You are right that the football has been mostly crap but you cannot beat this World Cup for drama and unpredictability. The Saudis beating Argentina. The Japanese comeback against Germany. Morocco now on track to beat the Belgians - who in turn were very lucky to beat Canada. The bookies must be loving these results.... And I am enjoying watching them.

You can't beat Barbados. If you are loaded and want wall to wall luxury, English style cream teas and monogrammed towels then the west coast is for you. Some of the hotels there start at 3 grand plus a night in the high season. If you want good beaches, crystal clear seas, beer, fine food and rum almost as cheap as milk then try the rest of the island. Really friendly,helpful people who enjoy a laugh. Surprisingly English in so many ways (Tesco or Waitrose food in restaurants, English football in bars etc) the Bajan way of life is probably not for control freaks. If though you can accept the occasional slowness in restaurants and realise that a Bajan 10 minutes is more like an hour you will love it.
