Bit gutted to be honest. What a shame. RIP.

the things Rupert Lowe has said over the years

Its either Harry for his lack of professionalism and relegation or Hoddle for his lack of loyalty. But, its Branfoot. The only other man at Southampton FC to be hated just slightly more than Mr Rupert Lowe.

David McGoldrick - one of the top 50 rising stars?
SaintRobbie replied to SaintDonkey's topic in The Saints
Except Forest have been together for longer as a team (2 years) and actually their 'kids' are roughly 21 whereas ours are 19 and we had a couple, a couple, of much older other players. Stats and lies and all that aside, I think Forest are not quite in the same boat as us with 2-3 older players and 9 kids. ... but then even if they were younger (and they're not) they do have a manager. A key difference. -
Interesting debate - but whether we had or hadnt gone there we'd STILL be heading for League 2 under Lowe.
-
Get him! He'll be one of our best players in League 1.

Hang on - just reread it... its top 50 in the world not in UK! No - sorry he's not even a top 500 in the world player on current evidence. Still has potential though. If he's that good lets sell him and get Rasiak back - FAST -
How to sell The Saints to the Dragons
SaintRobbie replied to Secret Site Agent's topic in The Saints
Good thread this really. We need to sell the Club, how about some other ideas on how we do it. For me it's as MLT said on SSN recently. Premiership club in facilities and intrastructure plus huge fan base and plenty of local spin off business opportunities. A club available for a rock bottom price. Add to that family friendly (well it will be again after Lowe), potential to delist it for one owner and whoever takes over becomes an instant hero. We can sell this club. -

All round ability? Must be his pace and shooting ability .... not. I think he has potential to be fair. Alot. Whether he has been allowed to demonstrate it this season or indeed enhance it by working alongside experienced strikers remains doubtful due to the policies of club and coach. I think he'll be a decent player if put in a more traditional set up. He'll fade otherwise. -
You make your own luck. The only luck we can hope for is that 3 teams go into freefall IMHO.

Duncan - perhaps you should also sift through the old 'Ask Rupert's'... bet you'd find some classics there. What about the press conference too where he made Harry sit next to him and told us how good things were between HR, Lowe and SCW. Harry sat like a kipper - extremely uncomfortable being paraded. That would expose some interesting quotes. -
He may yet surprise us in the next few weeks and hand over to someone else and remove Lowe. He has an opportunity to right a wrong. He still has the opportunity to give us our club back. Let's give him a chance. Do it Mike - put in Crouch if necessary but please please remove Lowe and this plc nonsense forever.

In case we survive in the CCC - JP situation
SaintRobbie replied to Belgiansaint's topic in The Saints
If we stay up under JP's far from dynamic leadership I'll eat my own earwax. The only way we'll survive under the present set up and regime will be if 3 more teams simply implode. -

I cant think of where we could find it - but I remember it. Perhaps someone can help. -
We lost the game and won the match. Great to see a more sensible line up. Great to see Total Football has seemingly gone out of the window. Chuffed to see a win, but cant help but think we were lucky. We're still going down IMHO, but there is at least a glimmer of hope.

'We dont deal with smaller Clubs' Over the possibility of getting Malbranque from Fulham and ultimately keeping WGS as I recall. -
I think there's alot of truth in that statement. Although, paying dividends to shareholders and expenses to non-Saints fan boardmembers etc etc is a drain on resources that could be put into a club. It has also proved near impossible to remove Lowe. Did it once - JUST after a long battle and unless he's preparing to run away (which may be the case now) he'll hang on again. I agree though - this plc has been a failure due to personalities. It became a business as it was run by businessmen and forgot it was a football club almost the moment it was formed. Sheffield Utd just delisted, no doubt to provide more funds for players. But it sounds as if their own plc was quite amicable - the shareholders had the club in mind before business. So, I suppose it can work - but even where it has it seems to have served its purpose. I'd love one owner who had the Club at heart, a CEO to run it and a MANAGER. All this European set up is totally daft in a CCC club.
