have a go at the ref & then stood over Shaw. Disgraceful behaviour & The BBC ignored it. Great pen from Rickie. Again, don't know what he has got to do to get a free kick. Lots of Saints players moaning about Benteke's elbows. I thought Puncheon was pretty poor. Why does he wait so long to cross the ball? And Rickie losing Baker at the end from the corner almost cost us the 3 points. Just chuffed with the win! -
Anyone Else Uneasy About The Money Side Of Things?
corky morris replied to Gemmel's topic in The Saints
Nervous? Yes, but its easy to forget we paid the lowest amount of money to agents & our wage bill will be a lot less than West Ham etc. They are paying £50k pw for the likes of Cole & Nolan. We MIGHT be paying something similar for Ramirez (who knows?), but with a greater likelyhood that we will get some kind of return on our money if we sell on. Without doubt we need to slim down the squad. Barnard, Hammond, Guly, Seabourne, Dickson, Butterfield, Forecast etc's salaries would probably pay for a seasoned PL player if we were to let them go. You have to look at the combination of transfer fee, agents fee, signing on fee & players salary not just how much we have paid a player. The real answer will be in May. If we go down the likes of Ramirez, Lambert, Lallana & Shaw will probably leave. You add that up & it does not take much to get to £25m. If we stay up I can see us spending another £30m!!! -
The January 2013 HCDAJFU thread...
corky morris replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Saints
I wouldnt!!! -
I remember the PR boy at Saints saying that there had been no approach for Jay Rod on twitter. I challenged him about it & he moved ever so slightly. Problem was I have a client who is on Burnley's board who confirmed there had indeed been discussions. Saints & Adkins will deny almost everything until the deal is signed. We dont like competition.

If we sign Astori or another first-choice defender...
corky morris replied to beavis17's topic in The Saints
Initially neither, but it would be Fonte for me. He has mproved no end since the start of the season, but i think Yoshida is a better defender. Its a goalkeeper & a winger with pace we need!! -
When I was a kid I always craved a pair of Gola boots, but because we were not loaded I had to put up with a pair of Winfield specials.........................................Eventually when I was about 10 my mum bought me a pair of Adidas & I thought I was the king of the world. My dad still does not know how much mum paid for those boots!!!!

Saints 1 Arsenal 1 - Post Match Reactions & MotM
corky morris replied to Lighthouse's topic in The Saints
Excellent performance. Davis & Yoshida very very good. Thought Lambert & Puncheon not at their best IMHO. Excellent point. -
Only 2 changes for me. Clyne for Joss & Ramirez for Puncheon. Go 4-4-2 like we did yesterday. Guly on the left Ramirez on the right. I think we can get at their defence. Our best form of defence is attack too! We will get a point!

Rumour - West Ham to bid for Rickie Lambert
corky morris replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Every Saints player has a price. If anyone bid 10m for Lambert I am pretty sure we would take it. Not saying that is what I would want to happen, but every price, including Messi, has a price. And i bet Stoke would take half that £10m for either Crouch or Jones. Again, not saying I want either, but we could get a short term replacement. -
Exactly. JayRods shot was on target, Guly's was not. If he had side footed it he would have controlled it better. That said Guly had a decent game.
-
I don't know what he has got to do to get a free kick! Played well today. Thought Jay Rod was good too.
-
We were great first half. As soon as Guly missed you could sense what was coming. Would have taken a point before hand, but a bit disappointed to have drawn the game. Stoke really do hoof it!!!
-
Enjoyed the game, but once Guly missed to make it 4-1 you could sense it coming. Anyone who says they don't hoof it are talking absolute rubbish!
