Most definitely agree. His is a lofted ball from a very deep position......If only he could cross with pace and get forward but he doesn't / can't. However, more importantly his defending is way off - he was asleep several times in the second half on Boxing Day. He is an honest hard worker yes - very much so but where we are headed we need more than that ....

Comparing Lallana to Mills even when Lallana was 19 is quite ridiculous. I think you need a very different analogy !
-
What I can't understand is the rush at every possible moment to get James into midfield as if he's another Lallana! He's plainly not in the league of our other midfielders - so why?
-
Very good points well made. James being picked 'come what may' - it is really irritating, not only to many fans but also must be for the other players too... Yes he is a 100 per center but - he's not good enough.
-
+1 James is no right back..

Sorry can't agree at all with this post. Mills cannont handle this league and has been well off the olace every time he has played this year. I'm afraid he's not going to make it...

Saints 3-1 Exeter - Post match Reaction
captainchris replied to SOTONS EAST SIDE's topic in The Saints
You say James MOTM - I say worst player on the pitch - football is a game of very diverse opinions. Whilst Harding did not set the world alight but wasn't really too bad at all... We are the opposite to last year. This year on the whole playing playing some average football but winning and last year some great football at times but loosing. Exeter did remind me of us last year year at times. Played some very attractive passing football but didn't win.... -

Agreed, AP doesn't seem to rate Thomas who is a better option in my opinion.... -

James was caught sleeping several times. Three or four or five times he was actually snoring in the second half! Nowhere near good enough for this team and should be dropped now - dreadful display again! -
I'm all for 'promotions' but they they have to be just a tiny bit logical. I have not said I'm against any promotions at all - on the contrary I would advocate them and promoting kids in particular. The thing is though, why discount adults to tho the tune of some 60% at the same time. If the offer was linked to those unemployed or on Social I would say that's fare enough but this 'offer' shows no sign of any thought process being employed what so ever and hides behind the 'lets get kids in' slogan as an excuse for a poorly thought out scheme.

What are you talking about? The issue is not whether it's legal to ban the Echo or not. That argument has nothing what ever to do with the issue. Who cares whether it's legal or not. What matters is many thousands of the fans rely on the Echo for information about the club that is not always on the web site. Also we like the opinion of the Echo and others on Saints - this called free speech which is and always will be in this country - I hope legal and encouraged.... Any business would be well advised to take up the opportunity to use this free media source to the full in order to encourage sales and communicate with it's customers or in this case fan base too.... The administration have shown me nothing to justify this paddy they are throwing and banning the Echo is completely unjustified and does a disservice only to fans - great decision !!

I'm sorry but this policy stinks and I do not like it at all - not one bit!!! In fact I'm angry - very with this. I'm going, as I often do, with my son who is 18 and not earning. Total cost £44.00 !!!! Someone who may or may not have a youngster gets in for a total cost of £10.00 !!!! This system just does not work at all. I'd go with an adult full price and a nipper a nominal fiver but this system leaves me speachless - it just does not add up. I should have bought two lots of adult/child tickets and taken my lad for £20.00 !!! In fact I'm so against this rediculous system it will not encourage me to go again unless the club issue a statement saying it's a huge **** up and that I can have £22.00 back! It's rotten to the core and discriminates against honest fans ! This and the Echo fiasco are leading me to think that this 'Set Up' need to wind it in a bit and quickly - their judgment lately is showing signs of arrogance which even starts to push the limits of the previous administration.....

Bart definately for me too....

Whilst it's great to be happy clappy and this site is should be renamed something on those lines these days - we were very poor and rode our luck in the Norwich game scoring whilst in pannick mode not through a structured tactical advantage. Indeed quite the opposite so lets keep a sense of proportion with the result on Tuesday. Tactically and to some extent individually were left wanting for quite long periods. Pardew was indeed slow to react and to my personal frustration continues to persist with our very weak right back when Thomas would be a far better alternative. It is very true to say also that inmany games we have played with a lack of width this year giving us no outlet in midfield. We have actually won several games through individual skill rather than tactical advantage and guile. Pardew has assembled a good squad but lets not look at every aspect of his decision making through rose tinted glasses. We have spent money - much more than any other team in this league and there are a lot very poor teams in this league. Lets give a balanced view and let people have their opinions - some of what they say could just be true......
-
We have to adopt a slightly different set up and put Thomas in at right back or Leeds will exploit this well known weekness....
-
Thomas before James any day of the week - what is James doing in the side?????? He's weak in personality, aggression, skill and is meak. Why is he continually in the team???
-
Reinstate the Echo immediately. The Echo is pretty poor and the editor is rather pompous and amatuer, however Saints need the paper and so do the supporters. I often completely dissagree with what the paper says about the game and the Saints issues but I do order it every night to keep up with the latest news on the club. I have certainly lost a tiny bit of respect for NC over this. Think again Saints - a bad move - what ever the detail of the reasoning!
-
As I predicted - Bart is conceding less goals - consistantly - the figures do not lie.......
-
Helloooo - that was last year.................5m you are joking???????????????? If we were to sell and IF he ever wanted to go and IF we did consider it it has to be 10m or no thought even. Bur even then..........we are o a mission here and AL is a very important part of that plan. IF you take his goals away this year where were we be now? Money can't buy a player of his tallent and 5M wouldn't buy you his socks!

As another poster said there can no room for sentiment in the pursuit of success plus for all his granted loyalty there is no evidence to suggest he is a marvelous coach. Sorry but sentiment is one thing and respect is another but neither = a job at Saints......

Funniest quote of the night !!!!
-
Agreed. At least we will learn some more about Bart. He could still turn out to be a great keeper. He looked really good before his injury a few years back - was it at Newcastle in the cup - can't really remember...
-
How would it have been different? Encroachment means it's got to be re-taken anyway whatever the outcome!

I think you are having an affair with Davis which is turning into a love affair and love can be blind! So 29 defenders are all useless and Davis is the unlucky one - I rest my case.... I agree James is a weak link and this was shown again on Saturday but yet again the ball comes comes bouncing out after another 'save' from Davis on Saturday and the opposition score for the second! Davies will have to make a few saves in any team he plays for. I don't know how to find the statistics but it would be so good to see how many goals we concede reletive to shots on target, it's high I tell you. To answer your other point. I have seen only one goalkeeper this year at St Mary's that looked worse than Davis and that was the MK Dons Fella. The rest looked at least as good. Anyway, we are so much better resourced than those teams and should expect a better standard from our goalkeeper. If we expect it from our defence we should expect it from our goalkeeper. He's a good close range shot stopper granted - the rest of his skills level you can forget - it's ponderous and lightweight................... Your implication that my comment on Davis is simply a technically uneducated 'easy option' is as far from the truth as you could be. On the contrary, my annalysis was taking all the technical abilities of our current and in addition all the other Davis era defences into consideration - were all those defences poor? The statistics show that over his period in goal we have consistantly conceded more goals than most of our rivals, perhaps apart from one year. Take note on Saturday, it's uncanny that Davis is conceding goals when the ball actually goes quite close to him - if you are annalysing games as closely as you say, you will notice. Also many posters have agreed over the years that Davis is weak in commanding his area. These things do have a knock on affect. More players are needed to guard his six yard area which leaves less defenders to mark and guard space which forwards can and do exploit. I can easily have a technical/tactical opinion on the team defense, however there are more than enough posters already making those points some of which I would agree with. My points are to balance the argument and broaden the thinking, it's not personal and it may not be the majority opinion on here but it's logical and thought through.
