Such a soft goal, we still need to tuften up !
-
BWP is the only player we have who makes runs in the box - pure and simple. Portvliet continues to tell us what is wrong and is by and large not too far adrift but continues to do absolutely nothing about it in terms of coaching this to the players.................
-
Unless we have actually coached Robertson in how to play and put Llana next to him literally it is a waste of time! We must play the same we did at Reading with the two up front VERY CLOSE TOGETHER. Has portvliet not worked this out YET. I'm tired of his inability to recognise what works, how and why!....................

As a previous Lowe suporter I am afraid to admit that yes this performance was an insult. Three of us from our family were there and we were all just flabergasted by the clueless performance. There now needs to be a radical change of direction. The defence is appauling - who is coaching this area????? At every set piece we either concede or are just about get away with it - we are shocking in this department. Who ever is coaching the defence shoud be sacked NOW. He is not doing a good enough job. Who picked Euell today - he was either not fit or playing so poorly should have been heaved off after 30 mins. McGoldrick whilst having neat control has no awareness of where the ball may go so is never in a scoring situation in the box - this will not change but he will not score he just does not have the awareness. Nobody is making runs in the box - NOBODY !!!!! After all this time if things as basic as this are not being sorted then they never will be. There is a lot of burying heads in sand going on at senior management level in this club and this is severly hampering any chance of progress. One massive difference between the two teams again today was size of players. We were just brushed aside by the much larger built Forest players today. You just have to be over 6' and fourteen stone to play in this league that is fundamental !

What you half wits do not realise is, being judgemental and bitter that people did not come for Man U tickets they came bacause they cannot afford to come more often but they are actually loyal Saints fans trying to make ends meet with family priorities. Whilst you no doubt, are iether lucky enough to be a millionaire or quite wealthy. Yes some of these people will stretch to the Man U game but lets welcome them and applaud them for finding the money to attend. Let me assure you that this football club could not survive on your money alone mate. The team needs these extra 14,000 every game so we need to encourage them back or, you lucky wealthy ONE THIRD of the 32,000 of the people who would like to come every week will get what you deserve. You are not special people you are just a few random people who can afford to go when you like!! Calm down and embrace your fellow supporters or stay at home that's my advice!

15,000 tickets sold, Season ticket holder allowed to buy more tickets
captainchris replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
What a ridiculous comment. I cannot think why anyone would want to buy a membership at all. Why buy a right to buy a ticket when if it's not Man U you can buy a ticket anytime you want to.? And if your logic did make any sense at all it means you are in effect buying a ticket for a 50% premium price!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is just not justifiable. MEMBERSHIP SHOULD BE SCRAPPED - IT'S A RIP OFF. -
I dissagree with this comment. Players can and should be coached but the coaches - being 'football' people are often not up to the task. Kicking through the ball is a prime example, learning to kick with your week foot another and taking a long throw in is another. A proffesional footballer should be able to all these things and if he can't should be coached how to. The plain fact of the matter is the coaching of these basic skills is not there and one can only assume that coaches are incapable of teaching these skills. That is why it is best to bring in people from other sports who are much more aware of skills coaching. People within football are blind to the incredible failings of old fashioned doctrin. While i'm at it here's another old fallacy in football- giving up possesion to the team taking a throw in-this is completely unnessary but has always been taken as read in a football match.........'Football people' more often than not cannot coach!

This is actually exactly what we did against Reading too. People said we played 4-4-2 but that is not really the case. All that was happening for the first half at Reading was DMG was very close to Robertson and then in the second was too deep and too far away from Robertson. This is becoming a very concerning pattern which is disturbing from the point of view of the coaches because it would appear iether, they are instructing this to happen or they cannot see it and correct it. When we don't have the ball by all means have DMG slightly deeper but as soon as we do have it DMG should be within 4 yards of Robertson........

He doesn't just blame Crouch does he .................he blames the whole regime. Get a life you lot of blame culture people, you would defend your self too in RLs position. Just because he speaks posh doesn't make him a bad thing for Southampton - your hatred is tiresome and unbalanced.

