Your favourite Saints players that weren't popular?
Burnsie replied to Bad Wolf's topic in The Saints
Paul Telfer all day long - great basic technique, worked hard for the team, allowed others to play. Paul Williams had a ggreat few months when he first arrived, and more recently I was always impressed by Chaplow -
Kevin Davies was signed from Chesterfield the first time around.
-
A terrific player, whose contribution was overlooked somewhat because Schneiderlin was that bit more showy .... if Wanyama signs, does he play alongside Cork rather than MS? That would seem a better fit to me.
-
I was the guy who did the rest. I was thirteen at the time - got to meet Mick McCarthy, was interviewed by Sky News and on the most popular show on Irish radio. Still get asked about it now and again....

Of all the coaches I know in all the world, Marcelo Bielsa is by far the least likely to take a "Director of Football" type position, anywhere. He's the ultimate tracksuit manager, spends hours at the training ground, hours more watching DVDs.

1. Scheiderlin 2. Cork 3. Sir Rickie

Reading were hopeless - very poor in possession and never looked remotely like scoring apart from set pieces and the odd time Saints committed a lot of players forward and we almost got stung on the break. Fonte and Yoshi didn't have much to do , never mind Superkelv. Cork was excellent and my MOTM. Both fullbacks very good too - Clyne caught the eye in particular. He's a fine player. I actually thought it was one of Lambert's poorer games For all his hard work, Rodriguez does not look like a Premier League striker to me - a bit clumsy, and just half a step off the pace in the penalty area, e.g. he doesn't get a shot away in time. Wouldn't mind getting a look at Mayuka in a central role (although ideally Gastón will play just behind Lambert, hoping Lallana's injury isn't serious.

Didn't Tony Cottee score in all four divisions in a single season about fifteen years ago?

No surprises given the step up in class required for the Premier League. Hadn't given it much thought until now, but I do feel a new first choice keeper should be a priority this summer. I've often thought that keepers offer the best value for money because a very good one is worth as many points as a top striker, but at a fraction of the cost. Michel Vorm for Swansea a good example. Davis will always be a club hero for his role in the promotions, but to be competitive in the PL I fear we'll need someone with more all-round quality.

Ryan Smith has to be a stable in any such line-up. Also saw Lee bloody Molyneux getting sent off on his debut. Belmadi was a class act - my favourite Burley era player

Have bought a flight from Dublin early on the Saturday morning, what a schoolboy error to fail to make sure of a ticket in time. (to be honest I was so low after Friday night that I put all matters saints related to the back of my mind) Needless to say I would happily pay face value for any ticket in addition to a substantial gratuity in favour of the charity of vendor's choice

Deal hasn't been don yet but that's the figure doing the rounds. Long is a class act - the complete striker who has excelled at international level in recent months. Will be at least as good as Kevin Doyle, and arguably has more to his game.

Smashing display. A Leeds mate has texted me to say we were well worth the win. Lallana was my man of the match, but Hammond very impressive too - he and Cork completely dominated the central area. Back four was comfortable, although in truth Leeds were very poor in the attacking third. Fonte a class act as usual, and I was impressed by Martin, and also by Frazer Richardson, who looked rock solid.

If this news isn't Oliver Bierhoff related I will be sorely disappointed

Havent read any of he foregoing so apologies if these point have been done to death, but a few points from today's match: - this was a lucky win - we got mullered in the opening period; the goal was against the run of play. Didn't really see the red card incident but it looked soft. Even against ten men colchester had plenty of the play and some good chances. - chaplow is the star of this team, he's a class apart. My mate who came to the game (a neutral) said he couldn't believe he was playing in league one - lambert still looks out of sorts - barnard puts in a terrific shift up front , I think we'd really miss that graft if he were left out. Reminds me a lot of Kevin Doyle. - jaidi should, to the greatest extent possible, leave kicking the ball to others - not sure Nguessan has anything to offer
