  1. This is insanity. It's one thing to lose players to bigger clubs but this would be shooting ourself in both feet whilst smashing our face in with the recoil of the gun. I'm just about able to deal with us being bullied by the big 4, but I don't think I can watch us self-harm too.
  2. If Lovren goes for anything under £20mil, we might as well pack up and go home.

    Monk's Corner

Yep, dead on. Even if we agreed to lose MoPo, and say 4 or 5 players, there's a value to doing so in a slow, controlled way. Panic breeds panic. For a PR guy Kruger seems utterly clueless in presenting a strong face in negotiations.
  4. PL Combined Goals and Assists Last Season Luis Suárez Liverpool 31 13 44 Daniel Sturridge Liverpool 22 7 29 Yaya Touré Manchester City 20 9 29 Wayne Rooney Manchester United 17 10 27 Steven Gerrard Liverpool 13 14 27 Sergio Agüero Manchester City 17 6 23 Olivier Giroud Arsenal 16 7 23 Rickie Lambert Southampton 13 10 23 Romelu Lukaku Everton 15 6 21 Eden Hazard Chelsea 14 7 21 Wilfried Bony Swansea City 17 3 20 Edin Džeko Manchester City 16 4 20 Sure he's 32, but tell me who else on that list you could buy for £15mil, let alone 4. Put another way, how much will it cost us to replace those 23 goals? Don't blame Rickie for a second but this is a joke business wise.
  5. I don't begrudge Rickie the move, nor Adam to be honest. MoPo less so, And I get that everyone has a price. But there has to be some recognition of how this all looks when it happens *at once* - to fans, to the squad, to players were trying to bring and to a prospective managers. You can't do good business when it looks like you're in meltdown, when you aren't in control and when your actions don't square with your public statements. Would it kill anyone to wait until after the WC? Or until we've got a manager even? Why aren't we taking any proactive steps of our own (why no contract for Cork etc?) We might well have planned for all this, but that's not how it looks, and that will have consequences.
  6. Unless we can get someone similar to MoPo from La Liga we'd be mad to look beyond Moyes. Utd aberration aside he's got a great record at a club at the level we should be aiming at. Laudrup is a disaster by all accounts and we're so much better than Poyet, Rosler, Petrescu etc.
  7. I have the Veho MIMI™ Wireless Speaker. It's great, esp for listening to the football whilst in the garden. http://veho-lifestyleshop.com/lifestyleshop/shop.aspx?category=mimicube
  8. Early days but Lambert at AM looks inspired. Could add of couple of years to his career too.
  9. Turgid. On the up-side though, we've got a tremendous core of the team. The way we dominate possession is exceptional - and we just lack cutting edge. If Gaston and Osvaldo had lived up to anything like their potential we could have had an amazing season. Still, If we keep MoPo over the summer and strengthen smartly we really could go places. We should also be able to attract a couple of top players who aren't unproven (Ramirez) or damaged goods (Osvaldo).
  10. Missing J-Rod so badly. JWP Davis Wanyama and Schneiderlin is overkill surely? And yet there's no obvious option on the bench either. Le sigh.
  11. Just got through the on-line queue. 2 hours and 15 minutes.... Hang in there!
  12. I know, it was bizarre. Glad to see MoPo send him back out to the middle before taking him off 30 secs later.
  13. Just back, quick thoughts. - Norwich were as bad a team as I've seen at St Mary's, and surprisingly dirty. - We were very poor until Lambert came on. J-Rod looked good throughout but Lallana was essentially kicked out of the game. - Ramirez looked alright but we were never fluent enough to get him involved. Body language when subbed was terrible. - We had a clear plan to use JWP in a kind of deep lying Busquets role but in terms of execution it was a disaster, partly down to JWP but largely because he was being fed balls in impossible situations. Loads of potential but still lots to learn. - MoPo did not look impressed. Bottom line is Norwich were awful, and we took the opportunity to play at 75% and almost ended up paying the price. Might have been tactical but couldn't help feel that stone of our England players had their minds on Brazil (J-Rod and Rickie excepted). Great to see Gallagher get a goal at the end.
  14. Utterly dire 40 mins of football after the goal. Both sides look happy with 1-0. Not sure if it's coming through on the stream but a lot of nasty off the ball stuff from Norwich which is breaking up our rhythm.
  15. So they think they can shift 10-15 players with another year left on their contract. I.e. They need to find clubs who want players who've proven they aren't L2 standard, *and* who are willing to pay as much (or more) than Pompey are. Good luck with that! My mate from Accrington think's they're insane. L2 clubs typically only offer 2 year deals to players who are likely to be poached by other clubs. And yet in the first months (weeks!?) of ownership the PST seems to have been handing them out like candy. I always assumed they'd financially cripple themselves at some point, but even after reading 1920 pages of this thread I can't believe they did it right from the off. They either nuke the budget over the summer by paying the players off, or serve the same dross up next season and watch the attendances plummet. I can't wait.
  16. I'm going with a mate from Accrington in the hopes this will finally offer some catharsis for our relegation season. I know they're suffering, but I think I need to *see* then suffering. Will try to get some pictures of the undoubtedly packed park.
  17. Well it'll be cheaper for Cortese to buy us in the summer now.
  18. Massive handball. Worse than the Everton one.
  19. Shaw, Chambers, Scheiderlin, Lallana immense. Loved the way Morgan drew Flamini into that horror tackle by beating him twice in front of Wenger.
  20. What a f****** pass by Ramirez
  21. Taking Cork off was a mistake, but other than that we got beaten by the probable Champions (or runners up) with a strike force costing £130 million. People need to get a grip.
  22. Yoshida > Hooiveld
