I bet that we will offer him more money than Burnley. I guess that it depends whetehr he wants to live up norff or down south. Mind you, if Swansea are after him, i bet that is where he will end up.

West Ham will attract loads of money for the bookies as they are the "big" team. They will be expected to bounce back but I cannot see them hanging onto many of their current squad. Large debts and Big Sam do not go hand in hand very easily and I can see their season ending in tears. A lot of Cardiff's team last season were loans who have now returned to their parent clubs. They have released Boothroyd so their squad at the moment is not much bigger than Pompey's . I can see them having a disappointing year. Hopefully the momentum with which we ended last season will carry over to the new season. If that does happen, I feel very confident about next season . A couple of decent signings and I see us finishing second to Brum

In the same way as a club sometimes need a special signing to demonstrate their worth, I think that we need a special player signing on to demostrate to the world that we are serious about being a top team again. We need somehow to demonstrate that we are no longer Lowe's club where any young player with talent was immediately sold. In some ways we got that with Adam's contract extension in January but to so many people outside Southampton, our best player is AOC and according to them we are just about to flog him to the highest bidder. If we could hold onto him, I am sure that our general standing in the football world would improve .... and in turn we would find it easier to attract better players. In this day and age, I appreciate that it is sometimes difficult to hold onto a promising youngster. If they want to go, they normally go. However the wait that both Theo and Bale had between their initial leaving of Saints and their establishment in their new clubs shows that sometimes it is better to learn with Saints than go off to the bright lights.

When Messi improves a little, he may be able to play in Adam's wing position.

The bloke who sits near us and used to slag off Puncheon so loudly has now switched to slagging off Guly. Before JP it was Jermaine Wright who constantly annoyed him. Coincidence???,

I saw the games at Swindon and MK Dons. I saw the game at Rochdale. Trust me. We were awful.

LOL Clearly West Ham and their amazing fans meant more to him than Portsmouth and their "amazing" fans.

But I thought Deppo was Tommy Forecast. I am getting confused now.

Hi Barney Hope you are having a good time in Vegas.

It had better be worth it!!

Good read. thanks

Presumably Pulis will not be going to Vegas. He will be at Wembley enjoying Daddy's big day.

Did they need a blue badge to do that??

You may not have been one of the wind up merchants but you posted on this forum on several occasions leading up to the match at the Withdean. Amongst other things, you called our manager a mong and predicted a victory for your team. After the match , you did not appear here for nearly 3 weeks but then object when I tease you about your silence. Jesus wept!! Somehow I think that if you win the corresponding fixture next season , you will be on here pretty sharpish!! Perhaps our manager will be a mong again!! I do not understand your dig at Southampton having fairweather fans. Over the last 5 years or so our average attendance has remained in the 18k - 22k range. I don't see any sudden rush of new fans at SMS. Qhat do you mean about Southampton fans being fairweather? (Unfortunately) Southampton fans are rarely accused of being glory hunters!! Don't you wonder where the new season ticket holders have come from? For the last couple of years the Withdean has been big enough for your needs as you have averaged barely 6,000 fans per season. Even at the start of the season just finished you were still not getting crowds of 7,000. Now all of a sudden you have over 18,000 season ticket holders. Your fans who kept the club going during the Gillingham years earn my admiration. The new season ticket holders do not. JCL's like them could well disappear as quickly as they appear. I am pleased that at least you think like me about next season. We will probably finish above you. :-)

Yes, I think you are!!

Thank God you are back. I was getting worried about you. We haven't heard from you since 21 April. Did anything happen that weekend to stop you posting your normal 3 posts a day?? Some how I think that if BHA had won a football match on 23 April we would have heard a lot more from you. You and your team are really fairweather, flat track bullies. You love it when your team hammers the dross in the league. You enjoy it when things are going well but at the first sight of difficulty you disappear. You can beat the likes of Dagenham & Redbridge. It is teams like Saints andHuddersfield that you have trouble with. I wonder how many season tickets you will sell in 2012/2013. Even if you stay up and even if your unpleasant, ungracious manager has not jumped ship by then, I think that many of the JCL's that have attached themselves to your club will be finding other ways to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Just shows how pointless it is to do those predictor things on sites such as the BBC. It would have been considered hopelessly optimistic to put these scores into such a league.

Saints V Walsall Post match chat PROMOTION .
Tamesaint replied to SOTONS EAST SIDE's topic in The Saints
I went to the Walsall away game and saw us lose. Since then I have been to the matches against Yeovil, Sheff Wed, Charlton, Leyton Orient, Brizzle, Hartlepool, Brentford and today. (Missed MK due to illness) I am just amazed that in between Walsall scoring in that first game and Walsall scoring today, I have not seen Saints concede a goal. I am just afraid that I will wake up soon and disxcover it has been a dream !! -
Huddersfield have already thrown in the towel !!

2 against Rochdale were before Adkins. -
Realiastically I would expect very little next year. Top half would make sense. BUT On Good Friday I listened to a commentary of the match between Doncaster and Palace. Now I recognise that Donny are unlikely to be one of the top Npc teams next year but in that match their attacking options were Jason Euell (on loan from Blackpool) up front with Simon Gillett playing just behind him. Not surprisingly the game was goalless. With all due respect to these two ex saints, if that is the standard that we are up against next year, I would be amazed if we do not challenge for promotion.
-
No. Not really. You really do not get it do you ??? You really think that the behaviour of your tin pot club in the game against us is normal. Unbelievable !! If I were you, I would be getting worried at the way that your season is imploding. 2 home defeats and a dodgy draw in your last 3 games is not the way that you would want to see your season end. The way in which a team ends a season is often the way that it starts the next. I would not like to start next season the way that you are finishing this one.

The second half of Nigel's first "proper" match in charge against Colchester. The previous wednesday we had played at MK Dons. We were poor that night and just capitulated in the last 20 minutes. The team had no pace, no fluidity and little heart. Most of that team went on to play big parts in our success but you would have got big odds on them ending in second place after that game. Relegation rather than promotion was more likely after that evening. The first half of the Colchester game offered nothing better. We were poor and had not improved from the previous game. But after halftime we came out looking a different team. I think that there were a couple of substitutions (Dickson from memory had a great second half) but the improvement was amazing. The next game was against Sheff Wed, we won and the bus was well and truly on the road.
