The worse thing about this is that Redmond will be our best player next season in the Championship. Imagine that. You can't play Redmond and Tadic... they are both left sided players in my view.

We are giving Stoke confidence.

Watching the amount of goals we are scoring with defenders, I’m wondering if MP does have something to offer. Where we seem to have a glaring gap is with our midfield and forwards coaching. MP needs a top class forward/midfield coach to work alongside him. Given our weakest players are now our Centre Backs somehow MP is getting them working above their Capabilites not as Romeu suggests, below. Perhaps the answer is not to remove him now, but reinforce him with a decent attack/midfield coach and tactician? Just a thought. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Redmond's playing. At least we'll be able to concentrate on Premier League survival after this.
-
Phew.
-
To be honest - apart from the first 15 minutes I think we've played well. Lemina... awesome. Carrillo looks a threat. Stephens playing normally, crap then scores! We've had a lot of possession and passing not bad. just need to maintain the tempo and resist giving the ball straight back to the opposition and getting over confident. Need tempo, and and edge. WBA will come out fighting. COYR!

Why oh why are we not now in for Silva??????!!!!!! (sorry that's two questions)
-
I've just one question. Why are all of our good players suddenly rubbish? errrrr..... management?

MUST WIN or MUST SACK.

Sky are usually spot on. After JVDs exit, just one signing would make our Boardroom and manager look very weak ahead of the most important relegation fight in the Club's history. Lack of investment will have an effect on player morale too. It's really not looking good, not looking good at all. We needed a striker (we have bought one who scores in 1 out of every 4 games for a club record fee, but lets see what he can do), we needed a quality Centre Back to replace JVD and stabilise our leaky defence, we needed a replacement for Redmond (who is clueless) and it now looks like thats failed too. In truth, we probably needed a quality keeper too. Failing, failing badly at lunchtime... failing the manager, team and the fans. Get your finger and chequebook out Boardroom or prepare for relegation by putting a British manager in who's up for a relegation scrap, and if he fails, knows the Championship enough to get us back quickly. If Pellegrino fails to get 3 points tonight and we have this squad... its time for drastic action.

Is there anyone on here who wanted Puel out who now regrets it??
SaintRobbie replied to OldNick's topic in The Saints
I don't miss Puel, indeed I blame him for part of the current team's demise. I don't miss him at all, he was manager when the true rot set in. He has to shoulder some of the blame. He was just as poor tactically as Pellegrino but he had a far better squad. -
The problem with the team is with the quality in the team. The Les Reed gamble of selling our best has not just removed our best players but rotted the ambition and competitiveness of those who remain. It was a strategy always doomed to fail. But, to motivate players for the relegation fight you need a tough no nonsense scary bloke in charge - which is why teams head for the Hodgsons, Pulis’, Big Sams etc. Managers who can organise and motivate premadonnas for a short term purpose. Our manager appears to be a top half, long term build but shielded by enough quality to not have to worry about staying in the league - which is where we all thought Saints should be. But we are not. We are not because of gross mismanagement in the Boardroom. So what? We have a manager in unfamiliar Territory with a poor squad who is now even having to play relatively unproven 17 year olds. It’s a tough call - sack MP? Well he will be useless in the Championship- something the Pardews give you - but he might be good in a couple of years if we fluke it and stay up. As I said it’s a hard call. I want to give him a chance. But I want to survive. Yesterday however showed some players care - JWP, even Bernard. MP has addressed the goalkeeper situation, he’s had the courage to ditch the clueless Redmond (Les Reeds buy). He’s tried to change the tempo and instil some fight. But he is not the manager needed to guarantee success in a fight. For me it depends now on reinforcements and spending £75m. But we won’t... because we never have reinvested in the team after selling. MP showed he had something whilst working with nothing yesterday. My conclusion? Stick with him - if he gets his reinforcements be amazed with our Boardroom, but back him. If he doesn’t get reinforcements (& I doubt he will get enough) then sack him and take Silva or a Pardew,Lambert,Big Sam, Pulis type but do it by the end of the transfer window when we know what we have. We are going down, despite some trying harder yesterday. We are still going down. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If Pellegrino loses today (or draws) we must sack him and take Silva. Top motivator and knows the league. Plays attacking footy and would change the team and boost the fan’s support for the relegation fight. No brainer. If MP screws today up (& I think he will) he must be sacked for Silva. Good point well made. So, the question I would ask is why our team - who are supposed to be fighting for their Premier League lives - were less determined? That’s down to leadership. Boardroom failures of leadership to maintain a Premier League team of determined players and failure to appoint a manager who can lead them through this. But the main blame in this case squarely sits with MP - how you throw away a 2 goal lead at half time regardless of a cheating handball shows total lack of motivational skill, tactical knowledge and leadership. Going down, almost a certainty. Squad is so poor, so ripped apart. Not entirely MPs fault but got to admit that in a relegation fight sitting back and defending a lead with poor players never works. His tactics are wrong. His team is ripped apart by our foolish sales policy and lack of ambition. Fans have no spirit or appetite for the fight either - like the players and manager they too have failed to accept the situation we find ourselves in. We’re going down. Hopeless. Feels worse than the last time when Harry arrived. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Why haven’t we signed anyone immediately? We’ve know about VVDs departure for ages. Others are signing. We should have had the first few transfers in the bag already surely? Les Reed.... mmmmmmm Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’ve been trying to give MP a chance. Puel was right to be sacked and I believe much of the damage to the team was put in place by Puel, but without doubt the real disaster at the club has been the Les Reed strategy of sell and lose our better managers. It was always going to lead to relegation. But back to MP. It was clear tonight that the little talent of players that are left are not playing for him and failed to raise their game. The half time team talk about it being a tough night but get out there and battle hard to secure a second goal and victory clearly didn’t happen for this vital 6 pointer. I’ve no idea who to replace him with, but I’m afraid with him we’re going down. Sack him. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

One point off relegation entering this game, are we allowed to panic now? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Can’t complain with the managers team selection - Forster, Redmond and Lemina drooped - all have been awful lately. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Saints to use VVD money to bring Theo Walcott back (social media)
SaintRobbie replied to Bad Wolf's topic in The Saints
We will get Theo as a sop to the fans. He’s available, he’s one of our own, he’s not at all bad... but he’s not being selected at Arsenal for a reason. It’s not just that he is injury prone. But - I’d welcome him home for a fee less than £10m. We need a striker - and let’s face it, he’s still x4 times as good as Redmond. Hope he comes but he can’t be seen as the solution. I’d buy a replacement for Les Reed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
