  1. It's Saturday night. Saints have been caned and Duckie has clearly had one too many sherbets at the ale House. He is clearly arguing nonsense for the sake of it. I wouldn't take him too seriously. If he hasn't and he is serious in his ramblings can he please tell us the last time that the MPs of a party have elected a different party leader to the leader of their party as he suggests. Many thanks.
  2. What happened last season? I didn't go but from memory we drew 0 0 and had a very strong penalty claim. We more than held our own. According to Football Focus a few minutes ago we "rode our luck" and held on. Was that the case. I confidentialy predict the same result this season. 😉😁😁😁😁
  3. On a per capita basis that is true but the current labour shortage is going to be a major obstacle to Liz's dream of "growth, growth, growth". I can see a Suella u turn on the horizon.
  4. Braverman's stance on immigration doesn't help the emphasis on growth. Conflict between her and Truss on this issue is inevitable.
  5. You know that we have an extremist government when Nadine Dorris accuses it of "lurching to the right". 😁😁😁

Alex doesn't follow the biased mainstream media to learn what is going on. He has his own impeccable sources on Twitter.

and how would you have ended it?
  8. I agree with you - but don't forget that bods earning over £100k start to lose their personal allowance for every £ that they earn. Penal for anyone earning between £100k and £125k.
  9. Comparing international tax rates is very difficult. Every country has its own reliefs and allowances which make a like for like meaningful comparison almost impossible. In addition to Ducky's call for a reduced number of income tax rates there needs to be a simplification of reliefs and allowances. eg. As Weston points out the marginal rate of income tax for people earning between £100k and £125k is over 60%. Madness! eg. Look at pension tax relief and the rules around it if you have difficulty sleeping at night. We are not unique in our reliefs and allowances. One of the weirdest that I heard about came from Denmark where you could get tax relief if you claimed that your garden is really a farm or smallholding!! It is not just our income tax that is overly complicated. Take a look if you dare at our Inheritance Tax reliefs. Mad as a box of frogs!! Capital Gains Tax is also an area where in the UK we get off lightly compared with other countries. I agree with Moonraker - overall we are not a highly taxed country when compared with other countries.
  10. He may have got his peerage for free.... but he has donated over £300k to the Tories in the past. You don't honestly think that he would have received a peerage without some form of payment do you?
  11. What happens to public services when nurses, healthcare professionals, binmen etc (ie the people who 2 years ago were labelled as public heroes) all bugger off to the "higher paid jobs"?
  12. Typical Ducky bollocks. The only reason why what you consider to be conservative policies are not adopted is because , despite the urgings of the Mail and Express, the people of this country don't want them. For all his failings Johnson recognised this but Truss is too ideologically blind to recognise it. Any idea of where the £15 billion plus of public spending cuts are going to be found?
  13. MP for Rossendale and Darwen you have to hope that Berry will not be returned when the red wall gets rebuilt. Then he can find himself a new job.
  14. Condescension and evasion were the hallmarks of that interview. Watch her eyelids when she talks. When she is under pressure // telling lies she doesn't stop blinking. Better than a lie detector.

This time last year this guy was predicting that the US economy was about to collapse just like Venuzuela's. It didn't happen. I feel sorry for anyone who thinks this nonsense is worth amplifying.
  16. How can you get growth in an economy where the labour market is so tight that job vacancies outnumber the number of people unemployed? By letting more people into the country and increasing the size of the labour market. Are we going to see restrictions on freedom of movement lifted and many more visas issued to foreign workers in order to increase the size of the labour market? It's going to be interesting to see who in the Cabinet wins the argument. The "growth idealogues" who are willing to bet the strength of the pound on their growth idealology or the hard Brexiteers who believe in unicorns and are against freedom of movement.
  17. If one thing is clear from the political events of the last few years it is that party members should never be allowed to elect party leaders. Corbyn was a disaster for Labour. Truss looks like being the same for the Conservatives. Representative democracy whereby the elected representatives of a party choose the leadership works so much better.
  18. If she takes back rate decisions from the BoE the markets will lose all confidence in the UK economy and the pound will dip below the dollar.
  19. It's all right. There will be a load of workers on the market soon when Deutsche Bank goes bust. Mind you they will be needed everywhere when the main benefit of Brexit ( the trade deal with America) is signed. These predictions must be true because that great brainbox Guided Missile told us.

So which one is Manji? Batman is clearly D but I don't know enough about Manji to classify him.
  21. That's birds for you.
  22. They will all be pinkoes to Duckie. 😁😁😁
  23. The market's are showing what the financial world thinks of Kwasi's cunning plan.
