  1. Over to you Guided Missile, Duckie and others for a response. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/jan/22/three-years-after-brexit-where-is-the-new-golden-age-that-they-promised-us?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other
  2. I don't disagree with a lot of this but I would like to point out that the 4 years between 2005 and 2009 were some of the worst times that I had following Saints. Have you forgotten the Redkrapp, Burley, Portvleit, Wotte years?? It wasn't all like Adkins made it.
  3. Many teams at this stage of the season have little to play for. They are out of the cups and not in Europe. Barring a freak change of form, they are not going to be challenging for the title and nor are they going to be in a relegation battle. Saints have often been in this position. I would suggest this is what fans of clubs like Villa and Palace have to look forward to. We on the other hand are in the midst of a memorable season - very possibly memorable for all the wrong reasons. A relegation battle beckons from now to the end of May. This may end well or it may not. On the other hand we are in a Caraboa cup semi final which could see a day out at Wembley and possibly even silverware. We also have a winnable game in the FA cup which would lead to a place in the last 16 and the way that the draw is cutting up this could be a year when a "smaller club" wins at Wembley. What would you prefer for the rest of the season? A few months like Palace and Villa fans will enjoy or a few months like we are going to have??
  4. Let's see. I cannot see the Tories winning at the next election if they come up with tax cuts but fail to solve the current NHS issues.
  5. What a lovely individual. No wonder that GM quotes him. https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2022/02/09/who-is-peter-thiel/#ZFPVQRSZVJAETHLAQTUMUB7PS4-1 He (Thiel - not GM) in recent years married his husband. Not a problem for me but I wonder how well that goes down with his Trump supporting buddies.
  6. Pathetic. Do you have to have shit for brains to spout this sort of rubbish??
  7. The good news is that, according to the Daily Telegraph there is still scope for tax cuts before the next election. Falling energy prices gives a little headroom for tax cuts. Who needs ambulances turning up when required if there is a chance of a tax cut?? According to the Guardian, Jeremy Hunt is resisting tax cuts in the spring Budget. He is saving those for the Budget nearer the election. Why pay staff more and fill some of the 130,000 NHS vacancies when you can spend that money on reduce the rate of Corporation Tax?? No wonder the Government can't resolve the NHS pay issues. If they did, there would be less money for tax cuts. Does the public want better public services or a penny off the income tax ?? I suppose the next General Election will decide that.
  8. A better name than Misselbrook - an arrogant, bullying person.
  9. Just in case anyone has forgotten how this man had no moral compass and under him this country was becoming a banana republic: https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/jan/15/nadhim-zahawi-to-pay-millions-in-tax-after-dispute-over-family-finances Who do you make Chancellor of the Exchequer? How about a man in dispute with the Treasury over a several million pounds tax bill?
  10. Typical Duckie. You can tell it's Saturday night. 😁 (Mind you, I agree with a lot of what he is saying).
  11. Sorry to hear that. I suppose it's what happens when a populist cult grabs the reins of government.
  12. The Radio 5'Live commentator was not so good. Amidst lots of patronising comments about Saints just before kick off he informed the world that all the City fans were occupying the Chapel end.
  13. Me too. I let him off too lightly when he joined, gave him the benefit of the doubt and he abused that trust by playing crap against Lincoln and Brighton. After Fulham and most definitely after Forest I had had enough of him. I wanted him out of the club. This time last week I was pressing F5 all the time in the hope that he had been sacked. Clearly the loss of my support made him reconsider, he pulled his finger out and last night we outplayed the champions. It is clear that my criticism of him was responsible for the upturn in form. You can thank me later.

    XG

I know that there is a lot of scepticism about XG on this forum but tonight must take the biscuit. Match Stats Southampton 2 goals / 4 shots on target. City 0 goals / 0 shits on target. XG Saints 0.69 City 1.0 Do City get 1 XG automatically because they come onto the pitch ???
  15. Bednarek played the full game and with him in the defence (he is after all now at a bigger club appropriate to his ability) it is amazing that a League 2 team could score twice.

    Russia

Apparently she is the junior Environment Secretary and, ahem, a "friend " of Putin's.
  17. Hold on for 90 mins and then win the shoot out. Simples.
  18. So, so true. A vegan that I know (wouldn't call him a friend - he's a complete Pompey cunt) will not eat honey. It is an animal product. Instead he puts Biscoff on his toast - a manufactured, full of sugar product clearly manufactured for Pompey cunts. He reckons that he is a vegan for health reasons. 😁
  19. In his interview last night Jones referred to some players " coming back". I guess he is referring to Bednarek (OMG -NO!!!) and Tella. If he likes I will drive up to Burnley today and bring Tella back. Anybody to show a spark of pace who knows where the goal is.
  20. Another reason why this thread is ridiculous.
  21. You had better let the superstar replacement manager who is going to turn our team of dross into world beaters that he can't expect to receive a decent whack. Also let him know that he will be sacked after 3 games if a mong forum doesn't like him.
  22. FTSE 100 performed well in 2022 and major international companies like BP, Shell and BAE benefitted from the shot pound. However the AIM market which consists mostly of small British companies was the world's WORST performing major stock market index. The weak pound and Brexit have contributed to a calamitous performance amongst smaller British companies...as was predicted by so many maligned experts during the Brexit debate. Never mind GM. It's not unusual for you to post bollocks which ends up disproving what you were trying to prove
  23. So sack the manager because they lost a match???
  24. So in other words you think that the fans should pick the manager ??
  25. What a wonderful thread this is. I reckon that we should have our own Manager of the Month competition. Get the fans to pick the manager each month and then sack them if they don't get this fantastic squad of players to win each match. The compo that we would be paying out would mean that we would have no transfer kitty to improve the squad but I am sure that there would be no end of potential managers queuing up.
