Guido Carrillo - Official: Free Transfer to Elche
captainchris replied to Mr X's topic in The Saints
Whilst this is an element we have had a serious issue with player selection and obviously do not - have not had the correct skill level at the club to recognise a very good player when buying in. Looking at the under 23s this week this issue is reflected right through the first team squad and the under 23s who don’t have a single player within touching distance of the first team squad and I wouldn’t expect those players to cost 30m. The quality or lack of it on show was truly atrocious against Blackburn. Maybe this is coaching maybe it’s poor recruitment but we have one hell of a mountain to climb before we are anywhere near where we need to be as an organisation. -
Director of Football Operations Replacement Thread

On the contrary, this is a senior Management/Director position and should not be a person that Ralph favours as Ralph will be reporting to him. -
Nice sensible suggestions. Maybe 3421 would allow the wing backs slightly more licence and the CF to remain more advanced but the agree in general with the philosophy. Hoj probably needs a rest mind you, it’s not working for him atm...

Been listening for quite a while now and have enjoyed for the most part, however the propensity to try and extract positivity from obvious train crashes can be nauseating at times. Would it be more interesting and relevant if you discussed with open honesty and let’s hear more analysis of the rather numerous short comings which are causing us issues with the lack of coaching, tactical issues and our players turning their backs to the ball when facing shots like 8 year olds in a Tyro league match.... Too much skimming the surface and positive ‘spin’ Nice but not very nitty gritty.... Acceptance of mediocrity is one of the reasons we are lacking motivation and ambition leading to **** poor performance.....!

Has Ralph left the building?

It’s much more about choosing wisely than paying over a certain figure for a player. Most of our choices have been poor recently and there is no excuse for that given the resource we have to thoroughly check a player out. Jo blogs off the street could have had that kind of failure without any black boxes and the Staplewood resource around him..

Errr not like that we won’t Ralph...
-
why didn’t he slot Valery straight in, it is bizarre putting the bloody terrible Vestaguard straight back in at short notice too. Also it is evident that Ralph is losing some respect with his fall outs and favouritism to certain players what ever their form. Not so sure at all about him now, he is very sure of himself but doesn’t back it up....The decision making just gets more and more odd.

A couple of things here: High transfer Rees do not always relate to great players. Why waste money on complete dross just because we cannot afford or be willing to pay 80m for a player.... You cannot justify the second by saying we cannot afford 80m. We need to be a lot cleverer than we have been in recent times. Clearly some players we paid 15 to 20m for were not worth 5m and one or two not worth 1m so it is not unreasonable to suggest we have been spending large because money was burning a hole in our pocket and procurement wasted the cash. Ralph - question: Why did you take Yan Valery to Tottenham ?
-
As usual you are rude to other posters and contrive to call others trolls ! Have an opinion of your own mate!
-
After all this time Ralph is clearly still experimenting, he seems to fall out with players or certainly have issues with them far too often. Team selection has been almost ridiculous at times and as for Vestaguard remaining in the team with Yoshida not getting a look in this is just bizarre. I’m not convinced Ralph is quite as good as his own confidence suggests. In fact Ralph is a rabbit in the headlights. Decent football managers are actually pretty rare.....
-
Why would we be paying him if he says he doesn’t want to play for us any more??? I would have thought we will be saying to him you have until the of the European transfer window to find a club or you are leaving anyway as we will not pay you after that date. The contract should say that if you refuse to play we refuse pay, we retain your contract though mate...

Currently a good call with Hoedt .... What is happening with him?

Dear oh dear !!! Sad .....

Tend to agree. The team selections have been very strange and in particular today. I’m not sure about Ralph’s coaching ( Doesn’t seem to be anything but pressing the rest hasn’t been touched and needs to be!) Ralph persists with players who are not performing and leaving Yoshida out today was baffling too... Ralph needs to up his game, he flatters to deceive with his demeanour..... Time for him to show some management substance...
-
One of the big problems with the back of yesterday is they ‘jocky’ with attackers and don’t engage the ball..... This could be coached but isn’t here for some unknown reason. Having said that we are clearly being over run in midfield which, as the game progresses means we run out of puff and don’t control the game... Again this really Ralph’s department so he now needs to step up to the plate..
-
People seem impressed by his ‘last ditch’ defending, however you have to wonder if he was a better defender with more anticipation and positional sense whether last ditch is strictly necessary in the first place. He has a long way to go....
-
Typical of you.... Nothing worthwhile to say yourself and didn’t read what I said...
-
Footballers are ‘coached’ to follow the player and forget to close the ball down. It’s simple stuff and fundamental, however it is very rarely carried out. You don’t need to be a ‘football’ person to see obvious flaws in coaching philosophies in this particular game.

There are a very surprising number of members on here who profess to be experts on mental illness ..... I would seriously doubt that all of them are actually that knowledgeable on the subject and would also know FF well enough to judge either way.

Strange comment to make considering such a structured post... Oh well ....
