  1. Isn't it strange how this reassuring statement was issued a few days AFTER the early bird deadline for renewing season tickets had expired.
  2. My son is 18 years old. He is called Matthew. There are a lot of lads his age called Matthew in the Southampton area. I think that soon there will be a lot of lads called Adam growing up in Southampton.
  3. hear hear, Are we going to have a hall of shame ?? Name all the bedwetters on here whose season was over when we were 0-2 down?? Come on own up. We know where you all live.
  4. Gutted that I cannot make it today. Is the wotsit playing???
  5. I took my lad when he was 5. It was against West Ham and we won with a Jason screamer from 25 yards out. To be honest it was the best thing I could have done. At the time he was just getting into football and from then onwards he was hooked on the Saints. I think it is the atmosphere which gets to them when they are at that age.
  6. I understand that Alpine Posh is going mental on their forum.
  7. That season (83/84) we not only should have won the cup but we should have won the league as well. We ended up as runners up just 3 points behind the eventual champions Liverpool. That season we dropped 3 points at home to the bottom team (notts County). I am sure that Lawrie must have made mistakes that day ... but I cannot remember what they were. Where he did muck up was in early April when he played a weakened team at Everton a week or so before the semi final. It was a morning game as the National was that day. it was a horrible game which we lost (1-0 I think). A full strength team couldn't have done any worse and 3 points there could well have won us the title. The saddest thing in writing this is that younger Saints may find it difficult to believe we were that close to doing the Double. It seems like a totally different world!!
  8. I just knew it. Its just typical of the man. Trust Lowe to leave 10 minutes before the end. I always knew that he was one of those!! Mind you Leaving that early must have meant that he missed the Charlton equaliser !!! I wonder if he knows the final score.
  9. Listen to Radio Solent if you want to know the rules about skateboarding grannies or the size of ostrich eggs. Just don't bother with them when it comes to football.
  10. Sat next to him at MK Dons. Nice to have friends in high places.
  11. I guess that Coventry should be added to that list. They were last promoted in the 1960's.
  12. EXactly right. He fell over his feet as he tried to cross.
  13. I agree that was funny. I thought his best moment was when Oxo skipped past a hopeless lunging tacklee but then got penalised. It was amost as if Oxo was too good so that the ref had to penalusr him to even things up.
  14. Trust Radio Solent if you want to know about skate boarding grannies or ostrich eggs. Don't rely on them for footballing information.
  15. I agree entirely. I would trust Patten more than some Tories but I fail to see how he is independent. I do not understand why the BBC licence has to be cut. Taxes apparently have to rise and services cut because the Government has no money - but the supposedly independent BBC funded by the TV licence also has to be cut. Why???
  16. So in other words, you are not happy unless we win every match that we play. The OP pointed out that we had won 33 points from the last 15 games. If we had won the games you had listed here, we would have won 45 out of 45. If these are your standards, then I suggest that you are always going to be disappointed - whichever team you support. Until now I had respected your views and could folllow your argument. Now I see the standards to which you aspire, I realise that you are never going to be satisfied.
  17. Thats no way to talk of Steve Fletcher.
  18. I don't disagree. It was strange however that the offside & the overruling of the linesman never got a mention.
  19. The whole feature had the feel of one of those specials that are done when the non league team gets a big team in the Cup. eg All the interviews with the Bompey fans with the face paint, the weird looking ex hippy, thekids singing, the old dear cheering on the Cherries etc etc. It could have beem subtitled Bournemouth - the town that style forgot. Strange that they decided to analyse the Gobern sending off (and agreed they could not add anything to it) but did not even mention that the ref overruled the linesman for the Bompey goal.
  20. PMSL Skate on a wind up i reckon. Do you take bets on us getting into the play-offs or better? If so, a wager should be in order.
  21. I would never have guessed reading your contributions last week to this forum!! :-)
  22. Or another way of looking at it is that we have taken 11 points from the last 6 games which is a 37.5% improvement on the games which you are using (4 points from 3 games) as your benchmark. Not so bad after all.
  23. My views exactly. Tonight is really make or break. I feel confident but hope it is not misplaced.
  24. Or looking for somewhere for his dogs to take a dump??
