This is deadly. We win a couple of games and the strong opinions disappear. Can someone please be controversial. I suppose if we loose tomorrow things will get pretty hot again but if we win! By Tuesday it will be like a mortuary on here...... I'm going to make a start...... If Connely plays where the hell does AL fit in? It's a bit like Rooney for England. He's a dam good player but we often struggle as a team when he plays. If we go 442 again that's only two to look after when we attack but with two breaking midfielders there are three to look after. That's not very controversial on reflection - well I tried. Bring back Pearson - at any price we would be top of the league by now with him in charge - any better????

Christ there are times when you have to say my face doesn't fit here. He was very decent for us last year and would be again if given half the chances useless Wotton has been given! Yes, Yes I know, Wotton has had at least one good game for us but does that make a summer? I like Gillet pitty he's off but that's life. He was probably a victime of the fact that we had a lot of short players and that just had to change. We probably lost many games before they even started last year - in the tunnel, with so many titchies stood beside all the giants you come across in football these days the psychological disadvantage would be significant.....

AP has shown no tactical knowledge what so ever so far, he's virtually all his own players out there and no strategy in games at all!! Oh yes we one strategy - I do appologise - it's evidently to play very narrow with no width and no cover for the full backs! ITS NOT WORKING!!! No win Saturday and no sign of a tactical strategy and it's enough for me......This is a very expensive hand picked squad he should be doing better!

Irrelevant what he knows or doesn't know about running a football club. It has to run like any business on results. If the manager doesn't deliver then a review has to take place, reports delivered on progress and forecasts given. No business, club can run on 'giving someone time' for ever. You have to draw a line in the sand somewhere and there will always be a variant in opinion on where exactly you draw that line - Cortese will know where and when AP has crossed that line. The owner of Saints didn't get where he is today by standing by dead ducks when they're not producing. Very rich people are ruthless backers of winners - I back his judgement or at least his man on the case Cortese to deliver the right decision whether it's backing or sacking.

Well said. I am another who is tired of the very happy clappy AP supporters club come what may and with no - as yet substance! When is this AP euphoria going to come more into line with the football we are playing which so far, is as poor as I can remember for many years. I'm not saying sack him - yet, but Christ, he's bought some good players but abjectly failed so far to get them playing football...........

Surely there is quite an obsession with personel when talking about our team at the moment. This is the clever AP rhetoric which he has spread quite convincingly since he has been here. The idea that it's all about players and nothing to do with the technical side of tactics and those tactical choices which have to be honest been suspect so far. There has been an awful lot of long balls - so far - more than I can remember for many years in fact. Possesion of the ball has been a low priority - so far - narrow formations and tactics have prevented our build up play from maturing into structured attacks. Ap has a very long way to go before he will start to get the team to perform consistantly from what I have seen so far. So, yes, his transfers have looked good, however without a very good tactical manager one wonders where we are heading. I know the 'in' words are patience, give him a chance, we are only a win away from turning into a winning team etc ....... lets see - i'm trying very hard to agree with the 'majority' - so far!

You touch on an interesting point here. For me the coaching and tactics are short on quality so far too.
