Lowe is only the start point for badly needed change. The real probalem lies with shareholders and the organisational system running (killing) the club, the one Lowe chairs. I have never heard Lowe say he wouldnt stand in the way of a takeover (thats what is more worrying) and as Steve Grant commented a while ago... we still have not heard the reasons why the SISU deal was rejected by the senior shareholders... the one that gave Coventry hope and arguably the best manager available at that moment.

Rumours are we might see Baird as part-ex for Surman with Fulham. A morale move by Lowe to pacify the masses....? Certainly I would find it difficult to believe Jan would make that choice. Still, would like to see Bairdy back. He's a capable CB at CCC level, despite being primarily a RB.

Well said but waste of time as until those who divide the Club pack up and go it will continue. This Club will only be united when we have someone good enough at the top to unite it.... and that's not the current Clowns. Remove Lowe and at least we may see a return of some optimism. Remove the plc and shareholders and we may see even more. Get in a decent manager and a new owner even more. Get in someone with some money for players even more still. I prefer full stadiums. I prefer atmosphere. I prefer unity. I prefer Saints being a football club not an investment for failed retirement home owners and aspiring Jersey businessmen with nothing more to give.

True. But you know what? I dont think the fans are bickering to the same extent as we see on this messageboard. I think almost everyone associates Lowe with failure and still does given the current evidence. I think the fans are as united as they have been for sometime. What's more, now that the media have taken up reflecting this public opinion we can expect a crusade - and the national media will no doubt follow. Times up for Lowe IMHO. Time for optimism. -
If ManUre think they're coming for an easy win and pack their team full of youngsters to rest the stars then most realistic score for me is 1-1. But Fergie is now a wise old beast when it comes to Saints having been stung in the past. He also knows the FA Cup has to be a competition he aims to win as the League is not looking likely this year. ...So I think he will bring more stars than we deserve to be beaten with.

Agreed Mrs Wilde is actually a lovely lady and I find that all a bit unnecessary and offensive too.

I think they have more experience in their team sheets than we give them credit for...but happy to be corrected.

Perhaps you're right Steve, or perhaps he needs to make himself a little clearer. But I still read it that he is content to support Lowe for now... i.e. we should shut up and get on with Lowe's leadership... sorry old friend but that's suicide. I could tolerate a little more Lowe/Wilde if they declared the club was for sale and they pledged to search for a buyer, them demonstrated clear evidence that it wasnt another bluff old smoke screen... but they arent likely to are they? The Echo have the best summary thus far. -
Read that Nick Illingworth. That's spot on. Your fanzine one is a little too on the fence old chap. Beware the media writing to reflect public opinion and improve sales, but for me a very good summary. I predict more from the Echo... then the National Press will pick up on further destroying Lowe. We've been there before. And Lowe will take us to media laughing stock again.

A better article from Illingworth than normal. But still far too supportive of Lowe for my liking. On the one hand he corals the fans by saying we need to get rid of the lot of them (board) - agreed 100% - then in the next breadth he asks for Lowe to have some time... mmmmmm .... being objective Nick or still enjoying being coverted by the plc board? I lost my faith in Nick a while ago. Says one thing to win over the fans - but became too close to the plc masters to be fully trusted for me a long time ago. I'd need to read something less on the fence before I can offer him any support. Read this Nick - that is less on the fence, demonstrates some courage and is a closer summary of the truth: http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/4010892.The_biggest_month_of_all_for_Saints/ Lowe and Wilde need to sell up and go asp. -
Would prefer him to JP but to be honest Davies prefers robust bigbloke-CCC bully style experienced players. Unless you were to buy him a whole team to replace all our kids, Kelvin Davies, Svensson - in fact just about everyone less Perry - I cant see that Davies would have had much impact here. Forest have far more potential bully boys. He'll keep them up.
-
The media generally reflects public opinion. It rarely shapes it. Afterall it has to sell papers and people buy what they want to read. I anticipate the Echo will really go for Lowe in the forthcoming months unless he steps down soon.

(Especially the more sensible Mrs Lowe.)

He saved us once. That is pretty good and deserves a house point. You're right on the rest though. There is a good warning here.

Is 100,000 alot in the scheme of things? I think its probably peanuts isnt it?
-
I am pretty sure we played better than we have been - afterall the fact the fans stayed loyal to the team is evidence enough in the current climate. We still didnt score very many though and I think we all agree we need finishers. But Director of Football Lowe has them on loan. Also - were Reading also not failing to play to their potential?? Oh... what to do?!
-
Has to be Keegan really due to the impact it had - no one believed Lawrie had pulled it off! But, recently I thought Henri Camara had alot of - almost world class - potential.
-
It was irrelevant, though it helps - when your chairman is actually part of the football team set up, being pally does rather help. Lowe is part of the footballing team as well as plc chairman remember... he IS to all intents and purposes Director of Football. Anyway. That could change if Hoddle was appointed. I grant you. The one we love to hate - Redkrapp - said he left Saints as it was a Club that no one talked to anyone, unlike Pompey which was a friendly environment to work in - an all round team. Lowe called Harry, 'Redknapp'. He has never been a team player was our Rupert. He has never run a sporting club as it should be - a content team working as a team from top to bottom - united. Until that day, we shall continue to fall. But whether Lowe is good and deserves his 95% vote from shareholders for his stirling efforts behind the scenes - we must always remember that those who divide bring failure. Harmony top to bottom produces better results. No Lowe, No Hoddle and you have a chance at unity. No plc and a boardroom working to one (ambitious) man and you have even more.

True enough. Though we await the nippa's wage bill in the Feb accounts to see whether this decision to lose such a vital goalscorer was worth it to finance 3-whatever League 2 standard players.
-
Agree completely. Interestingly though, I dont think Lowe has been in this position before and not sacked the manager. He is now in uncharted Lowe territory, despite the fact that - for once - just about everyone else realises JP is out of his comfort zone and failing. Interesting.
