  1. Why are we surprised? Happens regularly now. Wanyama (Arsenal aside) has been rubbish this year. JWP poor, Tadic poor, Fonte poor, Pelle poor, basically the spine of the team. We have no pace or width, we have players who want to leave, we don't look as fit as we should, we haven't got a leader on the park. Don't know why, but I something us not right behind the scenes IMHO. Too many signs of unrest. Getting very worried!
  2. Why are we surprised?
  3. Typical Saints, not taking chances.
  4. Fonte & VVD basic mistakes. Come on Saints!!!!!
  5. Gray is the type of player we should be signing IMHO. Graham at Wolves looks good too. Pace & skill.
  6. Stay after the 18 months he has left is what he says. I am sure he said something similar in his first interview after taking the job. We will sell Wanyama. He will have 12 months left on his contract & he will double his salary. I for one, would not want bust the wage structure to keep him. I simply can't see us paying £100k pw for a long time.
  7. Why are we surprised? If we had scored a 2nd goal in the first half we would have won?
  8. Excellent!! 4-4-2.............. I have criticised Wanyama recently, but excellent tonight. Wonder if that is a coincidence?? Third goal from a corner too!! Who took it?
  9. Its a very bold statement to say MP is a better manager. Be interesting to see what RK would have done with the players MP had. Its pretty obvious to anyone with a brain that Lallana is better than Tadic. He stabilised a team that has lost its best players. Some of the replacements have been poor, but some have done a good job. I wonder who wanted to recruit Alderverweild? RK or the black box?? Certainly wasn't RK's fault he left. The point often missed is that without him last season we could have well been relegated. He walks into the dressing room & any player has to instantly respect him for what he has achieved as a player & a coach. Not many would have taken that job on. Let alone do it half as well. It looks to me at the moment that many players simply aren't performing at the level they were or can. I was at Sheffield Utd last year & Sunderland in the cup the year before. Without doubt the Sunderland performance under MP was the worst I have seen in about 5 seasons. That was without doubt MP's fault!! What RK hasn't done is bring in enough players with pace & width. Mane aside we are soooooooo slow. We cant break quickly & look very one dimensional which was also a fault of MP. Don't get me started on Osvaldo............................... Personally believe MP lacks integrity too. Soon as he started speaking English with Spurs showed him to be a shallow man IMHO. He also had his favourites!! The last point is simply about a replacement. Not at all convinced we can get anyone any better than Koeman. We have the 17th highest wage bill, lower quartile ground capacity & a youth team that has literally been raped over the last few years. Oxo, Lallana, Chambers, Shaw were proper youth players. Morgan & Clyne came from elsewhere. They all get in our team today. Lambert & Lovren probably wouldn't.................... The model/philosophy is simple. Buy players for upto £12m who play for 2-3 years then sell for £20m+. We buy from Celtic who pay £30k pw, we pay £60k pw & then they go & earn £100k+ - its pretty simple really. We are a mid table team (7th at best) with lower table assets & revenues. No doubt we are under performing at the moment, but you take Morgan from any team in the world & they are worse for it. I'm not a happy clappy type, but I cant see a better alternative...................................................
  10. Players have all the power, anyone who thinks we can keep players when other teams offer double their salary & CL potential are mad. Stones has a 3 or 4 year contract & they pay bigger salaries than us. They also are a bigger football club than us. Think we were 17th in the salary table. Finishing mid table is actually quite an achievement. Let's see if Mahrez & Vardy stay at Leicester next season. What they have dine is incredible. That said, they have also has zero injuries & more than a fair share of good luck. Our stadium, history, financial status & fan base means we are a mid table side at best. Have a feeling last season was the pinnacle & all the CL BS was exactly that, BS! Les Read milking it was a mistake IMHO. I am sure some numpties were congratulating ya on how well the club was run under Rupert Lowe. That ended well............ We lack pace, width & at the moment desire. Would rather recall Stephens, Gallagher & Isgrove..........& that is saying something!!
  11. Our wage cap precludes us from signing the top quality players. That ain't changing any time soon. We won't pay the £100k pw Stoke pay Shaqiri!!
  12. No that was Wanyama & Tadic!
  13. I love driving home 200 miles after watching that pile of ****. In some ways it was worse than Liverpool. Since the second half against Bompey we have been total rubbish. Today Pelle, Fonte, Cedric, Davis, were poor. Wanyama & Tadic were appalling. Total rubbish. It's like playing with 9! Wanyama is simply not interested. He can't pass & now he's walking round the pitch disinterested. Tadic waves his arms round moaning yet can't be arsed to help in defence. Pelle is getting fed up with no service & zero support from referees. We have no pace or width without Mane. He was our only threat all match. People moaning about Classie yet ignore just how poor Tadic has been for ages have clearly never played at any standard. I wasn't Austin's biggest fan, but he would certainly give us more of a threat than what we have. Redmond, Graham (wolves), Gray, Roofe, Townsend, would all add pace & width. I would even try & get Chambers back. Young English talent. Let's stop with all the overseas buys & either play the youngsters or invest in young British players. Don't like saying it, but we need to be careful we are not headed into a relegation battle. Simply not good enough IMHO.
