That makes complete sense! End of story.........
-
So we pick a player purely on his past record now do we!
-
God who was responsible for the idiotic decision to buy this guy - get him free and give him a contract whatever for three blinkin years. Agree with previous threader he certainly one of the very worst to ever wear a Saints shirt. He truely would not get in the Roll Call pub team.............. Gillett is a better player but could not play worse even on a bad day anyway so why has he been ostracized - it doesn't make any sense.....
-
Agree - baffling!
-
Well positive words but what worries me is we are not even starting to play to a pattern, unless you call long balls a pattern! Also has even one person on here said they think Wotton should be playing, if they have I've missed it! If we were working towards a new way of playing great but we're not!
-
Yes yes,but he surely calls the tactics and we ARE TOO NARROW and I'm pretty sure I've never seen a Saints team play so many long balls to no one. This strategy has been employed by his new boys as well the ones that were already here so we must assume it's the managers instructions and not just the fault of suspect players already in place. Team selection does however have a bearing and that is suspect too. Yes we need new players but hell the manager needs to be very sharp with his strategies or we're knackered anyway!! Come on Pards your game plans so far have been very average!
-
You are joking - aren't you - yes you must be..........
-
Sorry but couldn't agree more - What is Wooden doing in the team????????? More width needed. This isn't just about not having the players it's about hoofing it tactics which we are employing and poorish personnel selection too. AP seems to insist on not playing anyone wide, we have NO WIDTH for Gods sake - no outlet. Oposition play wide players in wide positions against us and tear us apart. Also we are lumping it all the time into no mans land or 'The Channels' as they so unprofessionally call it 'in the game'! So far tactics are poor I'm afraid and I'm looking for much more awareness from AP. 3 out of 10 so far!
-
Well said..........We have no width and can't understand the strategy. We have no out let tp pass to because all our players are the very congested area of the pitch. We are 'grinding' it out at the moment........
-
Can't really understand why we changed the team from the last 20 mins against Hearts......Did Rasiak figure at all? I know Thomas was injured but we could have slotted Rasiak in for John and decided between Goburn and Mills on the left with Wotton on gardening leave - permanantly! Who signed and gave that bloke a three year contract or was it four years? Who ever it was should be certified!
-
I'm sorry but Wotton - I really do get exasperated at the thought him even in the squad let alone playing. I also worry about any manager who picks him!
-
You talk rubbish mate and have little understanding of football that is toilet banter not considered expertise on the game.......We had 11 young energetic headless chickens last year and look where we ended up!
-
God anyone would think we just signed Ronaldo himself! Straw grabbing euphoria. I didn't see the Ajax game but I did see the Hearts game - keep your feet on the ground...............

fat +2

A bit harsh!

Might one be lead to wonder if Stern said he wanted to stay when he had no other offers! However as it would appear clubs are now pannicking as the season approaches he seems to have had a sudden change of heart. I have to say, and this isn't sour grapes - he looked very leaden footed and over weight against Hearts whereas Rasiak was floating around the pitch with a confidence and fitness which made me think he is the one to target with a new contract - a class apart actually.........
-
Yes most of the play did go up the right first half - that's because there was no one to distribute the ball wide left as Mills was too central. I'm not saying he's crap but his positional play was not helping our balance.....
-
Mills was for sure our poorest player playing far too centre of pitch giving us no width and compressing the play on the right side crowding out Lallana. We scored two quick goals remember as soon as Gobern came on for him and we had width and room for Lallana and Murty to operate down the right.
-
The coverage for the Ajax game by Solent was very boring disjointed and amatuer - what the hell it was supposed to be I don't know - bring back Hampshire quick I can't a season of 'once that players cross that white line' Merrington. Solent coverage needs a complete overhaul!!
-
Not a bad summing up though I would like to say that Mills looked poor. Either he was ordered to play in the centre circle for most of the match or he was way out of position. What this did - particularly first half was compress the play into the right hand side as there was no out let to the left! This had the effect of crowding out Lallana giving us no width. This 'tactic' continued until Gobern came on and he stretched their midfield by playing much wider. Result was Lallana and Murty had much more room and we started to construct attacking movements.................
