Must sign Toby and Bertrand up..................
SaintRobbie replied to washsaint's topic in The Saints
I think we will sign them both. But the interesting question will be whether more money is made available to Koeman to reinforce in January. Jordie Clasie and another striker would do for me! We have the money, never been a better time to invest it. -
New Koeman Chant- to be given trial run at Hull
SaintRobbie replied to MickeyAggy's topic in The Saints
Big Vic chant. To the Vanarama advert (or SingHosanah!) Vic Wanyama, Vic Wanyama, Vic Wanyama he's the Kenyan King. Vic Wanyama, Vic Wanyama...Vic Wanyama he's the king! -
Lets hope he puts us in a cup final like Ormerod did.

They never really wanted to play for Saints after being transferred to us.
SaintRobbie replied to 9-3's topic in The Saints
I agree - bit harsh on Redknapp Jr. -
We still have enough cash to not have to sell anyone. But I think Maybe Cork would be sacrificed for Clasie. Koeman knows what he wants.

Long? Clever player. Very clever player. No guaranteed end product but a team player.

Super first half. Bring on Sheffield Utd I thought we done good and had a gear left in the 2nd half. Tough fixture away. Stoke aren't bad, but hey Crouchy Crouchy... Used to be a Skate but he's ok now!
-
Good stuff. Wasn't Sir Clive Woodward into all that visualisation stuff too? Classie would be a super addition. I hope this is right.

Pelle won't play every game hypo. I know Jay rod is improving, but I can't see him being back to his best before February at best. Also, nothing wrong with competition. I like Austin as an option as he's a near perfect stand in for Pelle; big, strong and is a handful for defenders. Like for like if Pelle is injured. Means Koeman doesn't have to change his systems too much. Mayuka doesn't play for a reason. He's simply not proven himself in this League and it would be a fair assumption that he is not better than Pelle in training or he'd start. But, I see your point, why buy two? For me our lack of strikers is our weakness. I do not see Long as a striker, he's a winger now. So, we could do with a small Kevin Phillipsesque option (Mayuka isn't good enough for this role so he should be replaced and moved on). Is that option Kane? I don't know. Austin gives us a second target man up front, a double handful with Pelle in a 4-4-2 or an instant replacement for Pelle if injured. Jay Rod is interesting. It is difficult to see how he fits into Koemans formation with Pelle playing, apart from perhaps filling the wing role he was doing for England. Is he an out and out target man like Lambert was or Pelle is? I'm not sure. What I am sure of is he adds a lot, and Koeman will work out how best to use him. So what? For me, sell Mayuka and replace him with a young Kevin Phillips. Is that Kane? Not sure. Keep Jay Rod. He's competition for Mane and Long. Go for someone like Austin to compete with Pelle. So sell one, buy two. We have the money in January to do it.

Pochettino asks Levy to sign Jay Rodriguez
SaintRobbie replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Come on Tony. You need to tell us what you've heard about Spurs Even if it turns out to be rubbish, it is good for morale! -

I find the Townsend thing interesting. Do we really want him? There appears to be much better out there for the money. -

My thoughts exactly Steve, although I sense Levy will have to stick with Pottychino for the season at least. What's more I sense that Pottychino would be saying to Levy that he agreed to come if he could bring Schneiderlin and Jay Rod with him, and he hasn't been given either, yet. Does that mean Levy has to pay more to back his managerial selection? Either way, Saints are in a very strong position. -
You know what? We could take Austin and Kane. I would certainly be interested in offloading Mayuka and Jay for those two replacements.
-
Looks to me as if our Boardroom are learning lessons. Jay Rod story to Spuds for £15m countered by a similar threat to take away Spurs' potential star striker of the future. But what's more, I firmly believe we need a young replacement for Mayuka. Even if swap deals took place we'd be £5m up and have offloaded a great striker in his mid 20s and potential of a reoccurring injury and replaced him with an in form youngster with potential. But I sense, if we took Harry Kane in Jan it will be to offload Mayuka. We can afford Kane and keep Jay Rod. We are in a strong position. Clever bit of media fencing with Spurs? Our Boardroom look like they may be taking control and are not prepared to be dictated to, we are not afraid of Spurs and Pottychino. It looks like the Boardroom are learning and are emerging as more confident and so they should... We are odds on for Champions League football next season, not Spurs.

Saints duo win awards - Koeman MOTM - Pellè POTM
SaintRobbie replied to angelman's topic in The Saints
Once upon a time Manager of the month meant a terrible month ahead. A bad omen. Now? Saints are so unpredictably positive it might mean we're about to win the league. Great news ..... And Pelle and Tin Tin deserve it!! -
Lol at Lallana. Even the international officials hate him!
-
Well said Duncan.
-
Yep. Wish he'd just shut up. Every time the arrogant fool speaks makes my blood boil. He would be wise to just keep quiet and try and improve his game, he's pretty mediocre at the moment.

Martin Samuel p*sses in our pool again.....
SaintRobbie replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
It's a warning, especially the bit about the Boardroom thinking they now know everything about football and the warning they may get over confident. Our Boardroom have got lucky... They got Koeman. Our success is down to Koeman, I can't see us being in 2nd place and beating Arsenal with anyone else. But, the piece is still fundamentally negative and Martin Samuel does look foolish. -
We have an early winner!!!!!

I hope Glen Hoddle receives just as much of a welcome. I'm afraid his desertion to spurs was just as bad potty chinos.
