  1. This really makes for a good read. How the mighty have fallen in 2 and a half years!! Nice to know how Sasha got all that money. I thought that he was just his father's puppet. I had no idea that he actually earned it!!

    Shares

Don't choose an individual share - that is too risky. Picking an individual share to do well and buying at the right time is like trying to catch a falling knife at the right time. Choose an area which you think you will do well and then invest in a fund in that area. Let the experts buy the shares and adjust the weightings. Put the fund into a ISA wrapper and you don't have to worry about Capital Gains. JPM Natural Resources is a fund that is growing fast. Anyone who wants to get into mining should buy into this fund. It has grown by 45% in the last 12 months and by 101% in the previous year. Junior Oils Trust invests in oil shares and has grown by 42% and 88% in the last 2 years. For your sake, I hope that the shares mentioned above do well. I think that the trust approach is much more reliable.
  3. At Liverpool Uni in the late '70's there was a society formed called the Ashley Grimes society. It was basically a p*** take of a player with a funny name, carp haircut and who ran around a lot on the pitch without a clue as to what he was doing. One evening there was an Ashley Grimes society disco at a local nightclub.Ashley turned up along with a couple of mates - Tommy Sloan who won a few N Irish caps and Kevin Moran who went on to much better things. Ashley wanted to know where the drugs were. He was happy when a friend gave him a chewed up Players No 6. They were all a good laugh but the cocky bast**ds thought that I was funny 'cos I was a Saints fan!!! Steve Coppell also turned up. At the time he was a regular England player. Ashley didn't bring him but when asked how he had got in, he explained that he part owned he nightclub!! One of my housemates got rather drunk and fancied Steve Coppell's company for the night. She was pretty good looking and threw herself at him but Steve was a true gentleman. He politely turned her down but was very concerned that she got home safely.
  4. I have received a letter at work today concerning a customer of ours who have entered creditors' voluntary liquidation. It is signed by the joint liquidator of this company .... Andrew Andronikou!! Is his autograph worth anything?? Could I flog it on ebay?? It makes you wonder how many other jobs he has on the go at any one time. Is moonlighting allowed when you are an administrator??
  5. No - be nice to the fishy few at this season of goodwill. Mero is a poor Brummy who got lost once when he came south. He turned left instead of right, got in with a rough crowd and cannot escape. I am sure he is really a nice lad. Feel sorry for mac. He used to write good grammatical English. His spelling was excellent. Recently however its all gone haywire. It must be the strain of administration that is causing him to regress. Merry Christmas. I wonder where Pompey will be next Christmas.
  6. It was nice to see Theo but what exactly did he do?? With him turning up on stage and Ces also appearing I wondered if the plan was to ensure that the whole Arsenal squad had bit parts on the night. .... and another thing. How do you get a Lifetime Achievement Award at the age of 35??
  7. Can you imagine how the media would salivate over a non league AFC Pompey?? They would have no fans and would play at H&W but TCWTB would be everywhere and the "gratest fans in the world" would be regarded as media heroes - all 3 of them!!
  8. +1. Exactly what I was thinking..... mind you the first 4 in this list are way better than the next 4.
  9. Thanks for the excellent reports. How many people attend these dinners ? How many were there last night? I am trying to work out the likelihood of getting an invitation!!
  10. I don't know what the problem is. It is quite clear the money is only resting in their account. (with apologies to Father Ted)
  11. Brilliant. What's the Mockney for "our MP who has been most vociferous in his support for the club is being shafted by some Russian spook."
  12. They are normally triffic
  13. "At this moment in time"
  14. Memories of '76 .... is it an omen ????
  15. I guess that this highlights the problem. We don't know who he is so we guess and whilst we guess a lot of innocent people get accused. Leftback has previously indicated that he is c. 50 years old. This rules out Fish as he is too young. It rules out Henderson as he is too old. He has previously indicated that at a gathering of football people, he had to explain that he was representing Southampton. I think that would rule out Franny as it would have been obvious who he would have been representing. I have no idea who he is but whilst I tired of his anti Cortese bile , I was impressed by his knowledge of the team. He knew 24 hours before KO who was playing and he was clued up on Punchy's unhappiness. His ban is a disappointment .... but lets not guess wildly and name innocent people.
  16. Most of the managers you refer to abovve are in a totally different league than Harry. Mourinho has won Champion Leagues with different clubs. Fergie has won Champion Leagues and 20 plus other trophies. Benitez has won European trophies. Dalglish did the double in the days when nobody did that. All Redknapp has to boast about is a dodgy FA cup win and the fact that his team beat the European champions after losing to them the previous week. I think you have read too much of Harry's self publicity if you think that he can be comapared with them.
  17. You don't really believe that do you?? Pompey go out and acquire half the England side on gates of 18k and their subsequent financial problems are a pure coincidence?? I don't think that the two are unconnected!!
  18. I have no idea where these numbers have come from and whether they are correct. I have no idea of what is included in these numbers. What I do know is that West Ham, Saints and Portsmouth have all experienced financial difficulties after he left them. Even Bournemouth have had their problems!! Is this a co-incidence?? Maybe....but your figures above exclude reference to signing on fees and wages. Nowadays these need to be considered as well as transfer fees. I am pretty sure that the likes of Peter Crouch did not leave Champion League Liverpool for Pompey just to enjoy the Portsmouth air. The same could be said of Sol Campbell, Jermain Defoe, Glen Johnson etc etc. No wonder Pompey are up financial s*it creek without a paddle. Give the man resources and he will / can deliver ..... but by god he needs plenty of resources!!
  19. No. It is just an example of how Redknapp lacked tactical nous in a big game (FA Cup Semi Final ) and was in response to the comment that Redknapp did not lack tactical nous.
  20. But look at how Avram Grant (yes Avram Grant of all people!!) completely out thought him in last season's FA Cup semi final!! I watched that game determined to support Spurs against the P*mpey scum and ended up being amazed at how Avram completely out thought him. Redknapp had no tactical nouse in that game so that the team who ended up being rock bottom of the league that season thoroughly defeated Spurs.
  21. It goes back to my basic point that for him to succeed he needs to have many more resources at his disposal than the vast majority of clubs can give their manager. He is wasteful with what he has got. That is why he is accused of bankrupting the clubs that he manages. It may well make him an ideal candidate for England manager .... but very few clubs can afford him with his limitations.
  22. It took him a long time to spot it. Redknapp didn't play him during the first fifteen months that he (Redknapp) was at Spurs!!
  23. Give him loads of money, let him buy whoever he wants (perhaps with a few brown paper bags) and then he may succeed. Spurs seem to have found gold and can support his extravagance but very few other clubs could. Look at Bale. He is now the "best player in the world" but last january he was apparently going on loan to either Forest or Birmingham. Redknapp had him but had no idea about what he could do. Look at how the careers of Bentley (not long ago the future Midfield general of England) and Krancjer have nosedived under Redknapp. His style of management requires loads of resources in the hope that something may eventually work. Most managers would not be allowed to acquire all these players without using them. Redknapp is and that suits his style. It is said that if you give a load of chimpanzees enough typewriters, they will eventually write the works of Shakespeare. Redknapp's managerial style is very similar.
  24. How about SUPPORTing the team for a change. Its what SUPPORTers do - didn't you know??
  25. I hope you crossed your fingers when you wrote that!!