  14. I would drop him!
  15. He was a lot better than Wanyama! And he didn't lose the ball fir the first goal!
  16. Nil points for us then. Friend was appalling against Liverpool last year. Utterly terrible. Clattenburg is only slightly behind Mason in our stats for fewest wins. Everton with Lallana, Norwich penalty, Stoke last year - he just does not like us. Oliver is the best of that bunch. Moss is rubbish to both sides so we will see what side the coin drops.
  17. Don't underestimate the effect Wanyama throwing his toys out had. IMHO since then he has been pretty poor. Sad thing is, Clasie was bought by Koeman & can't even get on the pitch in the last 2 games!
  18. No he hasn't lost it! Who would replace him?? No one who is better! Our problem is the lack of goals. Our shots on target ratio us rubbish. If ever there was a time to buy a striker, it's now. But who could we get? Not sure there us anything available better than we have who we could afford. Desperately need some pace too.
  19. Just in from a very windy 180 mile drive home. I thought we were poor. We are soooooooo slow. In passing, movement & Mane aside we lack any pace. We are very one dimensional & pretty average at best. Pelle, Tadic & JWP are pedestrian at the moment. It's like playing with eight. Wanyama isn't half the player he was last season. If we can get £20m for him I would take it. We couldn't hit a barn door. We need some pace, width & a real goal scorer in the summer. My fears are thus season will be mud table mediocrity at best. Hate saying this, but Bojan & Shaqiri would walk into our team. Redmond, Janauzi, Townsend would all be better than Tadic. For 5 minutes each game he looks a player then he's a passenger. Again his delivery was either sublime or ridiculous. Actually quite pleased youngest nipper is playing at Shrewsbury next Saturday so I can't go to Palace.
  20. 1. If we can get £20m for Wanyama then do it quickly! He gives the ball away far too much. 2. Pelle needs supply, without it he is redundant 3. JWP needs to be loaned out 4. Caulker isn't any better than what we have already (FWIW Stephens cant get in the Middlesbrough team) 5. We desperately need width & pace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Point 5 being the most important............................................. How many of you were at the 6-2 Spurs game 20 years ago?? Getting beat by 4 or 5 goals used to be a regular occurrence................................ What do we expect? 4th lowest wage bill, negative net spenders, lack of pace, 30000 seater stadium, selling our best players...................RK has attempted a minor miracle, fortunately he succeeded & will continue to do so.
  21. Total poo. So many players were shocking. It's all well & good having a go at Cedric & Caulker, but Pelle was rubbish. That said, I was there when Tottenham beat us 6-2 20 years ago & I will be there on Saturday. Big game against Villa. We lose & we are in deep doodoo!
  22. Why is this in the slightest bit surprising?? We buy for £5-£12m & pay £60k pw. We sell for £20-£35m & players double their salary. We tell players when they join its a 2-3 year move & then you get to go to one of the big 5 if it works out. That's the philosophy. Our blackbox is mirrored by many teams now so we rely on scouts & that. Indeed RK would have been sold on the same basis. 3 years & you get your move to a bigger club. I think FF is right though. We are at a crossroads. It will be interesting to see which was we go. BUT I don't want to see the club go into administration again!!
  23. Tadic was appalling last week, I would have dropped him. Yoshida makes a mistake every solitary game he plays. He isn't a right back (or a left back). You have to question the signing of Martina. I would send JWP out on loan. Reed deserves his chance as JWP has had many. RK has to take some responsibility for today too. BUT, what do we expect? A bit of reality would be handy for some Saints fans. Let's focus on Liverpool!!!!
  24. We bought Martina as back up. Cedric getting elbowed last week (again) doesn't help, but not all our signings will work out perfectly. Who else could we have bought then OR now? Yoshida makes mistakes. His first cost us today. What do you expect? Clyne made mistakes, everyone does. Hate losing, but you get used to it as a Saints fan. Chill out................
  25. Tadic was very poor against Stoke. Constantly misplaced passes & his crossing was very very bad. Didn't beat the first man often. His corners were worse than our under 8's. It was so easy for Butland. You put up with him defensively for his offensive work. His offensive performance on Saturday was rubbish. We don't have an alternative whose fit. Think a fit Jay Rod could play there. Personally I would go for Redmond at Norwich or Phillips at QPR in January if at all possible. Even that young Roofe lad at Oxford maybe worth a punt.
