  1. The ground did look on the empty side last night but I was still slightly surprised to see that last night's attendance was only 16.4k. The weather was foul ,it was the highest attendance in Leagues 1 & 2 & Wycombe did not bring many but blimey - even Pimpey got more!!! We are used to more. 2 matches on the south coast on the same night. I wonder if there are some people who watch both Saints and Pimpey and last night chose to watch the (supposedly) higher standard game at Pimpey rather than come to SMS.
  2. Tell me about it!!! :-) :-)
  3. I remember it well!! What a sad day. Norwich and us!! we seem to be locked in some deathly embrace - when we get relegated, so do they!!
  4. Nah. It was Norwich - not Palace who went down with us in 1974. We always get relegated with Norwich!!!
  5. It may only have 1 covered stand but the Don Valley Stadium has a capacity of 25K and is at least a major sporting stadium . Luton's previous away match was at Grays Atghletic in front of 1,600 people in a stadium which can hold 4,000 at a pinch. Their next game is at Chester in a stadium with a capacity of 5,000. Maybe the Don Valley is not so bad!! I wonder what they will make of SMS if they come here on 2 nd January.
  6. On ITV they also said that a trip to Rotherham was "hardly a glamour tie for Luton supporters." Probably not if you are a plastic Premiership fan who also works for ITV. But if you are a supporter of a team in the Conference, a trip to a Football League ground in the second round of the Cup is not to be sneezed at!!! The glib cliches of some of these so called journos !!!
  7. Can you tell us more about this rumour FF now that Hart has gone???
  8. Steve Basham
  9. If he talks like he writes he is probably still there rambling on and on and on and on and on ...........
  10. Thats brilliant. Thanks.
  11. Is there any parking close to the stadium but not at the stadium itself??
  12. Good old Ricardo. I always liked him!!!
  13. but is he the best ever English centre forward ?????? PMSL
  14. I agree. The ground was buzzing for 5 minutes afterwards. A pity we didn't capitalise on it. We came close but should have got the third immediately afterwards.
  15. It was such a great goal.
  16. I've heard that both Lawrie and Leon also peddle in coconut flavoured drinks. Shall I tell the police???
  17. He did seem to give Norwich a free kick every time that they appealed for one. Some of them were just laughable. Match stats show we conceded 15 free kicks - they gave away 9. I may be ever so slightly biased but I don't think that we were that much dirtier than them. .
  18. Don't do yourself down mate. Post 3455 was a classic. Definitely not lengthy nor boring.
  19. Couldn't agree more. The comparison with Burley is amazing.
  20. 19 C, I would suggest that for Christmas you ask your wife to buy you a copy of Duncan Holley's rather excellent book on the history of the Saints. I know that you like to sneer at it (Duncan had a row with Rupert so therefore Duncan is a bad boy in your eyes) but if you were to read it and learn a bit about the club that you purport to support, your opinions may be regarded in a better light on this forum. It isn't pricey but the contribution it would make to your knowledge would be priceless. :-)
  21. Don't ask him questions like that!! You will be termed a Saints anorak. When Channon and Davies were playing for Saints, our friend 19C used to support Leeds United. He then went on to support Charlton. He has told us this himself in countless posts. He is clearly completely unaware that both Channon and Davies played for Pompey in the twilight of their careers. No wonder he dislikes MLT and Lawrie. The Southampton teams that they played for / managed used to play and beat the team(s) that he supported at the time. Ron Davies being English. Priceless.
  22. Why would the Welshman Ron Davies ever be regsarded as the greatest English centre forward ?? You are such a great Saints fan that you think Ron Davies is English ! Priceless!!
  23. A cup game against Bristol City. I think it must have been in 1967 / 68. We lost 1-0. At that time we were in the 1st division and they were in the second so in theory it was a cup upset.