Mark Dennis is driving me away from Hampshire radio. His emotional claptrap without brain in gear is very boring and I'm thoroughly tired of having it rammed down my throat. Thankyou.
-
Boring boring boring more anti Lowe bitterness with no substance. For Gods sake get a life or better still an education!
-
Please please please stop dreaming about Svensson coming back like a white knight in shining armour!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He is sadly just so far off the pace now that he should not play in the first team again. He can't jump or run any more just stop living in cloud cuckoo land and get get real. Picking a player based on performances of years ago would be plain stupid. Anyone who has actually seen him play this year could not fail to notice he cannot cut it any more.
-
You are very deluded my friend if you think most of those fans at Reading are in your Strikers club. You are truely bitter if you don't go to St Mary's because of Rupert Lowe, in fact it is the logic of a 5 year old. Let me tell you that whoever is chairman they will have to cut their cloth or we will go into a black hole never to resurface. Get over the relegation issue, it was years ago and in the final analysis was the fault of lots of people it doesn't make any of them bad people. Embrace forgiveness, live five years longer and return to the fold !!!!
-
Real supporters are still there supporting, the others are just fair weather supporters who are bitter people. Carry a grudge all your life and you will remain very bitter, very twisted, very sad and immature and most of all VERY UNHAPPY. I feel sorry for you. The joy and experience of being there Saturday was incredible, shame you missed that amazing feeling of 4000 Saints fans united in the sprit of Southampton. One more thing do you know we are contributing to our team you lot of so called fans who are 'on strike' contribute absolutely zero to the amazing football we are playing and the amazing skill of the likes of Lalanna and co so don't bother being proud of him and the others because you have abdicated your right to do so !!

Reading V Saints Post Match thoughts and reaction
captainchris replied to exit2's topic in The Saints
I'm sorry but where did 442 come from. The formation was the same as usual if you ask me. Great win though and what a performance from the fans! -
Perry my man of the match. He is very intuitive of the play. He does lack height and pace but sees things so well and his interchanging and covering of the left back position was first class.
-
God is this really the only criteria we have for getting a player in? The only thing that is a cast iron certainty in this life is that there are better 'cheap' players out there, this guy is not even on the same planet as AL on a very bad day and would not get in our park game well we might let him join in but he would be last to be picked !!! We have to draw a line under players of this low skill level right now !!!!
-
So true. Wooton is not good enough for this team / league, please do not persist with the total folly of playing this guy any more it's beyond rediculous !!!!!
-
Sorry but it is now more and more obvious that this manager is out of his depth or shall we say off the pace !!!!!!! I didn't go to Preston but Oscar Gobern was pretty poor today as was Wooten - what the hell did we employ him for? He so very poor that I would not cross the road to watch him let aloan go to the ground to watch - he is just a total waste of space and the main reason we were totally outplayed in midfield for all the time he was on the pitch......... I am not a big fan of Jake Thompson however he had a good first half and did look like he meant it and was getting to the bi-line and crossing dangerously. So, what do Portaloo do - he takes him off !!!!!!!!!!!!! and leaves on Gobern who was like a rabbit in the headlights and contributing so little. This leaves us playing with nine men in effect - not surprising then that we were struggling!!!!!!!!!!!! This may be controversial but I also think OL is a long way off the pace too so lets make it eight and a half players against eleven. The manager cannot leave things aloan when we do put a performance together and definately cannot analyse the team performance in a professional way. It has taken him months to realise the two full backs were not up to the job and now we have a further obstinate insistence to alter the team and play personnel who are not up to the job. Of course the complete one trick pony formation is another matter all together !!!! I'm sorry but Jan this is not working. We have some very good players who are performing in spite of you not because of you. I am losing faith in your management skills now. A footnote - Today Bristol City flooded the central midfield and we failed to play round this or counteract the numbers in there - this was very basic stuff and not picked up by the coaching staff. In conclusion, poor choice of personnel, poor tactics, and poor perception of the situation - until it was far too late !!!!

Chris Perry, Injured or dropped?
captainchris replied to Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd's topic in The Saints
Well said -
Sorry but can we stop this Killer worship. Yes he was a very good player but now he's not. Please please can we move on. We won't be a good team based on memories !!! Nice guy, motivational but a shadow of the player he once was !!

Rory Delap's notororious long throw .
captainchris replied to CHAPEL END CHARLIE's topic in The Saints
Did you go and watch the pre season friendly against Stoke at our place? Rory Delap was really very poor indeed........ -
Rory Delap's notororious long throw .
captainchris replied to CHAPEL END CHARLIE's topic in The Saints
Even more strange when you consider that litterally anyone can be coached to take throw in's that far, it's very easy to do !!!! Sadly though many so called 'football people' / coaches just cant figure it out - but then on the whole they are not the brightest candles in the box !! -
I have certainly heard this too.....................
