Ok, our true situation is beginning to emerge. A day like today was always about to happen - results are now showing how bad we have been.....For me it's a win now on Monday or a change is blatantly required........Too big a risk to continue with a manager who is not only still learning but actually not learning by his mistakes so the learning curve argument for me is losing credibility. Nigel is a very very nice bloke and very very honourable but it just ain't working that is one fact which is undeniable.....For me it's a win or goodbye. Yes it's another tough match - again but there are no easy games in this league so taking the 'excuse' that we have played mostly top half teams just doesn't hold water.....Tactics and decision making have been left wanting in most games so far. Apart from the odd 20 mins we have been pretty terrible unless you really are living in a dream world of rose tinted glasses. Lose at West Brom and you have to say what will change for the next game and the game after that. We are at a critical stage now. If we bring in someone else now they would have a chance of changing things and saving us but leave it another 3 or 4 games and that chance could have passed us by. I want to see assertive successful tactics and a team selection that doesn't include players who do not contribute - game after game after game.....Plus like NA says himself - it's time for results - positive talking alone is not enough.......Time to kick ass Nigel or yours might be kicked twice as hard!

Summary of Nigel's Post-Match interview after Leeds

Lol - hardly 'ridiculous' is it - come on....... -
All very true............The problem is Adkins never learns the problems and Fox will play again next game too don't worry about that. Adkins just doesn't seem to learn. It's becoming very irritating now........

Yes Mayuka to start...

Anyone 'deserves to be paid to do a job. In NAs case well paid. You cannot run any enterprise on memories and loyalty. Anyone who stops performing at work will be expected to start performing of be moved on, doesn't matter what you did last year! NA has enjoyed loyalty so far this year - perhaps loyalty must have it's limits, very soon that limit will be reached...

If you don't discuss pros and cons you have no discussion - that's what forums are for......If you prefer to live in a cosseted bubble it's probably best not to sign in.....

I take your point but I wasn't intimating that NC should talk before this game particularly - just more often......generally...However preferable more from the manager and staff - playing or coaching...

This post is far more realistic than the Jack Cork our 'saviour' posts....Errr Rose tinted glasses anyone....

Not heard a single thing all week about the team as usual..... Couldn't we at least have some update on how things are progessing regarding preparation during the week. It wouldn't be unproffesional just courteous to the fans to be spoken to through the media more often.......The niose coming from Southampton FC Limited is deafening. Wake up NC and get your staff taking to their fans or perhaps - God forbid you might have something to say once in a while, other than we have no comment! Come on, engage more and keep our attention!

Where do you think we'd be if Pardew had stayed?

Fans relationship, are the club missing a trick.
captainchris replied to derry's topic in The Saints
What a shame that your very sensible post with very valid points made is twisted by some into you being ungrateful for the last two years how bitter some people are! I agree with your post. We get hardly any information from the club these days and yes the club do and are building walls between the fans and themselves. Cortese does need to get a grip on his public relations or shall we say customer relations as they are almost non existent at the moment. If We know it is his toy and he can do what he likes with it but his bares the name Southampton on it and perhaps a little more respect for the fans and people of SOuthampton would not go amiss. Money is very important and good housekeeping a must however, football is about more than this. Fans wish to feel a part of the club not a fan of a branded company that just opens its doors to punters who are treated as commodities - fed minimal information and not kept informed by their local paper even of the latest news at the club/company. The club seems so focused on sucking in every income stream to the detriment of encouraging a club/supporter bonding which I feel is being eroded quite quickly. Maybe that is the price wich has to be paid for a rich benefactor, the price of progress - perhaps I am just an old fashioned fan who should get with the times but I have a sneaking suspicion that I am not alone.... -
A very sensible post. The thing is, as a couple of people have said before - is NA able to spot good players from bad. Whilst I was not a Pardew fan he seemed very good at picking very able players to buy or play but poor NA - I'm not so sure he is as talented as Pardew in this part of management...

Anyone else reminded of Poortvliets reign..?
captainchris replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Saints
Yes but the team has had 30m spent on it too this time! -
Totally disagree with this comment. As the Saint86 says Harding was a good energy player who would have stepped up no problem. Indeed he looked good in pre season and in typical fashion we discard him in favour of a player who is either blind and I mean that literally or just unable to follow the game - I refer of course to Fox - a total waste of 1.5 m......
-
I'm so sure about this....some of our signings have been very suspect indeed...some of the team selections have been also very suspect indeed.... The persistence with players who are clearly not good enough is very suspect. For me NA is showing too many alarming flaws plus last year we were promoted despite playing some very average football second half of the season and only crept over the line. I am beginning to think NA has been punching above his weight for a while now and it is beginning to show....Too many mistakes - its time to shake his hand and thank him for everything NA will not take this club to its destination.....

There is a grain of truth in this post....

His international appearances were rubbish so what the hell are you on about ! Also he has been nothing short of rubbish for us this year. He can shut up and face facts he's not good enough!!!
-
Why does every one think Fox is worthy of a place......?????? If we don't know by now that he's not up to it we never will - WHU will destroy him......
-
Your sarcastic analogy is completely out of context. Any professional footballer should be able to kick with both feet, you cannot play football one footed....unless you six and haven't yet learnt to kick with both feet! If you find yourself in the fortunate position of being a professional footballer and one footed you should practice, practice, practice until you can do it.....
-
The best roll for Fox would indeed be in another position - as shown last night for Scotland he is way off the pace for a place in our team...It's all been said before - not intelligent enough or quick enough, by quite a margin..'position suggestions' - tea lady, ticket sales desk, car park barrier operator, orange juice monitor, half time divet replacer, Staplewood Refurb Contracts Manager, Defensive transfer policy coordinator, Ticket sales promotion (by not playing) lol......
-
Precisely-we press early on and dominate then stop doing that a play deeper and deeper why do we persist in doing this. The only time we don't do this is when we don't press at all which is often! Subs were pathetic - no other way to describe them....I think there will come a time when these rather strange decisions are called into question by those who pay the wages......The people who were responsible for the lack of attention to our defence personnel over the summer should equally take a look at their CV. That lack Of attention was nothing short of incompetent! We have heard so much about 'we will analyse the game' after matches but I see very little evidence that this much lauded action actually takes place!! Perhaps it's just s talking shop! Management of the bus needs to learn lessons much quicker and be much sharper - we are far too slow to the chase management wise and this now becoming a theme...

What the hell is going through Adkins mind?

Training Ground Development - "temporarily suspended"
captainchris replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
From what i have heard today the theme of not paying for work done on sometimes rather spurious reasons is not uncommon at St Mary's and indeed rather more 'normal' than this thread suggests. I have been told today that there are other cases pending from the hospitality refurb - not fact you understand just people from the companies concerned telling me some details today........where bills may not have been paid in full resulting in arbitration which came out in favour of the contractor......OK - if, the work was shoddy fine but ........sometimes it's very difficult to deal with certain companies who never pay up........Some companies are determined not to pay the full bill and search for the slightest detail to withhold. I would not suggest that the people I have spoken to today would lay that at the door of St Mary's though! Call it good business - call it bad business - my call is not good but maybe I am not hard enough and maybe some builders are not god enough but I'd say on the balance of probability that it's a shame that some building projects at St Mary's seem to have gone wrong and with a dilligent and fastidious Chairman you would be surprised of any hickups......if there are any of course.......!!!! -
Fox is a 'bad' player !!!! Of that there is no doubt!
