  1. I feel sorry for Wotte. He conducted himself admirably during this very difficult period, when it would have been very easy to walk away; he even turned down a job offer. He should be commended for his efforts last season, and for holding the fort during the summer.
  2. Is this him? [Apologies if hotlink doesn't work; couldn't be arsed hosting it at this hour of the night]
  3. Ironically, Nick Leeson is now a very accomplished football administrator. (CEO of Galway United).

    David O'Leary

    No.
  5. How could anyone feel optimistic about a shower who, after months of administration and brinksmanship, show up at the very death, relying on the collapse of at least three other consortia to poach an opportunistic deal of their own? Do they sound like a sensible group of businessmen with the club's best long-term interests at heart?
  6. Post of the Week. Points 1 and 2 aren't made nearly enough on here.
  7. did "no bids" refer to bids for players?
  8. Correct
  9. Just bought two tickets on the halfway, even though (barring a dramatic/drunken change of heart) I won't be in the same country.
  10. The rules were followed. If you disagree, you haven't read the rules. We were bang to rights, legally and morally. An appeal would be an utter waste of money.
  11. But they're only obliged to give visiting teams a certain proportion of the stadium's total capacity (10% capped at 3,000?) and since they'll certainly be looking to sell out the rest of the ground, there's no prospect that we'll be given any more than the minimum.
  12. Please, please, please stop bringing this example up. There was no such thing as a points deduction until several months after this occurred. It is not a relevant precedent.
  13. Grow up, There's scarcely a bigger club in the Football League that Southampton.
  14. No. What about the League's discretion to impose a penalty where a club's debts are reduced in insolvency proceedings? (clause 15(b)(whatever it was) We'll be absolutely bang to rights on that front and it'll be scandalous if the League doesn't act accordingly.
  15. Do you (or anyone else) have the text of this please?
  16. If he has to serve a touchline ban, who the hell will be in charge?
  17. Don't be ridiculous. Gasmi's come one at least twice.
  18. I find this extraordinary. Are you sure that it was not in settlement of the balance of the cost of building the stadium? i.e., £10m-12m had already been paid at the point when they went into administration. At any rate, everyone acknowledged that Leicester had flagrantly abused the system, and the rules we currently have were brought in as a direct result of their tomfoolery. Won't this generally amount to the same thing?
  19. he can't play for club other than oldham athletic until his loan nominally ends at the end of the season. end of thread.
  20. He's looked out of his depth in the Premier League, but his ball skills are first rate and he could do some real damage at Championship level. I was dismayed to see Chris Gunter sign for Forest too.

    And Hockaday?
  22. This.
  23. He certainly sounded sincere. It may have been some Southerners' Solidarity, or he may have been genuinely gutted to see a brave fightback unrewarded. At one point he compared it to what happened to his Leicester team last year.
